We want new unique pose or rename Highlanders to "Hildebranders"!
Greetings,
We have read through the comments here and can understand your feelings regarding the Hildibrand emote.
Since Hildibrand is a very popular character that players want to emulate, we introduced his special pose so they could have fun pretending to be their favorite detective. I understand that there can only be one Highlander… pose, but we ask that you appreciate that other adventurers have taken such a strong interest in your style.
As for the request to add a new pose for Highlanders, although we understand your feelings, we currently do not have any plans to add this.
This is just a hypothetical, but say in the future we added another popular NPC from another race, and that NPC is cherished by everyone, just as Hildibrand has captivated us, and then adventurers fall in love with that NPC; in that case we may do something similar to what we did this time.
In the future, if we decide to add individual race-specific poses, we’ll use all your suggestions during the planning process.
Personally, I think you should change your plans because it's sort of a bummer to have *essentially* your special emote given out to everybody without compensation. But I understand :(
B-b-u.. p-p.. pff.. Fine.. It makes sense to emulate; although, I'm curious if anyone will ever want to emulate anyone but the Highlanders because.. why would you not? :D
(If someone is bored and wants to add another race specific pose, Hildibrand /and/ Godbert have a bunch of other poses we could use... *nudge nudge*)
Thanks for replying :)
Not really race specific, but I was thinking Shantotto's laugh would be something people may want to emulate.
I think this is a case of people being too selfish/greedy. Be thankful for what you have.
Ha! I was not expecting a Highlander reference! This prompted me to look for how many characters out there are named Duncan MacLeod.
On topic, thank you for the /hildy pose. I think it's very fun. The lady Roe pose is very entertaining, you might want to consider that one for your next character.
It's a pity that all men can be your equal now.
Highlanders should get Hildy's "thinking" pose.
This just in, people will complain about anything.
Thank you for replying! Finally dev listen our request :D
So much whining because you can't be a special snowflake anymore. Boo hoo.
Aside from the subtle variations between Highlander male default /pose and /hildy, did you guys really think they'd never release that iconic Hildibrand pose for everyone at some point in time? Hildibrand is a Highlander, if you want to blame anything for you muscleheads losing your special snowflake pose, blame the fact Hildibrand was chosen to be a Highlander rather than a "flagship" race such as Miqo'te or Lalafell.
Granted, I'm of the mind that /pose from all races should just be unlocked for everyone, as it lets everyone have their own unique character rather than using the exact same pose as everyone else within their race. But maybe that's just me.
Well to be fair we basically didn't get an emote, just our normal pose with a teeth sparkle. lol
Your end made me less annoyed but the beginning I feel is an unfair statement, its not like we're all the same now - literally Highlanders are the only one to be sharing a pose, everyone else is a snowflake but we're not. And somehow people are saying we're being selfish because we're the only ones not unique anymore. We're asking to be like everyone else again.
But I agree to your end statement that a "movement" does not necessarily need to be locked and everyone could/should technically be able to emulate everyone else (with physiological differences being represented, like miqote get the tail thing cause.. tail). This isn't true though, and if it was I'd feel absolutely "equal" but atm Highlander is down one and everyone else is up one.. its not quite equal, or about being selfish.
That wouldn't be a bother at all. Because yknow, it's a damn movement. And it would bring more choices to all players, as I'm sure some people would love to have manqo'te crouch, as it works with certain character personalities far better than a regular "sit down flat on the ground and stretch out" does. Warrior-types in particular come to mind when I think of how the manqo'te crouch would be good for other races.
Highlander men are getting bent out of shape over a movement. It's kind of ridiculous. Especially when you act so surprised that everyone was given the Hildibrand pose (which ends up meaning the Highlander pose, just with differences more akin to our beloved inspector). Hildibrand is one of the most iconic and beloved characters of FFXIV, and many people want to emulate him - which includes that iconic pose. A pose he made iconic by the good graces of happening to be a Highlander man. It was only a matter of time before they gave his iconic pose to everyone, so that we could all be like our favorite inspector extraordinaire.
I honestly do not see the problem with you losing a single unique movement. Highlander men still have EVERY OTHER EMOTE being unique to them (or as unique as some emotes can get, but you get my point). Losing one single emote is not going to hurt you people, especially when the /hildy emote has subtle difference to make it unique from regular Highlander /pose, in the first place.
