Pretty sure they mentioned this would be a thing eventually, but I can't remember where.

Becuase now I am actually interested in finishing it at some point instead of most likely never finishing it. They previous glow gave me migraines. Why should I do all that work for a weapon I couldn't even show off because I couldn't even look at it.
If I'm going to put a ton of work into something, it's not so I am required to glamour over it just so I can tolerate using it.
It's an improvement, but of all of the Zeta weapons I still largely dislike the Paladin glow. It's still too much. The glow cage on the blade is still way too large for my tastes. I think it would have been perfect if the cage extended no more than a handful of pixels from the edge of the blade.
At least the base Zodiac sword is one of better looking ones though.
I rather enjoy the new look of Apocalypse. It seems like the jobs fall on either a holy/divine or dark/void side of things.

This is why we can't have nice things...why are ppl so whiny about glowing weapons?
The Zodiac Braves wielded weapons that shone like thousand suns (well that would be to much) but why should weapons that are brimming with energy, look as plain as every other wep in the game?
The glow is the only thing that differentiates the relic, from every other wep.
I HATED the SCH nexus, and I don't understand the people who liked it. How could our characters read it when the light would have melted their eyeballs out of their sockets? The Zeta glow is so much better. I'm happy the devs didn't go crazy with it. It makes sense now.
A weapon can have unique features to it without being obessively glowy to the point that it obstructs the latter. Examples would be Artemis Bow having a unique animation fit for a bard, Yoshimitsu being the only ninjatos in the game fitting for a ninja, and Gae Bolg's design, among other weapons.
And on the other end, thats where most of the zodiac weapons fall short imo, a good amount of them exchanged that unique design for a pretty bland and generic design (again, looking at the yoichi bow, sasuke blades, among other weapons) that do not fit the concept of our jobs (compact harp versus a longbow, gigianticass cleavers versus ninjatos, coeurl fists versus...claws...) and we have nothing to work off who the zodiac braves really are because they never expanded upon that throughout the questline.
I don't have it yet, but I won't like it for the Paladin for sure. The Gold matches my armor, the glow throws everything off XD
Well, surprisingly my Lilith Zeta is the first glowing weapon that i did not glamoured... so i think i like it.
The purple light on it looks dark and classy whereas novus/animus looked like radioactive rods
MNK, DRG and WHM's glow looks cool
BRD's fugly as usual.
I actually like the Last Resort Zeta. It's distinctive without being completely overwhelming.
Omnilex Nexus wasn't bad, exactly, but the term "radioactive birthday cake" does come to mind.
I think the challenge with the books is that they just aren't very...big. Nirvana and Lilith Rod Zetas both look fantastic, but there's also a lot more room for effects. If there's a problem with Last Resort Zeta, it's that it's very understated compared to most other weapons even within the Zeta category.
when looking at the zeta i like quite a few of them, my least fave being excalibur. but i do wished they added a tracer effect to the ninja weapons
a tracer effect (for anyone who dosnt know :3) is an effect that draws a link from an objects original position to its new position and fades away after some time
noteable example from recent gaming
Ciaus' sword the ragnarok in FF13 lightning returns (the eye has this)
skyrim (image below) uses this effect for the dragger (the image is someone who modded it to allow them to have it)
http://i42.tinypic.com/2d11thy.jpg
(a good example of mid trace effect)
i felt the ninja weapons that were so flowing and moving could of benefited with a small tracer effect
other then that i do adore the simpler yet visually appealing glow effects this time
(oh and ragnarok should of dripped blood in my opinion but i know that wouldn't be aloud due to differing laws :c)
Wish they made the bow more like the axe in terms of the glow. Ghost extension to the bow arms. Not the silly glyph infront.
The point is, some love a very dominant glow while others do not. Neither opinion should be "listened to" over the other.
Add a way to offer both should be the only solution SE considers. And toss in the option to turn off the glow for self and others as well.
I personally love the glows to be strong...faint glows look terrible imo.
-add ability to choose glow color, intensity, on/off options too.
plz consider SE ty
Give me back my old Stardust Animus Rod ;-;
Hi, the crazy relic user here!
