I'm still in the zone that they are only removing base class for future jobs like DK, Mach, and Astro while keeping the current Base classes like GLA, ARC, ROG, and PUG.
I *really* doubt they will without doing some major re-writes to the overall lore and setting of the game (everyone else that's *not* the PC uses classes).
If anything, it's more likely that we won't rely on base classes anymore post-Lv.30 than removing them outright ...
iLvl 'compression' would have no effect on the damage that we do, just the item level we see on equipment. From 50-60 you'll still see improvement due to many other influences. Unless they change the stat allocation system, you'll have some extra points to spend. You'll have new traits, and new skills. New gear will be powerful, 'compression' or not. The argument behind it is (as far as I know) so that the item levels don't get too out of control as the game goes forward.
Also, because when you are leveling from 1-40, item levels don't jump around too much. Imagine on expansion though. 1-50 gear would be relatively tame. Then you hit 50, and you'd experience a roughly 70-80 item levels difference from the previous character levels. They'd either have to not give any relevant gear until 60, or they'd have to do some major tuning, in order to keep the same item level trend from 50-60.
Also, on topic...
I want them to reveal so much, but it's not a live letter. If they treated it like one, then I'd definitely hope for some good info, but I think they'll just be talking about more simple things. That being said...
Release Date (With a surprise of being like... in April)

Maybe a clutch new Job reveal during a new trailer?
New Trailer with ambiguous showings of new skills from all the Jobs.
I can see at this point, being near spring and all, that we could see a CGI trailer of Heavensward.
Spring is only two weeks away ^^ hoping for a new trailer.
Probably already been said but if I can just get a release date and some info on the Dark Knight, I'll be happy.
Why? That would have pretty much no impact on gameplay in the slightest, since we don't use them anyway, and as such would only really be a waste of development time, since they'd have to go back and re-write much of the lore and throw away many of the existing quests. It would really be quite a lot of work for no real benefit whatsoever.
I'd much rather see them give us a Freelancer system for Classes to boost them into relevance should people want; Players get their Thief, their Carbuncle, etc.
How about a release date!?
I'd like to know if the PS4 version will run on DX12 with this update
benchmark for au ra, release date, new areas, what CE has in... WAY TOO MUCH STUFF I WANNA KNOW
it's about to start! http://www.twitch.tv/finalfantasyxiv
Almost fifteen minutes in, and I'll I'm getting is logo. Pretty sure it's the same logo they've already revealed.
Oh, but there's "call waiting" music now.
/shrug
They said you can make your Au Ra girl look ugly and like a beastman or succubus.
Benchmark with Au Ra next month.
So Dark Knight is set apart from Paladin and Warrior because it uses MP? All hope for Paladin just went out the window. Plus they picked Dark Knight over Samurai... Kinda sad now...
I want a Duel Disk x.x
That SCH AF... Bring the eye bleach please...
Also DoH/DoL new AF just like original 2.0 set... Time to save up materia and not bother with artisan's/forager's...
Honestly this press conference is very boring with no real new info on 3.0....
June 23rd release date. Early access 19th.
New Tour video for Coerthas/Dravania. Some of these look as big as 1.0 Coerthas to me, very impressive.
MCH Job trainer is (at long last) a male Miqo'te that can't get X-Zoned at the end of the storyline. That's a relief, at least.
Is it too early to ask if anyone has pictures of the new AF gear?
Kinda minimal new information.
I was really hoping that they would show new housing, since new jobs take 1 year to do.
The information to time density of that presentation was lower than aerogel.
Anyone know of someone made a YT video of the conference? I apparently miscalculated when it was going to air and by the time I started watching, thinking it was only just relatively beginning, it was actually the end of the stream when they were showing off areas and then announced the release date. u.u fml
Anyone else disappointed with most of the AF2? Ninja and Summoner were the only wants that jumped out to me as "WANT", with the rest kinda being meh or "HOLYCRAPWHATDIDYOUDOTOSCHOLAR?!".
Well you saw everything that was new then. The first 20 mins was a recap of fan fest stuff, the next 10 was "How we pick a job" slideshow, 2 mins of job armor slides, then finished up with release and area tour video....
Sorry if I'm sour but I was hoping to see battle stuff. As a SMN I was hoping for a glimpse of new Egi's and the new personal LB they teased earlier this year. Maybe an inside show case of Alexander and the Dragon Battle content.
I feel like the Ninja AF2 is lazily designed. Doesn't seem all that interesting or unique. Everything else seems to be a worthy update (I'm still a little on the fence about the WHM AF2, but they showed it on a worthless lalafell, so I can't completely tell).
Am I the only one who liked the SCH armour? That stuff was rad.
Imo Bard AF2 turned out well. The Summoner AF2 doesn't look a thing like the concept art, but that might be a good thing at least for me personally. I certainly didn't mind it as much as the concept art. Ninja was cool. Warrior was nice and nomadic. Paladin was certianly Paladin-y. White Mage I didn't mind, though it looks a bit too much like a Nun. I have no idea what they were going for with Black Mage and Scholar, but that staff the Blm had... do want. Monk looks like a Monk, can't really complain about that. I can dig it. The Dragoon AF2 hrm, I still like it, but it seems they went with a much darker look color-wise than what I was hoping for.
Oh well.
