What kind of a Gamer are you?

I forgot to put my own list there!

Personally, I am totally a Story-liner and somewhat adventurer as well I just absolutely love all games that have a well thought out plot, interesting characters and character development. I also immediately move on after Ive finished the game except if there's a secret ending. In fact, I'll just head on to youtube and go check out all the extras and secret endings if the reqs are too high.

Also, being a story-liner, I gladly sink my RPG hungry teeth into any good looking RPG. By good-looking I don't mean just graphics but all the above mentioned things as well.

I also enjoy romance. If a game has romance Im bought XD, though harem stuff like visual novels, only when they're really worthwhile. I also think romance makes the story more interesting and human/real.

Of course, graphics do play an important part in choosing whether I like or want to play a certain game or not though it is not always the case.

I was a hardcore gamer back then. Play all-day long, get everything as much possible. But since I grew older, work and responsibilities came along... I became a casual... sucks right

Maybe I'm more into Vintage or older gamer with majority of story-liner since adventure genre are my main. I like back then where you can still have your imagination runs wild. I guess 80-90's are the era of golden gaming for me.

Realism in current streamline games left little to imagine anymore. ^^;

Id say a combination of the star and hardcore gamer

I am hardcore gamer/adventurer, I do a lot of grinding and eventually I question why I grind so much and for what? So sometimes I relax and stop to smell the flowers then after that I get bored and get back to collecting things.

The Romance Gamer
Loves playing romance games like visual novels or dating sims. Can also apply to those who don't play such games. Gamers who like having some romance in the games they play as much as possible also fit into this category. Romance especially between the main characters of the game is what these gamers like.

I don't quickly become bored though. I also hate PVP.

Older gamer with no preference to pc. I prefer plug and play nature of console

I guess I'm a combination of a Classic/Hardcore gamer. My first console was an Atari 5200 as a tot and I've always got whatever was new within a month of release. I think the two categories go hand in hand. Cartridges were still around $50 in the late '80's so you generally "min-max'd" everything to get the most out of your purchase.

On a side note... Dark/Demon Souls is like a love-letter to this kind of gamer.

I don't know what to classify myself as. Hardcore casual? ROFL.

I am online 8 hours a day or more doing pretty much nothing that has anything to do with missions, quests or raiding.

I gather, maybe craft. Color and raise chocobos. Send out retainers for trips. Look at houses. Hope to buy a house. Talk to people.

Mostly classic, adventurer, and story-liner, with a little bits of casual, action, the star, and romance.

I think it depends on the genre of games, rly. I always look for games with a story and a vast world that I can explore and I'm not that old, but I started gaming with Mario on the super nintendo when I was little, then went to Pokemon, Chrono Trigger, etc. I actually like both retro and realistic, but, for me, there's a beauty to retro that you can't really replicate with 3D. I tend to get casual with games I've already finished the story on or mmo's that I already reached endgame (nothing much to do 'cept wait for the expansion or an event). Action, because, well...*points to her KH and Zelda collection*. Er, only the star for the achievements, rly, I tend to be a soloist in mmo's if I can help it. Yes, I am a romantic. I'm not to ashamed to admit that. :P

Btw, I think completionist should be a separate type. I've seen ppl go far out of their way to get everything.

I never touched the one for DS and as for the PSP suikoden I always wanted to test it but looked like a legend of legaia game.

Suikoden tactics I will end up buying it eventually but man i wish suikoden stayed 2D like the first 2 without the 3D added into it.

Classic / true gamer, with no direct interest to play retro games. Prefer to keep the feelings of nostalgia in place for those :p.

The DS Suikoden wasn't bad, I must say, though it was my first suikoden so that may be why, but yeah I too wanna check out the unlocalized PSP version. I fear that this is gonna be just like Valkyria Chronicles 3's unlocalized status. At least that has a fan-translation tho :P

Adventurer with a bit of the Role-Player (but only where there's a world large enough and progression paths different enough to actually notice changes between alts, if I were to level them).

