So again, what's that about Behest locking out people? It's available for
FOREVER
You would expect people to wait patiently 18 days for a chance to get in an event because they get locked out? Players log in, they are not to be locked out, for whatever reason. Unless maintenance.
I still don't see the point of your complaint. You say the event is fun, so you must have had fun doing it. Following that logic, the leechers there didn't have fun because they were leeching, so at the end of the day they missed out on the fun. Seems to me you have therefore no reason to complain. Anyway why exactly do you care? They got their swimsuits, you got yours and you had your fun. Again, what's the big deal? It's not like they made it impossible for you to do your own thing...
They didn't hurt anything in the game play/enjoyment ways.
But i've seen a few of them were also selling the ash at a the quest npc.
In that respect they are hurting other players by profiting from doing nothing other then just having a macro looping and standing at the npc. (hmm... that's almost like RTM/botting :p )
**The ones just not running the bomb are just meh.
I still don't think they should get something for nothing but, they just a little annoying imo, i've more the issue with people selling the ash.
Simple solution is ash/fire works is bop, or make the ash require participation in some event.
I'm really getting frustrated with this event. It seems unless you're a level 50 its impossible to obtain all of the swimsuits. The bomb run in Coerthas is littered with rank 30+ mobs, with level 35 enemies attacking him. To even get there, I have to dodge the aggro of level 54+ mobs (Raptors, Boars etc), and if I die (which I undoubtedly will) the nearest spawn point is a spot on the map which is surrounded by yet more raptors.
/end rant
Seriously though, can't SE make an event which more people can actually complete? I get that a lot of people have their rank 50's by now, but thats no excuse for making an event which can't be completed at every level.
The event will happen again next year.
You can complete the parts your able to, that or get people from your LS to help you.
R50's just happen to be able to solo the event, its a world event, a group thing really, not solo.
Its content, not R20 content but just content for all ranks if the right situation.
I get your frustration but if it was doable solo at R1, they might as well just give you it and not bother making any event of it.
Sorry, but thats junk. They've had many MANY events across FFXI which were completely accessible to all levels. And no, they weren't just 'given' you had to work for them too! Just because an event can be done by rank 1, doesn't mean it has to be quick or easy. There are countless ways to keep things interesting without requiring a trek through rank 60 mobs!
Yes, because the population is SO huge right now that every mob in the vicinity is long since dead. Those wolves are rank 25-30 on their own, and they aggro. They're also blocking the route to Owls Nest, so you can't help but annoy at least one of them. Well, guess what? I'm rank 22, and being completely flattened by them. Also, my class is a mage which has a really horrible VIT-HP ratio. Three guesses how long it takes to be killed?
The bomb is constantly assailed by fire elementals at rank 35 which can nail me in two shots. Yes, of course I should be able to complete this quest, how silly of me.
I'm guessing you've got a rank 50 under your belt, or I'm pretty sure your attitude would be different. Yes, fine have quests or missions you can't solo. Thats normal, and expected of an MMO. Event quests though? Nope. They're time limited events which should encourage as many people to participate as possible. This isn't it.
I can scarcely name any MMO which doesn't make their event quests fully accessible across all levels, so why should FFXIV be any different?
There's a difference between 'playing with others' and 'leeching ashes'. I could happily plant myself in Owl's Nest and just pick up ashes while other people do the dirty work, but that's hardly getting into the spirit of things, is it?
The wolves can be avoided. The only thing that *might* be an issue are the R25 Footpads in the tunnel but as long as you don't stop to fight them and keep running, at R22 you can out run them w/o dying.
Also, you need to work on your use of quotes. I didn't post the second thing you quoted.
I do wish the NPCs would give better information. Notifying players that they should seek assistance from other players might be a good idea, or label the quests as requiring certain ranks in disciples of war/magic as leve quests do. My highest ranks are in disciple of the land, how am I supposed to contribute to getting the bombard to it's destination?
I believe that players do need to be made aware of what they are getting into. These events are not a stroll in the park, they take place in areas with aggressive mobs and the bombards need to be defended. I think the journal should indicate fighting is required. What would happen if eight disciples of the hand showed up to escort the bombard?
@Lemuria: SE has for most of the FFXIV holidays had parts that are tiered, some are accessible at lower ranks and some at higher ranks. I was disappointed I couldn't get all the egg helms but I realize I haven't leveled much, and having some items only attainable by high ranks is a way to encourage players to level.
BUT that's the point I am getting at. Rewarding them for nothing.
They are making a profit from doing NOTHING. That's the point I'm getting at. I don't care that they are selling them really, but if you are selling them, it'd be nice to know that you actually worked for them ashes. It's just a the knoweledge so and so is selling blue ash for 60k in the market wards for doing nothing.
I can complain all I damn well want to, all I'm asking is for Square to make it accessible to everyone, but not rewards everyone for doing nothing.
