Nothing like being in a tall party and destroying their DPS rotation out of the water on my BLM, or LB Raise in a clinch. Never underestimate the small quiet guy in the corner.

I can't get past the dead eyes and the child like animated Doll look, they all look like creepy little animated porcelain dolls. I expect it to be revealed that they are all tools of a necromancer eventually :)
They are there for sacrificing
Every time i let my FC mate die at the last boss, I get my zodiac drop >DDDDDDD
Lala's are too darned adorable, and that's why I play one. It's also the reason I want SE to release a Lalafell plushie. They're infinitely cuter than any Moogle.
On another note, having played as a Lalafell since 1.0 it always feels weird going to play as one of the other races now. Lalafell run in their walking animation, and while I know the actual speed remains constant it FEELS slower on bigger races because their footsteps are that much wider. Especially Roegadyn. It's why I've only ever had a Roe for approximately 5 minutes.
I LOVE lala's because they're adorable. Played one for along time, may switch back one day. Main reason I switched from lala is the hairstyles. I dislike all of the hairstyles the male lala's currently have. Well...to be more specific I dislike the hairstyles on them. Some of the hairstyles options they have look so much better on male kitties.
I'm waiting for a simple, short, haircut that doesn't look spiky or has some weird aspect to it like a curl or whatever.
people who played with their food as kids, they do the same in game by playing as a Lala
Someone likes tough-looking heroes, someone likes badass-looking heroes, someone likes sexy heroines, and others like adorable heroes.
I'm 5'7" in real life, pretty average, but the shortest one in my immediate family (dad 5'10", mom 6', brothers 6'3" and 6'5") And they call me "midget". I just like to feel like it means something... plus it's adorable. I didn't want to be sexy, I wanted to be cute. I have other Races as Alts for RP purposes but I love lalafels.
I'm suprised no one even mentioned about the "exclusive lalafel view" only a lala would understand this ;)
Lalafells are pretty adorable. I even have a Lalafell alt on Hyperion. However, I don't like playing characters that are shorter than me. I don't like being high enough to end up with a face full of Hyur junk (or Roe or Elezan or Miqo'te). The way they walk kind of bothers me. It's as if they are unable to bend their legs from the knees.
I play most cute in game ^^
in FFXI also I play Taru, and transfer to FFXIV my person! so everything look the same way!
But, i choose for few reason this. It is very cute in RP, and has most magic in battle. I most play BLM, so maybe part is stereotype.
Black Mages and Thaumaturges certainly live in a Lalafel world.
I played lala back then for the cuteness and emote spams.
But i soon realized that glamours suck on them besides trying to look cute, can't look cool, sexy, or anything else. so i had to switch to elezen which was fashion master race. But after getting bored i tried miq'ote.
I liked one of the hairstyles :3 that's my sole reason. Plus if they ever released Nanamos style I'd be heaven.
I know what you mean. I played male miqo'te in beta, so when I tried a female roe, I was all eurrghh dat's so sloooow. But when I recreated her for the next phase of beta, I got accustomed to it and now I don't find it slow at all. ^^ Though I do feel a bit motion sick when I play my lala alt with camera zoomed in and sprint. @u@;
The same reason you picked a boring human. Different Strokes.
Why does anyone choose any race really?
I could ask 'why all the damn cat ppl?'
As to why people I've known choose lala/why I did:
1. Mage FFXI vet...they played a taru in 11 and are now 'use' to the character/nostalgia for the character.
2. They like short races/cute races
3. PvP 'slight advantage' (they are harder to target...it's only slightly true, but they still can hide/avoid targets slightly easier)
4. They like the emotes
5. It doesn't make sense until you play one...but the game world looks and feels entirely different when the grass is taller than you. Some people enjoy truely epic looking monsters/views etc.
6. There is the 'perv' factor...underboobage everywhere. (I kinda hated this part and one small reason why I am no longer a lala...but others, this is their thing).
I'm sure there's more reasons I didn't think of. I mainly rolled a lala in 1.0 because I was a taru in 11 and I thought they were cute/they grew on me. I switched to Roe in 2.0 because 1. It was now offered (Female Roe wasn't in 1.0) and 2, since I play 'backline' roles, being tall was easier for me camera angle/vision wise in battles. Also...i think Roes actually are built/look like someone who'd be battle-hardened. But that's me....still <3 my lala friends though :)
Played Taru and i liked it in FFXI thats why :/.
This. I love my lala, he's cute. But, I hate the fact the camera angles suck. I can't zoom in proberly and have a good look at my character/gear, unless it's in my actual character menu. Most i can see at full zoom in is the top of my head lol.
Keepers of the Moon, I shall return to you.
I play a lala because I wanted a change from Elezen, but other race choices didn't appeal to me, and lalas, as well as tarutaru, have always intrigued me. I played as an Elvaan for over 3 years on XI, then spent a good 1.5+ years playing as an Elezen during 1.0, so when it came time to select a race for 2.0, I opted to play as a lala. Playing as a Male Mi'qote was my other choice, but because I had RL best friends who played the game, both of which were male Mi'qote, I opted to go with a lala. Another part of the reason for my choice is tarutaru in XI were always the absolute best magic users, and I typically lean towards playing mage classes so I thought lala would also be a good choice for that reason. I've been very satisfied playing as a lala and for those who say lalas can't look cool in the gear offered in game, you're doing it wrong. My Smn is glamoured to actually look pretty pimp at i106. Wish I could log on and switch classes, but I'm at work.
chicks. chicks dig lalafells
This video sums it up :D link it's how I feel when playing one. ;)
They're adorable, especially the sassy ones. I wish there were more in the Goblin server, and I wish they were all my friends too. <:T
When I played FFXI, I was a taru because they had distinct advantages as the Black Mage class. I personally like playing shorter characters anyway, because there is just this distinct rewarding feeling when the tiniest little guy takes out a dragon.
I played short, childish characters in Phantasy star too. I just like the idea of the childish or childlike hero.
If she (or anyone) thinks that's creepy, then she (or anyone) may want to re-examine their own tastes, because I bet they've played Legend of Zelda...you little child-creepers you ^_~
Or Zidane or Vivi (FF9) Or Clementine (Walking dead) Or Jimmy Thatcher (Bully) Icarus (Kid Icarus) Ness (Earthbound / Mother2) Diddy Kong (Donkey Kong) Ash (ANY POKEMON GAME)
Kids aren't creepy to play, they're actually pretty popular. There is something to be said for the child hero.
<3 Plus, we're adorable, have fun emotes, and are exceptional at creeping up on people unexpectedly. Great for humor/rp (I personally Jump on people's beds for RP...and it's fun to irk them that way XD) and just generally are amusing.
My question is Why do you care if others play lalafell? If you're curious, try it out yourself! ^.^
if you're trying to belittle our decisions (hur hur, see what I did there? Little? get it? ) you will find most of us dont care what you think, and will keep on tinying on.
Oh, and one last thing?
We butt-carted so much better than you.
For Coin and Country, of course.
And if they looked like Tarutaru, I'd be right there playing one again. Taru heads were much larger in FFXI; a significant portion of their body was their head.