Really at this point, I say SE should just give all emotes a /cpose option to make it be a different race's emote. Want to sit like an Elezen man on a female miqo'te? /sit >>> /cpose until you get to the male Elezen pose. I think doing that would open up a ton of extra customization for everyone by allowing us to pick our own preferred "style" based upon emotes we prefer from other races for our current race.
God knows I'd love some of the female Highlander emotes for my cats. Highlander women are adorably expressive.
If they had actual eyebrows this game would become too sexy for me to handle.
This is extremely generic. And thats not HIS special pose its highlander pose because he is a highlander. So as to your response, there are several very popular characters that I wish to emulate, please tell devs to add costumes and emotes for all. I need thancreds backflip, and minfilias wonder bra.
On a serious note though, my main is highlander and I was kind of disappointed to see everyone can have this but also hoped it might mean they would unlock the other poses or give a new one. But you say there are no plans for that either? thats a bad call and we shouldve gotten his /think pose not his RACIAL pose.
Actually, I'm pretty sure most are just suggesting that if the developers are going to share one race's pose, then share all the poses from every race. OR, if they're determined to not do that, then give Highlanders a unique pose like everyone else has. That's not even touching on the fact that the new Hildibrand pose is pretty much useless to Highlanders (who already mostly had it), which essentially means everyone received an additional emote except for male Highlanders.
It seems like a pretty reasonable point, and for as much as you're complaining about people getting "bent out of shape" over a movement, I would question why you're getting bent out of shape over text in the form of a request on a forum thread. Unlike your initial comment suggested, nobody is asking to be a special snowflake, they're only asking for options and resources to be distributed equally amongst all race types.
It's really odd how the community seems to be keeping track of who got which new hairstyle last, but when we're talking about emotes it is (in your mind) suddenly a silly thing to stress about? We all only have only so many ways to express the differences in our characters, and you'll have to excuse people if they feel each and every option counts.
Asking for Highlanders to get a new emote just because your /pose (one emote out of MANY) is "no longer unique" even when /hildy already has differences within it to differentiate itself from even the default Highlander male /pose, IS kind of being a special snowflake and getting bent out of shape over nothing. If Highlanders lost every single unique animation they have thanks to the Hildibrand reward, then I would slightly understand (even if I'm, again, of the mind that all emote variations should be available to all races just for further customization), but that is not what happened. You didn't even lose your /pose, Hildibrand's pose is not only persistent, but the teeth shine is not something that Highlander men have. Subtle differences, yes, but differences still.
Demanding that the devs give a brand new emote to Highlanders just because you're all bent out of shape over people having an iconic pose from Hildibrand (who just happens to be a highlander), is ridiculous and childish.
Op, I and others have said its not game breaking just disappointing (seriously, "all bent out of shape"?). Also the emotes are so similar that I highly doubt the great majority of Highlanders would be sad if they got a new one as the Hildibrand version stayed. You're being a bit sensational and misrepresenting in your literal attack that had little to do with you.
The desire is to be unique yes, but to be unique like all the other races again - kind of sad to tell someone they can't be special as you are yourself. I suppose its childish to be on the same footing as other races. You may argue that "its only slightly different, so not the same", but you can clearly tell by most of the pro "new animations, particularly don't waste your money just give us another Hildibrand/Godbert" that they see the new animation so similar that it shan't be called different.
And yes I know you think everyone could have everyone's emotes and that would be dandy, but that is not the case currently and that is not anywhere near SE's intentions - its a nice pipe dream but its not the reality and not worth any salt basing an argument that involves calling people children, and selfish.
Imo, you're being rude for what seems like matters no reason to you, or SE. No one here told SE they failed at life or that the game is not worth playing anymore or wanted to be more than the other races, they just wanted to be in their own vision similar to everyone else again, they wanted to fit in. :(
Highlanderss should get 'Hildy Think', job done.
Go back through the thread. How many posts do you see with Highlanders going "we DEMAND [x thing]" in offense of all races receiving a slightly altered and persistent Highlander /pose based upon Hildibrand (who happens to be Highlander)?
Please tell me again how you people aren't acting childish about something that literally is not a huge deal at all. Trying to defend yourselves and going "bububu we just wanna be unique again qqqq" isn't helping you to appear less childish in my eyes for getting all ruffled about Hildibrand's pose. And no amount of you trying to argue a moot point is going to change that outlook, especially if all you keep harping on about is "weeh we wanna be unique again even when we're the only subset of a race to have unique poses between the subsets weeh". Seriously, you have emote animations that not even Midlanders, the not-so-buff Hyurs, have. Please tell me again how losing a single /pose emote is making you guys not as unique anymore.
