Ive noticed a climb in population on Saronia as well lately.
Glad to hear other servers are experiencing higher population aswell.
Part of the rise of new players might be related to this thread: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...V-Video-Series
Samb0nz makes some nice quality Let's play videos, and have been seeing quite a few comments on his FFXIV ones about people getting interested in the game, or returning people noticing an improvement in the game. Word of Mouth can be very powerful. As he is encouraging people that are interested to try the game now to see if it fits their likes, as now is likely one of the better times to give the game a chance, before it goes to PS3 or has the sub fee started up.
Wutai was dead before 1.18, but many returned with that patch and I'm still noticing population increase. Ignore the FFXIVPro figures being posted, that only takes into account how many hardcore kept playing. Wutai will always be a popular server due to its FFVII name. A lot of hardcore avoided the server at release due to its FFVII connections however.
True. I built a pc for this game at launch, and the graphics card alone was $700. But i still can't quite get this game to max settings. That same series of cards is only just now entering the $200-300 range. Also mind that a lot of people want to play on laptops. A lot of people have computers that are a couple years old.Quote:
But i think the big % of player base are PS3 users due to them not having money to build a pc or don't want to build a pc just for 1 game they like to play.
This game was ****ed for PC even with a 90% metascore just because of the system requirements.
That said, by the time the PS3 version comes out, and word of mouth shows this game to have hit a stride,
more and more people will have a PC or laptop that can run the game.
Well in XI your PS2 needed an add-on to even be able to play the game and for xBox you had to pay the $10 per month for xBox Live Gold and then the $10 or $12 or whatever per month for the FFXI account if you wanted one character, so it was more expensive than other means. The PC requirements are incredibly low though so it was easy to run. Also going through all that PlayOnline crap was a real bitch on the xBox.
Kashaun has been on the rise since 1.17, and after 1.18 took a significant jump in population. Sadly this seems to be mostly true just for the Ul'dah area and not the other 2 cities. While the population increase is great, until they can put some butts in the seats in LL and Gridania, most servers will still be grossly underpopulated.
I'm also on Saronia, and it's still terribly quiet. It's hard to find people to form a party, unless you're in a large LS, and it seems like people just come and go far too much, so it's impossible to maintain a reasonably-sized LS of approximately 20-25 regulars. I just wish they would merge a few of the less populated servers.
Just recruited 2 more people that are new on Besaid! :D
Saronia seems pretty quiet; La Noscea and Black Shroud are really devoid of players. Thanalan is packed though, seems everyone goes to Ul'Dah now. What's irritating is that the Market Wards are almost empty in LL/Grid so if you need new gear you have to go to Ul'Dah.
Sort of a pain when I'm grinding for ARC marks in Grid, then have to go to Ul'Dah to get new equips, then back to Grid again.
besaid is becoming more populated and people are talking to each other quite a bit which is a big change compared to when i started on CE release day and nobody talked to each other at all and soloed everything in the last month alone my ls numbers went from like 26 total members to 94 and we usually have a fair amount of them on at all times since we have people from most time zones
I just started myself ^_^! Glad to be here, but I have to admit, I keep running around like a retard completely unsure of what I should be doing. While I'm new to FF, I'm not new to MMOs and I've never felt so lost and confused. I'm enjoying the story though, and I hope this doesn't last long.
And even before 1.18 i'd say, about a month before patch 1.18 a ton of new people joined Selbina, some are now in my LS, I like it, I'm taking advantage of this new players = new people to teach, if you teach people how to play according how you like to play haha its nice.
Ive noticed the lag increase too =which means more people
Of course the player base is growing! Now I see people wherever I go, many new players have joined and even more have returned, 1.18 was the patch many of us had been waiting for :)
I reinstalled the game about a week ago after a 9 month hiatus (I stopped playing in November) and have been having a lot of fun checking out the new stuff. While the game still has room for improvement, it's certainly a lot more fun now than it was back in November.
My one complaint at this time is on my server (Fabul), it's very quiet. I haven't spoken to a single person, despite seeing individuals and small parties doing their thing. In fact, I'd go so far as to say I feel like I'm playing a single-player game at this point. The people I do see wandering around all have Japanese-sounding names (like Toshiro, for example), so I don't even bother trying to talk to them.
But aside from that, I'm having fun and am eager to see what S-E has coming down the pipe (which is quite refreshing considering how I felt about the game back in November). If your on Fabul and you see me wandering around doing my thing, feel free to wave and say hi. :)
if we had a proper search function we could really find out.
But that aside alot of ppl in Mysidia. I know of alot of ppl abandoning xi and coming to xiv. alot of the ppl on my xi server are new players who have joined within the past few months. Now too keep these players we need the seek party command, no need for pages or level sync or anything of that, just give us search functions to help retain the shier of players who wont actively seek a ls lol
lol i still see RP on besaid from time to time but not nearly as much as i used to mainly alot of people have been focused on getting ranks really fast as of late i see alot of party shouts and the occasional boredom shout filled with song lyrics
Hurray..... Lindblun is growing again ^_^