So... I don't have all zeta (And, it's going to take time, heh...) But... I already have seen some of them and, comparing with the nexus I have to say that...I prefer most of Nexus, except for some exceptions:
BRD -> I like nexus more, but basically because I hate Yoichi's bow design, the glow in zeta is not baddish, similar to Last Resort, but...
Monk-> I prefer Sphairai nexus, Kaiser knuckles are ugh.
lolDRG -> I prefer Gae Bolg nexus, it's just... Awesome
NIN -> I prefer Yoshimitsu Nexus, it's daamn awesome! (But Sasuke's Blades Zeta are not bad)
WHM -> I prefer Thyrus nexus, Nirvana Zeta is not baddish, but... Still, not liking design and that glow doesn't compensate.
SCH -> Okay, This is one of the only ones I can say I prefer the Zeta, Last Resort has awesome design and... Omnilex Nexus blinds me, it's painful nya...
BLM -> This is another Zodiac Zeta I like more, because the glow is cool and because I hate Stardust design A LOT. (I seriously thought about glamouring for astrolabe, but... Relic pride)
SMN -> Can't say... I don't see many, and my SMN is the only one, together with BRD, that stills in atma state.
WAR -> I dislike Bravura's design a lot, and even in nexus it's not awesome. I like Ragnarok a lot, especially Ragnarok Zeta.
PLD -> While curtana is awesome looking too... Exalibur Zeta is just too awesome. I prefer the glow and design it has in comparison with Lightsaber Nexus.
Some of the glows look very cool (Ninja, Paladin, Warrior, Dragoon, Black Mage) but some are downright ugly (Scholar, Bard). As a SCH, I was expecting an awesome update to The Last Resort (I was thinking glowy wings to accent the wings on it for example...daydreams are bad) but no, it's a circle. A mildly interesting circle, but it's nothing special. If you set it next to an upgraded Shiva weapon, it wouldn't look cooler or more interesting. After all the hours people put into their relics, they should have the coolest looking weapons in the game IMO. I like all the other SCH relic levels (minus original and atma) a whole lot more than what I've seen of The Last Resort Zeta.
A lot of the Nexus glows were way overdone, but you can have an awesome, "look at me!" glow without it being the center of a star. Look at the Dragoon and Black Mage Zetas - they're awesome, unique, and obvious.
Honestly, my standpoint on them is that some obviously got more love being created than others. That's how it looks to me, anyways.
I agree with this 100%. Saying the glow is too dominant is an opinion and shouldn't decide what the items will look like. Saying the glow is too subtle is an opinion and shouldn't decide what the items will look like. Either way, an option would be amazing, at the very least an on/off option. It wouldn't be hard, the weapon would just stay like its sheathed non-glowing version when you take it out.
I like this idea as well. An easier solution on SE's end, maybe.
I really like my WhiteMage Zeta glow.. it almost looks like golden glowing feathers. A big improvement IMO from the gawd awful blindness of the Novus =P
Got my Nirvana Zeta yesterday and I love it, and saw the SCH weapon and I also liked it. Just prooved to me that glows can actually look cool lol.
Edit- That said I'd love to be able to pick more colors for the glow. White would go awesome with my new glamour and pure white colored weapon :D
The Lilith Rod went from looking like a trashy bat chandelier to looking REALLY cool with the glow effects. Such a simple touch completely changed it. I'm beyond impressed. Was going to glamour it into something else.... now it's my favorite rod in the collection.
I honestly would prefer if turning off the glow on my weapon didn't currently require me to redo the entire zodiac chain from the basic curtana. The pulsating crystals most of the zodiac weapons have are tasteful and look nice, the glow, specially for excalibur, I dislike.
I have my Smn done and I like the effect. The Bard's I havnt seen yet. I just hope the Sch. effect isnt over board.....
Love my Longinus but at the moment it's really annoying me. When I draw Longinus out the tip spins into place. Sadly the glow effect doesn't also spin and appears while the spear is still spinning leading to an awkward look of it as the spear rotates into the glow effect. Pretty much ruins the effect that the glow is coming from the spear tips. :P
The new glow enhances my Lilith Rod instead of the overpowering Aura of the previous glows. I like this far far more.
