Off Tank DPS - is Pld > War still a valid arguement?

Ok i see that now? How can we make sense of this? Why would the WAR have half the ammount of hits that the PLD has? Furthermore how does the PLD have 150 more hits than the MNK who gets more attacks in per GCD? Perhaps the War died at some point?

Sword oath adds another 'hit' with every auto attack. Add to that the auto attack speed of pld is faster (sword faster than g. Axe) and that's where the hits cone from. And yea, it's been known for a while for tank dps: sword pld> war> def war> shield pld. Groups like lucrezia are so sharp that their tanks need very very little hp so they gear str, spec str, and tank in sword oath/no defiance as often as possible. And of course they are very, very well geared.
