All this complaining and no one's noticed weddings coming in 2.45...

If they had battle versions of the wedding dress and tux I might be more inclined to participate. Here's an example of wedding dress worn buy Ashe and Rasler in FFXII. I feel that they could have done the same since it's adventurers who will be doing the bonding.

I'm excited for this. I've been looking forward to it for quite some time, since the first released images of the wedding chocobo and dress. Now it just needs to hurry up and get here already!

Well, I for one cannot wait for this - it's something I've been wanting for since FFXI (as in, being able to marry another character regardless of gender), meaning my Enki can finally officially marry her beloved Jing (my bf's character, who is also a Sunseeker kittygirl). And yes, I so want that wedding dress! The groom's tux looks really flash too. :D

Alright, I don't think it will be as bad as people think. I reckon it will be a series of quests. You start out with Weathered Bridal Gear and while in a party with your intended you do tasks while wearing the gear at the end of the quest you get Upgraded Bridal Gear. Then while in a party you have to spiritbond to 100% to exchange them for Ultimate Bridal Gear. Only then can you take part in a wedding ceremony

I think complaints are more louder than some feature we already knew about is because for the most part, wedding bring nothing to the game compared to actual gameplay issues that need addressing lol. They even said flat out they could make the system worthwhile by adding "couple skills" but simply didn't think about it until someone at fan fest mentioned it.

From my understanding, the whole idea was for a fun RP event for friends to have and the ring would give in-game spouses a new skill to teleport to the other in a snap.

Getting rid of the ring was all it took to divorce.

I guess developing content that bonds two people together is much easier than trying to get the people on your server to work together instead of "pay me first".

Why do they need an excuse?

The only time I'm going to get married in this game is going to be to myself.

I have 3 alts (amongst others): 1 female hyur, 1 male hyur and 1 male miqo'te. They have RP history, the male hyur was married to the female hyur until she died (I still play her, her time line's just outta sync with theirs, similar to how the in game years get stuck for various quests' lore) and many years later he fell for the male miqo'te. The 2 males are the ones I would like to get married. The dress would honestly suit my boy cat just as much as the tux does (depending on his mood), whereas the male hyur wouldn't ever wear a dress.

Some characters really just have their own personality and it doesn't have to be completely feminine or completely masculine as many people aren't completely one or the other.

If your character's really on the fence, it can be difficult even deciding which gender to make them (if that isn't clear cut in your heart from their first conception) and even after you do make them one of the other, you may wish to dress them up as the other.

Some female characters would not suit a dress at ALL simply because they have a more masculine personality so would be very uncomfortable with anything BUT the guys' tux.

Everyone's different, and that's a good thing ^_^

Personally, I think all clothes should be unisex. Practically speaking, there really isn't any reason for them not to be. It's part of some cultures that skirts worn by men are frowned upon, but in others it's not. FFXIV is still early enough in it's cultural development that these things can still be shaped differently if the players want it.

I think that if robes are valid options for males, so should be dresses. Many are one and the same with just another name.

Oh and just for the record, Crystal here is asexual like me, hence her not getting married.

I am very excited for this, though I do wish that males could wear dresses. :(

Fore men, the vest dyes to match. For ladies there is more lace/whiter lace detail. For the venue, the flowers and arches become more ornate

Hm. I don't really like neither of the design of the tux or dress, that I find both too simple and bland, but damn I sort of want that dress just cause my highlander would look very fab in it.

Also I'm disappointed that it seems there is no emote exclusive to being bonded to someone? Like idk we could use some hand holding or something, but seeing how the /hug one went it might be for the best…

People were saying that the free wedding was going to be very low quality but honestly I think the differences in these pictures are pretty minimal and it'll still be a spectacular event. Sure, the out of wedding extras get cut but the wedding itself looks almost the same and that's the most important thing I think. Mounts and minions are a dime a dozen, having a fancy ceremony with someone you care about is more ... special :3
