He is talking about post-2.0 story being that Nero now uses a Gunblade as shown in CT storyline. What happened to his Gunhammer is unknown for now.

hmm, I think I sort of totally ignored this part where he trades his awesome hammer for a blade. Maybe because I don't want him to become bland :(
I mean, there is already a gunblade (Gaius), gunwrists (Livia) with blades on the other hand of the wristbands, gunshields (the other guy whose name I forgot), please at least keep the gunhammer :(
Well Nero's gunblade was more of a rifleblade, so it was still pretty unique looking (it might share a base model with Gaius' though). I was quite enamored of how he threw it through someone. XD I think it was actually kind of impressive that Square had a character take the practicality route over just reusing the weapon model--lugging a huge hammer all the way up the crystal tower would have been quite odd, so they actually bothered to give him something slightly more useable in that context.
Ya it was more of a choice between a weapon designed for melee/range and being light to carry around against a Giant hammer made for Melee combat only and heavy to carry.
Being the wanderer he is now, Nero choice for using a Gunblade appears more useful than his Gunhammer for a long run as he travels.
