Men's Contest Judge Scores and Feedback
Adam Fylrmyn
Judge A: "Great idea for a shot! You pulled it off amazingly well and your gorgeous -yet- insanely -evil costar enhanced the shot without pulling focus from you. Love your expression and the horror movie feel. Great job once again! Ps don’t turn around" Score: 3
Judge B: "Oh no, look out! I always have to give props for working with mobs and trying to get a shot because it is NOT easy. This one is magnificently timed, though. I think you and the mobs position is perfect and the angle is great too. I love the spiderweb in the corner of the background too. My only problem is that I think your expression is a bit off, or I'm not getting the story from it. If there was a shocked concern like 'what's that behind me??' or a pained expression like bracing for the final blow, it would've sold me on all of it. Still, my favorite of the boys. " Score: 3
Judge C: "I love the look of dejected acceptance on your face here! This was a bold concept to try and pull off and you absolutely nailed it. You take up exactly enough of the frame to command attention and the succubus is just off to the side enough to stop you blocking her without unbalancing the shot. Wonderful job!" Score: 3
Aiden Weaver
Judge A: "I really like your idea for this shot. I also like how you positioned yourself in the shot to give it depth and give us, the viewer a complete story. Hopefully your hiding spot is good enough to avoid that maidservant. I think if there was less open space, and/or the maidservant was lurking a bit closer to you it would have given a much creepier vibe but overall well done" Score: 2
Judge B: "At first glance, I wasn't quite sure what was going on, but the more I looked the more I liked it. You look like a thief who is maybe bit off more than he can chew. I like your hiding pose and I LOVE the view of the room that I think a lot of people really miss in this dungeon, so well done for that! That being said, this shot doesn't scream 'creepy' to me like the other shots. Still, I love the shot overall! " Score: 1
Judge C: "The use of depth here is very well done. I like that you really ran with a more "suspense" type of creepy than many others did and you sold it well, especially with your Jill Valentine inspired outfit. My only complaint is that the succubus is a little -too- far into the background so that the effect is initially lost a little. Otherwise, excellent!" Score: 2
Epsil Ion
Judge A: "I find this as one of the creepier shots of the bunch which is a good thing considering that was your assignment. I also like the possessed priest vibe, the candles /altar, your creepy bloody face paint and summoning pose. My only real issue is the light off your staff being blue, which isn’t something that can be helped, as it doesn’t read creepy and or evil to me. Had you been able to take this shot without that spell effect I think you would have sold the concept 100%. Still a good shot though" Score: 2
Judge B: "Your pose alongside the candle is VERY creepy - I like it! It's just unfortunate that I think the blue spell light is really killing the shot for me. Not only is it giving me a good, happy feel working against your pose, but it's obscuring the background and ruining the depth that the candle and you made interesting. Still, the animated pose, outfit and make-up were great choices! " Score: 2
Judge C: "Great use of makeup and a wonderful creepy sacrifice shot! What does take me away from it though is that the spell effect unbalances the shot for me, it makes the right side feel very empty. The wine rack helps, but it still feels rather unbalanced. Great concept that with a few minor tweaks could ahve really excelled!" Score: 2
Flare Raulbel
Judge A: "Flare you evil little imp. You have successfully creeped me out and I hope I never run into you in Haukke Manor. Your pose and evil expression are perfectly haunting as you stand nonchalantly in that puddle of blood on the floor. Great job!" Score: 3
Judge B: "This was another shot that I wasn't entirely excited with at first, but when I started examining the details...very creepy! I totally missed the blood splatter at first glance, but I love that it looks like you got some on your face too. A very creepy manor butler indeed. I actually really like the background too. It shows quite a lot of depth and the window is has an eerie beauty to it. Aside from the blood splatter though, the foreground does feel very empty. I think the shot might be more interesting if taken from the 180 where you're in front of the door to the boss showing in the next victims. Regardless, good job! " Score: 2
