Not everything is a ddos attack. And if enough people hammer the authenticate servers trying to get into play then thats essentially the same thing.

I can't imagine there's a huge flood of people trying to log in to the NA/EU datacenters during the late night/early morning hours for those areas though.

this is true, but this is also assuming a DDOS attack against SE servers in NA. Much like i said in an earlier post, i hope they release why these issues are occuring, if they are DDOS, or just poor configuration of servers/connection bandwidth, or just issues with their ISP......doubt they will though, since all SE is good at is burying the truth and information

As far as I know, none of the JP servers have had this issue.

Luckily my FC had finished raiding for the night before all these problems sprung up again.

If these are indeed ddos attacks, SE should be upfront about it and let us know. Because otherwise it seems like this is their fault for poor server stability. And if its not a ddos attack, they should still let us know and get straight to work on fixing it.

Oh silly me. And there I was thinking I could play some FFXIV tonight.

It's not the servers this time. I use a VPN to connect to the game and I have stayed connected throughout all of these DCs. I'm still on and playing just fine without any issues.

What I am seeing on my WTFast graph is massive lag spikes accompanied by near 100% packet loss on the internet side, not the server side. Whatever the issue is, it's something occurring on the path to the servers.

Are any of you Server or Internet specialists, engineers, networkers or analysts or are you just grasping at straws, pretending you know what your talking about?

Until SE specifically states the issue and/or finds a fix, I doubt I'll rely on the less-credible information that is being presented in the forums by the average user.

My issue is that it started over 1 hour ago and no official info from SE under maintenance on the main page like they don't even know it's happening.


I work in IT, I'm on call 24/7/365.

But I work so small not mega-millions dollar companies. There should be someone onsite 24/7/365 to deal with issue. Not someone oh shit something happened I need to call someone to fix it.
Even more so after it just happened a few days ago.

VPNs hurt the server by the way. They may not hurt you however. The bots may be DDOS'ing the servers in force now due to the story quest requirement added for unlocking jobs, which I believe was only done so they can track goldseller and account seller bots easier.

That's weird, I use pingzapper which basically does the same thing as WTFast, but I wasn't able to stay logged in at all.

It's funnier because I've been playing on a JP datacenter with absolutely zero issues since my last post but haven't changed my ISP in the last 30 minutes either. =o

Yeah, the JP Data Centers usually have no issues at all when these mass-90ks occur.

Maybe some hacker is getting proactive about the lag issues caused by bad level 3 nodes, and are burning them up for us.