Something for SE to consider for next year. As it seems most everyone has their swimwear now, the number of people running the event has dwindled. I'm coming into this event late, as opposed to launch day. I've found myself now the only person at a hamlet running the event, and the problem exists that I have no DoW/DoM jobs. So, what ends up happening is the bomb is killed before it ever makes it to the furnace. You may wish to consider, somehow, that wrist flick incompacitates the monsters attacking the bomb, otherwise, there is no chance for me to aquire ash when at a hamlet by myself.
I should note this on my alt on another server who is only a 20 Fisher. On my main, this was of course no issue.
I am about to make a new thread addressing this in a different aspect. I leech and I don't care because the event is the most horrible and boring event I have ever witnessed in a game. I find it to be a complete waste of time, even for you guys running out and doing the dumb bomb escort.
Yay! Now that the bikinis are officially in the game, I can shamelessly flaunt myself in my sig! :D
Well, I loved this event. I thought the reward was rather unique and the decorations festive and uplifting. I also like that you didn't need to form a party to work together. It made interacting with other participants so easy!
I obtained all the suits for both of my characters and while I lured and fought every time with my main, I will admit that I leeched a few times on my lower rank alt.
I want to see more events like this!
This is understandable, but we still have like 2 weeks or so left of this event. You are a rank 22 CON, and it shouldn't be too difficult or too long to rank up to at least 30, so that you will have an easier time escorting the bomb. However, if I was on the same server as you, I'd gladly help.
Frankly, I wish they would devote whatever resources went into this summer event (which I have not participated in nor plan to) into other areas like linkshell management, job balancing, server re-engineering, transportation, world redesign, and so forth.
Are you seriously saying this? You do know that they have different teams inside of the whole XIV team that works on different things? They've been working on what ALL you've said, so maybe you should just search the forums for their responses because they've responded to everything you've stated.
And if you haven't particapted in the event, why are you here going off topic about it?
Well, you know. They finally made an entertaining event, one reminiscent of XI's. Of course someone is bound to complain..
I bet if this, without question, became the best MMO with seemingly infinite content, there would be people saying things like "SE really needs to tone it down and focus on [my specific wants/needs]; Game is too overwhelming; Please simply [insert thing here], etc."
Resources in any corporation are finite. To produce this event means less resources devoted to improving critical issues within the game. Whether you agree with me or not, the player base by an overwhelming majority agrees that the areas I mentioned are pain points and need as much attention as possible. Producing events, whether you believe it or not, is taking away resources that could be better utilized in other areas.
Enterprise Project Management 101 - Use finite resources to achieve the greatest value for the least cost. There are many more significant value add opportunities within this game than summer events, and that is a indisputable fact. You can be a lemming and cheer this poor allocation of resources until Eorzea crumbles, but it doesn't change the fact that these sorts of things are sucking up resources that could be put to better use elsewhere.
I don't need a stupid definition for you to attempt to make a point. Bathing suits were already in the dats from what I've heard and I'm sure this event was planned at release. They might have tweaked it
BUT WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND ABOUT DIFFERENT GROUPS WITHIN THE TEAM FOCUSING ON DIFFERENT THINGS?
Geez people... think about it. You think that the whole team stops and says "WAIT! LET'S ALL WORK ON THIS EVENT AND FORGET THE ACTUAL GAMEPLAY THAT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER"...
Sorry but if you do nothing you deserve nothing. Simple as that.
Nothing we can do but send SE suggestions for next time.
I've sat at the bomb king for 30 minutes /sh for help before the 15 + people who were just sitting by the furnace decided noone was coming so they better help. Bottom feeders.
I thought the whole event was too easy:(
1. Only people who participated by luring/fighting off monsters should get ashes
2. Maybe we shouldn't ALWAYS get ashes, but maybe..like..event food, a fan, whatever. Nice little stuff so we aren't all unhappy about not getting an ash, but at least you won't be done with the whole event in like 1-2 hours.
3. ..stronger monsters appearing?
I don't know, I'm just sad the event is mostly over already, because it was so unbelievably easy to get all the swimwear within an hour.
I know that's how the event is and it won't be changed now (wouldn't make any sense anyway), but I hope they make future events a bit more difficult so they can actually be enjoyed for a few days instead of a few minutes.
Despite me complaining, I liked this event for being creative, fun and..whatever, I liked it :D
Dear Final Fantasy XIV team,
Thank you for creating a lighthearted and fun event that many people I know are still enjoying immensely.
The event activities that bring players together through unstructured teamwork, the swimsuits, the Firefall Faire NPC stands and event areas, the wallpapers, the handheld and aerial fireworks, the large fireworks displays in the skies above the cities, and the festive music are all wonderful! ^^
Sadly, there are some people who are missing out on the purpose of having fun with this event.
While unfortunate, there really isn't anything you can do about it if they want to skip the opportunities for fun that you have provided.
It is their prerogative. And even if you try to make rules and systems to restrict them, they are still likely to seek out and exploit the path of least effort. It is just the nature of some people.
The rest of us must just learn to accept this fact of life and not let it deter us from having our own fun despite them.
Please keep up the good work on providing many varied ways for people to enjoy their time in Eorzea.