Judge C: "This is a shot that really shows attention to the little details that all come together to make a great shot. The bloodstain on the floor, the colours of the book, the expression...wonderful. The one thing that I would change is the eyepiece - I feel as if it's a little -too- much and doesn't feel like it really gels with the rest of the shot. Still, you remain a butler I would -not- want to run into!" Score:
Jinx Fireboot
Judge A: "I really like the background of this shot. The colors and the light coming in through the window give off a nice effect. If you look long enough you can see an angel looking over Jinx from the light in that window. My only real issue is that I wish I could see your face better in this shot. The glow from your staff is too bright and distracting, making it really difficult to see your expression here. I think if you had zoomed in closer and hidden your staff it would have improved this shot ten-fold. " Score: 1
Judge B: "This one was on the border, to be honest, but overall I think your choice in background and staff effect really sold me. Your outfit was also a good choice. I just don't get a great shot of your face which is lacking. Still, I love the significance the height of the room played in this shot and, overall, your commitment with the scared/creepy pose!" Score: 2
Judge C: "This is a very nice scenic shot but it feels very unbalanced to me. The background is excellent but you're swallowed up in it. It's also quite difficult to see your face due to dark outfit, dark makeup and dark skintone all combined together. Had a different outfit been used and positioned so you took up more of the shot, this could have been a real contender!" Score: 1
Marik Destiel
Judge A: "You really put some thought into this shot and I like your concept. Your location on the stairs with the stained glass windows works and I love the three robed acolytes around you as you summon some truly evil power. I do wish there was some more light on your face so we can see your expression/face better but other than that this could be right out of a horror movie script. Good job!" Score: 2
Judge B: "I love the window shot and I LOVE the commitment with the extras in the shot. I definitely see some sort of story...although the specifics are escaping me. I think your expression is a bit confusing. Are they summoning you or sacrificing you? Regardless, I enjoy the shot for sure. " Score: 2
Judge C: "Oh, now this is how you use extras in a shot! Your confused expression really sells the shot and you chose your location wonderfully. It's unfortunate that you had no way to hide your staff and get that same pose - perhaps a smaller wand would have helped there? It doesn't detract enough to stop me awarding top marks though! I'm particularly impressed with how you positioned one extra front and center without stealing attention from you." Score: 3

Adeline Urusa
Judge A: "Interesting lighting and the fact that it’s a battle shot, but I’m not feeling the theme of the round with this scene." Score: 1
Judge B: "oooo fancy effects. I like! I also like your dynamic pose. Your hair and clothing look pretty badass. Nice job. I like that you got a succubus in there. I only find the bow position a bit strange, looks kinda like you just threw off a shot without looking." Score: 2
Judge C: "I LOVE this hairstyle on you! From this angle it looks amazing! Look at that face! Great effects at work here. If you squint, it looks like you and the demon are doing disco! Haha." Score: 2
Judge D: "While I like the concept here it feels a little top-heavy with all that spellcasting going on. However the angle is very interesting and you really -pop- against the background! Had it been angled a tiny bit higher to reduce the empty space at the bottom it would have been wonderful!" Score: 2
Eirwen Mackenzie
Judge A: "Loving the use of the raid marker effect. The facial expression, pose, and hair motion are awesome. I can feel your character’s fear!" Score: 2
Judge B: "Wow I really like this! Did you use a raid marker? Looks a bit like you did, but it was a fantastic idea. It totally makes that statue look spectral. FLEE FROM TEH GHOST!!! Your expression is great for the set up. Nicely done. I like that you haven't ruined the gloom with the sun minion. " Score: 3
Judge C: "This is wonderful. I love that you are summoning a demon, and it’s causing pain and scaring the bajeezus out of you AND me! Great work with that make up too!" Score: 2
Judge D: "I like the angle here - the use of effects prevents the lack of backdrop at the top detracting from the image as a whole. Your expression really sells it too!" Score: 2
Iris Dawnshade
Judge A: "Love the facial expression! However, the overall picture is a tad too brown and could use a whole lot more contrast." Score: 1
Judge B: "Awww poor Iris! Look like you have been through a rough time. (Dirt make up?) Run away! I'd only like it more if you were slightly more to the right of the image. I also don't really get the outfit, given the dirt make up I'd expect more an innocent gear choice." Score: 2