I'd say I'm a cross between an Old school gamer (moreso due to age and growing up on the Atari/NES/SNES/Genesis/PSI-II, etc) and role player.
Except I don't really learn toward the retro games.... JRPGs are the only thing I lean towards, but I do get old-game-nostalgia if someone mentions it or has the name of an older game character.
Aaannndd a little bit of adventurer - I always want to try new content to challenge myself and see how things progress (just not... things like FCOB....) but I don't immediately jump ship once I run out of new content.

o_O Hard to pick just one. People are too complex to fall under one category.

Suikoden <3 *Salutes the bear...lion.... flag...... thing* Viktor and Flik need to make a comeback. They were the best, in my opinion.
There was a Suikoden FB group selling the Jowston Alliance and Highlands crest on tshirts for a while (they were funding a gathering). Hated Luca Blight (and he wouldn't freaking die.) and not a fan of the Highlands, but got both for the feels.
Need Merc hideout shirt. xD

The only Suikoden I couldn't stand was IV..... a.) couldn't help but laugh at the main character's "I really need to pee" general run animation (got old, though), b.) I've literally fallen asleep with the controller in my hands during long travels via boat. c.) Snowe. Period.
Didn't see what was the huge deal about Suiko III, though but I can't say it was bad, either.
Tierkreis I felt was a good return to the older two Suikodens after straying so long...
I wouldn't mind seeing the SuikoGaidens localized - even if they were technically just sort of playable graphic novels. Took place during Suiko II, following Nash - whom being in the background of the goings on... so it sort of fleshed out the background of II's storyline a little... (as if it needed it)

Remember playing Oregon Trail, Turtle Draw, and other eary pc sofware.
Remember the industry crash.
Remember getting first computer in the home. Apple IIc.
Remember Nintendo coming to the rescue.
Remember the crazy Sega/Nintendo wars.
Remember selling my entire comic collection to the campus comic shop to purchase a Playstation 1.
Remember college roomie and I linking pc's to play Doom, Quake, and Warcraft all night.

And on....and on...god I'm old.

I'm actually a bit completionist, so I can't really stand games that takes too long to finish like Suikoden. A friend of mine finished getting everything in more than 2 months for the 1st Suikoden. That's also like cap-levelling every 128 heroes in there. ^^;

That's also why I never a big fan of Sim game series. ^^;

Classic gamer. Although, i haven't done an allnighter since going after my RSE in FFXI and maybe a night or two in Vanilla WoW.

I love Chrono Trigger. Chrono Cross was also really good. We need more games like that and thus i was sad to see the TP chains removed from FFXIV.

I'd say I'm classic/hardcore. While I prefer the title "classic" over "true," the only criterion I'm not sure I'd meet is the "growing up with the industry" one. The rest sounds like me. And then I'd consider myself hardcore, but that's from my perspective.

While I enjoy exploring, story, and completion, they all take a back seat for game-play.

I'm probably a combination of Adventurer, Story-liner, Romance Gamer, and Role Player. I like getting really immersed and invested in a game's world, story, and characters. Could be why I like FFXIV so much.

according to your demographic i would probably be in Classic/true, though i fit into everything besides old, short attention span, merchant, star, and blood-rager.
though i mostly stick to sci-fi or fantasy settings with RPG or shooter elements, i'll play most things except sports and racing games.

Considering my first Final Fantasy was the First Final Fantasy, I have evolved over my Gaming Life depending on my financial and real life circumstances. I've experienced all spectrums from a Hardcore 18 hours a day player to a 1 hour casual. Now I just consider myself a Veteran Gamer, someone who uses their experience to get most out of whatever they play in the most effective time.

Bumpity bump

Old school gamer. Started with Star Ocean 2 on the PS1 and worked my way up to now on FFXIV: ARR. Avid fan of RPG and more specifically JRPG's but any game that peaked my interest I played.

By definition an old school gamer would be considered hardcore by today standards, given the extreme easing of main stream games to allow for the most accessibility for any generation by comparison. Games like Demon/Dark Souls come as a culture shock for its insane difficulty when in reality these were the "normal" game difficulties of the day. Most of us who grew up around this time developed the three most crucial skill required for any game or real life application: OBSERVE, REACT, MEMORIZE.