X or riot. It doesn't mean actually rioting, its just a figure of speech.
Midlanders have their own set of animations I dont get your comparison between the two. I'm not sure why SE stopped unqiue animations between clans at the hyur race, but we don't share midlanders unique pose. It is still one less animation down, regardless if you want to point out the weird relationship mid and highlanders have between each other.
Losing an emote is losing an emote- its not the end of the world but it does make the total evaluation of highlander different.
Edit: ^ Evaluation as in 1+1+1=3, one less emote =2, evaluation now different.
You mean like how every race has had unique hairstyles in a patch, except for midlander hyur? :p When the hyur got their hairstyle (long hair + dreads), they were only accessible by highlanders. Not midlanders. They had to wait until the hairstyle unlocked for all the other races.
If you seriously think losing one single unique emote animation makes "the total evaluation of Highlander different", then you have some problems that extend beyond just Highlanders not having a special unique /pose anymore (even though they technically still do). Considering an entire thread was made for all you people to complain about it as if it's some great travesty, I do believe for some people this is somehow the end of the world or the end of the "Highlander appeal". You all may wanna work that out somewhere outside of an MMO's forums.
If all races got the male Miqo'te /sit there'd be "qqqq" from the cat people as well.
Then you would be no Highlander anymore, but just a big Midlander.
This is like asking Moon Keepers to have the Sun Seekers eyes.
To SE: I see some options to resolve it
1. Give Highlanders a new unique /pose, so they also get a new emote from 2.5 and not one they already have
2. Give Highlanders at least the /pose of the Midlanders, so it would be the Hyur /pose
And don't give racial /pose as a quest reward to other races anymore, do a complete new emote for this.
I don't want to see male Roegadyns doing the female Miqo'te /pose, as an example ^^
I think the thing about the eyebrows however, is that Highlander men do have eyebrows we just ritually shave them off every morning. Its not so much a physiological difference as a cultural one (which is why "if" they made movements about movements and not about identifying a race (as they are now) I'd be ok with everyone being able to do everything, even though that would probably make some really creepy moments)
like:
lol
The minor damage has been done, I'd still like my eyebrows and in my own opinion I found your offerings more than fair- but it is good that they said they'll consider this sort of response in the future. We're currently with races who's identities are excluded to make the little behaviors represent the race, and I can see your argument on eyebrows in this- I just .. really.. want.. my brows.. :P. For this quest reward though, SE took a unique turn by stopping that sense of restricted identity, and I expect the exact same thing to happen if they did it to any other racial animation. At least if it was an animation people liked and felt associated them to their race, I imagine for some male Roe animations no male roe would care about losing... eheheheh-haha.
Midlanders did get a unique hairstyle, it was snuck in with the Elezen's, kind of like how Lala's was snuck in with the Miqo'tes hairstyle.
I can't understand all the QQ over some animation. I would not even care if all races could do each others /pose. (Infact I would enjoy that more then how it is now.)
It's not like in real life different "races" have their own /pose that no one else can do.
Sure there are cultural dances and such, but anyone could imitate those with practice.
And remember: This is a game! So relax and try to have fun instead. If you can't just because of some animation being used by others, there are plenty of games where people can feel "special".
Absolutely, but clearly in FFXIV there are restrictions so you can't mix that view with this one and then blame people for feeling there was a change in dynamics. In eorzea races are bound by animations, Earth view is not incorporated.
If they change it, that would be ok imo - it would also give Highlanders excuse to stop shaving their eyebrows, per using an Earth view and not Eorzean. Also, we'd get half breeds, which would also be pretty cool. But thats not true right now, so please try to understand that "its just a movement like dances in the real world" is not exactly apply-able to the game, because the game is not following real world thoughts.
And again, please stop all this QQ comments. Is it honestly the truth that if someone has a complaint that they are crying or find what they dislike an end of the world disaster? It has been stated a few times that we, or most of us, do not view this as end of the world material - just a bit annoying. "QQ" and like comments are meant to be insulting.. Why - did the OP hurt anyone?
I dunno if the OP hurt someone, I'm just personally tired of people complaining about everything in todays gaming world when something does not fall into their liking And yes I know that it's not EVERYone, but many do.
And like Grekumah said in his comment.
Who doesn't like to imitate their idols?
Heck even I said something like that on the second page.
I did not even know that this /pose already existed untill this thread opened.