Judge C: "Ahhh!! What is it?! Jeezus! It’s a…It’s a..It’s a Lalafel wearing my least favorite gear in the game! Oh, and a cute little troll behind you! This picture is wonderful. That facial expression looks great! The makeup looks like your mascara is running, and that hairstyle even looks a little messy. You’ve been running from that guy for a while, huh?" Score: 2
Judge D: "This shot to me shows amazing improvement. You did a somewhat similar shot early in the concept for your Grand Company shot and the feedback given there is clearly on display. The motion is captured very well too! My only gripe is that there's a little too much unused space on the right. Still, overall a wonderful shot!" Score: 3
Kaiyoko Star
Judge A: "No one can save you! I laughed out loud at the sight of your character screaming. Aside from that, I love the perspective down the corridor and the beautiful lamps." Score: 3
Judge B: "NUUUU don't let the floating eye petrify youuuuuuu~ Nice pic. I like your position, your expression is great. I like the depth of the hall in the background. I only wish maybe the Ahriman was slightly lower so it wasn't cut off. We had to give one 1 score this week and sadly the cut out extra made me hand it to you." Score: 1
Judge C: "Don’t look him in the eye! Due to the statues behind you, I am thinking the concept is he will turn you to stone if you look at him? You’re gonna be the prettiest statue in all of Eorzea! The background and the angle are not the best. If you had maybe angled it down the hall diagonally to give it some nice depth, I think this picture would have been great." Score: 1
Judge D: "Excellent use of depth here! I love how you captured the hallway behind you extending out. Unfortunately the key point of the shot - the ahriman - is all but lost in getting that angle. I feel as if shifting the view up would have maintained the view of the hallway while avoiding cutting off so much of that voidsent. As it is, losing so much of him takes a lot away from an otherwise excellent effort." Score: 1
Rhaya Relenah
Judge A: "Now this is a creepy picture! Your glamour as a denizen of the manor combined with the Miasma effect really gives off the creepy vibe. I can imagine you just haunting the halls of Haukke with your scary minions" Score: 2
Judge B: "oooo this is interesting. The spell effects are nice and gloomy. That enemy totally looks like your thrall. Nice choice using a black book too, suits the demony summon feel. It's a shame the mobs face looks a bit rubbish texture wise and stuff but that is hardly your fault! :3 Nice work. " Score: 2
Judge C: "Oh Rhaya, this is superb! The woman from hell is spawning her demon lover from hell! Haha. I love the use of effects. I love the burning floor beneath the demon. I love the Gorgoyle statue on the left. It’s great." Score: 3
Judge D: "Once again you demonstrate wonderful use of effects in your shots! I love how creepy that spell looks around you as you summon the Taur! I like that you teamed up with a bard to get a summoning ring of fire around you too! Sadly the mob's positioning has put his head in clear view while his body is obscured, leading to an odd effect. He's also clearly a primadonna, looking straight at the camera like that!" Score: 2
Sakuraya Kai
Judge A: "The vibrant colors of this picture are amazing. Is the succubus your true form or a minion you’re summoning?" Score: 2
Judge B: "Niiiice, you totally look like a part of the Manor. Angry lady lol. Nice use of the new wedding dress. The pink lighting adds a nice touch of colour and contrasts your blacks/blues nicely. Very nice pic. " Score: 3
Judge C: "Don’t…make…me…angry!!! You’ve got a demon living inside you. We all do, but your’s is a bit more literal. I love the colors here. Once I realized what the theme was, I wondered if we would get a haunted bride picture and the last one of the group did not disappoint! It’s a little boring, but great colors, creepy background, and a hilarious concept saved you from a low score. " Score: 2
Judge D: "This is one of my favourite shots of the round by far. You balanced it nicely, with expression and outfit coming together in a way that really stands out against the background. I love how you managed to position the succubus so that she looks as if you just summoned her and are about to sic her on the pathetic mortals who just trespassed in your domain! Strong story, excellent execution." Score: 3

And in a strange twist we had a multiple-ways tie for S-Rank voting from the judges between Adam, Iris and Marik! As a result I have flexed my host powers (and considered that he got straight 3s from all the judges who voted) and award it to Adam Flyrmyn! BE CAREFUL ADAM. The last two weeks our S-Rank nominee got eliminated the next week...spooooooky curse of the S-Rank shot...
