Spy/Stealth missions. The Garlean empire becomes an accessable area with mobs that are insanely high levels, too high even for a full party. You have to sneak past multiple mobs, sometimes having to have someone sacrifice themselves to distract them perhaps, in order to reach enemy territory encampments and steal things from them and then return (these areas, of course, would be outside of Aetheryte range). Typically only about four of a team of eight would make it back alive as all others would have had to cause distractions and diiiiiiieeeeeeee.
NM you can only fight by having a high rank DoL to harvest the exclusive item needed to pop it.
Endgame Rare/EX gear for DoL and DoH.
I like the idea of besieged, but with how busy Uld'ah is and empty everything else is... What might need to be done to lead to a good set up is make Hamlets more accessible (closer to the roads, have more important STUFF, don't care what but make it so we want to be split between there and towns. Maybe even balance the server load a bit!) and then have it so Hamlets come under siege.
We kind of see this already with Garlean 'assaults', even if it is just a bunch of NPCs spawning and then hanging out around some Oilbugs or Coblyns until we come to kill them.
I wasn't around much long after the third FFXI expansion so I must have missed out on Nyzul, but it seems similar to the principle behind Disgaea's item dungeons and that old PS1 Monster Tower game. I absolutely LOVED the idea of endless dungeons, bosses and puzzles. I'd be down for this.

A special quest- one that unlocks the Job called Wizard, cause this game needs one!
What could be more extreme than a Wizard riding into a battle on a chocobo wearing a swimsuit casting powerful spells that are actually effective against a rabid army of dodos that are trying to take over the world by growing in size and in numbers? (lol just gave me an idea for a new signature when chocobos are out).
Besieged on a new way. Make us defend the camps... want to do Leves in Horizon? you have to defend it every 2hrs or so.
Other than that, open up the Garlean empire and make it so we can be their allies, meaning leaving my home town and actually participating in attacking it in the future ;P
Varying ranks of campaign style events for the solo players. Improved search and invite system. Awesome looking gear, rewarding nm/boss fights, and less swimsuits /pose.
any and all of ffxi's endgames were great, stuff like that with this games features would be great, hnm's maybe with low drop rates but they pop quick like the nm's we have now, all the mobs in area of it maybe can be farmed for items that help improve drop rate.
any and all full linkshell events in ffxi, missions like in ffxi, i want my cop type quests, nothing easy and solo like we have now (this is soo hugely important, factor of stay or leave = missions)
besiege and campaign battle type stuff would be great, side quests that acually have mini bosses in them. big huge battles from the past wars threw our powers(maybe dynamisis like)
some form of pvp, also some for of scenario or battle grounds, doesn't have to be pvp format, pve or pvpve type that we can click to join and auto group ...enjoy for 20mins and come right back out of it to go back to doing whatever.
more dynamic mobs in general, i want to dispell mobs again, want to unparalyze, and slow more often, even in grinding. all mobs and bosses need to have more of this.
More random world events would be nice. We kind of see this already with the Garlean 'invasions' of camps.
Maybe more like this where monsters aren't 'claimed', you still get SP if the event is a success and you helped (maybe more based on you doing things than just fighting). For high levels in the end game this might reward tokens or crystals, (maybe ammo for the archers/musketeers/corsairs etc. as an optional reward?)
yes to more random stuff, but no to the lenght in time b4 they happen though, i not even seen this invasion, i hear it don't happen very often and i was never willing to go look an sit around and wait for it. campaign battle like zones where the outcomes of the battles will change what happens on the next campaign battle, whitch campaign battle will be next, what rewards, what npc's and all that stuff would be awsome. (basically gw2) lol .
This game could do with public battlefield events like Walk of Echoes from 11. This may help people without active LS's find some players/new friends and lessen the LS-only events. It would also be handy if these battlefields were easier to get to. I much prefer paying gil to warp over to a zone than using anima x.x
I'd also like a twist on endgame. In 11 it was the case that endgame was just for the players. Do the NPCs have no stake or interest in the endgame? Lets use Sky as an example. If Sky was in 14, i'd like instead of competing with other players, why not compete with Garleans who are trying to farm mobs to pop an NM? or come across Garleans fighting Kirin. Why not allow us to killsteal from them or nuke their healer and watch them wipe lol. This could also be implemented as random dynamic world and wildlife events. Wouldn't it be more fun to come across a party of pirates or garleans XP'ing on mobs rather than coming across them just standing there as static spawns. Basically, turn the table around, let the players be the aggressive mobs lol. Turning the table around again, there should be random chances for parties of Garleans to spawn on your own party when fighting NMs or grinding.
Also voting for more Besieged/Campaign type events. I'd like the events to play out more like a War than an isolated Battle though. I was never fond of Campaign Battle being in just one spot really. Why not add checkpoints or something throughout the zone to keep people moving or to add objectives that change during the battle, e.g. kill all/defend npc/make it to x without dying/kill mob before it gets to x/ close city gate /open city gate/ plant bomb lol / repair gate / etc. (basically merge all the different types of Campaign Ops with Campaign Battle so there are tons of objectives and every class can contribute somewhat).
Also voting for Dynamis-3nations. Without the silly hourglass/reservation system, make it a smaller instance like dynamis-cop or make it somewhat public like Walk of Echoes. The best thing about dynamis was the strategy, it wasnt chaoatic like Besieged. That needs to be emphasised.
Something similar to dynamis. I really enjoyed dynamis in XI, and was hoping the new raids would be similar. Alas they were not and kinda really bore me.
Ultimate weapons that you have to slowly build up towards. However, I'd like to see these the means of obtaining them available to everyone whom has enough dedication to do so. I don't want it limited to only the richest of the richest, or the top member of the top linkshell of the game. Ultimate weapon should be something rewarded to those really dedicated to their class, and not just another prize to toss on the pile of someone with friends in high places. I don't really want to see it something tied to exceptionally rare occurrences and difficult NM's again either.
Course series of quests that are a little more theatrical and follow an overlaying story. Yoshi already mentioned he was working toward this.
And lastly, merit point system to make a comeback. I thought it was a pretty good idea to keep people playing whom already completed leveling up their character.
