Never give fast gil tips.

I just love when I find someone selling items you can buy at npc for say... 200, and the players sell them at like 8k.


Like the level 1 fishing rod.
You can buy it for I think it's 501 from a limsa npc. What do people do? Sell it on mb for 9k. I come in. Buy 20, sell them on my for 3k. Make profit. Leave for 2 weeks, do it again. I have around 5-10 items that are cheap npc that I Watch the board and sell a few, then change to a different one when people catch on to my current one.

There are many reasons... but really it comes down to:

1) They need gil fast. Cocaine habit, whatever.
2) There is a finite volume of any material that will move in a day on the MB.

If you only sell to get what mats are worth at the market board price and have excess time, you will begin to accumulate additional inventory that still needs to go. Real world economic policy does not apply to games like this. Items become easier to get, need goes down over time. There is no decay mechanism. No item in the game is inherently worth anything. Its still just a game, and while you require appropriate value (in gil) for your time spent playing a game, others don't place as much emphasis.

Also, I've made millions upon millions by buying tons of mats on opportunity and crafting items on the undercut. My macro prints 10k. I sold one 3* item and did the trading undercuts game with one guy for a couple hours and said screw it, its not fun for me. I rarely worry about undercuts and most of my inventory sells very quickly. Different strategies for different play tolerances.

People do this all the time, buy water or iron ore and run 3 steps from their FC vendor to their FC retainer bell and drop it on the MB for 10 times what it cost them, the sales histories show just how purely oblivious a lot of gamers are to the concept of paying attention.

It lends a scary new flavor to the definition of lemming.

I'm confused by some of ya....
But I'm trying to raise 50mil for mansion and furniture. Thanks for the farming tip whoever said previously. >.>
