One of the many reasons achievement systems are terrible.
I really hope that they do this and give us new things for events each year instead of just reusing the same events every year after the first like they did in FFXI.

The first event the Rift team gave to their players was a lag-feast, the servers couldn't hold all the players, some of the bosses death were bugged, quite a part of the playerbase couldn't participate due to level requirements, and the reward was nearly nothing.
Yet it was more fun than everything FF14 has yet to give.
Yet I certainly don't want the FF14 team to invest anymore dev power in events, when they still nearly have a whole game to make.
The only reason why i posted on this forum in the first place is to take up for the people that you were insulting and they backed me up. I'm not about to be called a troll when you are the ONLY one on this thread who has thrown insult's. you just mad because you know im right. i called you out and Didn't let you get away with it.I didnt let you get away with it cause you called me a troll. you clearly know im right because you deleted your insult's AND imma keep coming back calling you out everytime you try to make me look bad cause i was only correcting YOUR bad behavior.
go on call me a troll.
a troll usually doesnt take up for his peers and defend the game in question, rather hate on it and others....like you did earlier in this post and are doing to me now. Type as eloquently as you like i still dont buy your bull.
Its fair that you desire more from these events, and hoping to have an intelligent discussion with your fellow peers about it is an admirable thing. I too would like to see such a discussion.
What I don't like is seeing someone attempting to have a discussion of this brand, start insulting people who take up other views, then edit those posts making it look like the other guys were in the wrong.
This is an example that I have found within the posts of other users. Posts like these provoke people. Editing posts like these and acting as if you are in the right and other people are trolling after the fact?Quote:
I honestly can't believe that you guys are so simple minded to like these that which have 0 fun value to anyone possible, matter of opinion or not.
Thats a low blow. If you insult someones way of thinking Dargoth, don't go back and edit it making yourself look like the good guy.
I still find it funny that he is comparing an 8 year old game, to one that is still in heavy re-development and not even a year old.
I picture OP in a Santa suit drinking a bottle of 5-dollar rum as he types his idea.
I feel like the latest event is a step the right direction as opposed to previous events in XIV but I would like more depth in future events. I fully understand that they may be working on more important aspects of the game (hopefully) and expect many of these events to hopefully be better in the future.
Calling Boo a troll is hilarious. He's like the nicest guy I've ever met in 14 lol. To everyone, he's the guy on the boat that waves to random people and says hi. To think that after that he logs onto the forums and trolls topics to agitate people is somewhat amusing. Now from what I've seen of this Dargoth guy, that's exactly what he does.
The event is definitely well lacking in content. But that's to be expected, the whole game is lacking in content.
Devs are working hard to solve that problem and I prefer them to concentrate on 1.19 than on an event people won't care about in 2 weeks.
I've played WoW since Vanilla til recently. The holiday vents are really no better. Maybe the added achievements added another dimension..but really it is all fluff for fun no matter what.
WoW offers boss fights that ARE NOT challenging in any way - they're ridiculously easy at this point and now that you use dungeon finder there is no sense of accomplishment or community when doing it. You warp in, quickly kill some mediocre boss with random people, get your loot sack and warp out. How is that better than the swimsuit event? I'm not saying FF's events are terribly amazing, but I like them well enough.
WoW events also offer more items - purples of no value! WooOOOO. You also fight the same boss year after year for the most part. So not impressive if you ask me. Really it's nice any game has holiday events for added fun and whimsical items, not sure why anyone would compare WoW to anything event wise. WoW's events are so repetitive, just like most others.
WoW events are all right, but achievements ruined them for me since they always have some PvP or raid you have to do to get them all, and I think seasonal events shouldn't be exclusionary. And that's how XIV events have been. I think they should aim for events that are possible for a brand new player to complete, instead of events that are a boring cakewalk for rank 50 players and impossible for rank 1 players to do on their own.