Lalafell are built differently, though.. they look more like pear-shaped children.

They're still cute, just not Taru-level adorable. :( I miss the Tarutaru.
Hmm, I think a lot of people just can't comprehend not wanting to play to look sexy or cool, which is why they don't understand the appeal of Lalafell. Even when I was Elezen I didn't particularly want my character to look sexy.
Another factor is, I love the way "silly" or novely gear looks on Lalafell. Things like the Goblin cap, santa/reindeer suits etc, I feel like they look weird or creepy on most races, but on Lalas they actually look really cute. I enjoy wearing seasonal gear a lot more as a Lalafell.
I don't know why liking cuteness is so hard to understand....
I'm 6 foot and 2.5 inches in real life with a big beard, it's nice to be able to escape and be a tiny lalafell pack full of cuteness after a long day of being a tough, rough, and buff man all day long.
The world feels bigger.
As others have said, I love looking at my gear and seeing the effort put into it. Lala's is harder to appreciate the looks. I played one for a few months just before the glamor system came out. Some of the pieces i wanted to use just didn't look as nice (hard to see stuff on them) and changed back to my Male Cat. Sometimes I am tempted to go back to being a Lala if I could aford too.
I play lalafell because it's the race I like in the game. :D
Why do you play your race? ;D
Cause I like the look of mine. If I'm going to look at something for hours at a time I want to like what I'm looking at, lol.
I love my hairstyle and never want to change it. Had it from the start of 3rd beta of 2.0.
