New Sword shown..

That looks like it took some design cues from XIs Almace (Empyrean sword).

I thought they said we'd be able to make a "custom" appearance for it, not reskin...

Perhaps they will be dyeable like the poetics weapons which would allow some level of customization to the look. This game needs more dyeable weapons/shields.

You... don't know a thing about modeling if you think that is a reskin. That's an entirely new model.

As far as customizing it's 'appearance' I would like to see where exactly this is being quoted from, because I was never under the impression that the appearance is customizable. The stats are.

You MIGHT get some type of custom animation but I can guarantee that you WON'T get a "weapon skill" because those weapons are designed to NEVER be the strongest in game. They are catch-up/filler weapons that at times are good enough to raid with when new content patches roll out.

Why would SE put something special like a new ability on a weapon that is inferior to the best end-game raid weapons.

I said "thought they said" not "they said we could". If it was said, it was probably when the Zodiac line was announced.

I look at the pic, and I can see they might've stripped away the metal on the outside of Curtana and just put on gold wherever they see fit, the job IS from Ul'dah, so you don't expect to see gaudy looking things from the city?
And I was using "reskin" in this manner, REPLACING the exterior

PLD block and parry...this wep is good for parry :)

Wonder how many trash mobs I'm going to have to kill and how often I'm going to have to run underutilized content to get this thing.

Nothing says Excalibur more than a pile of bee corpses.

In the end it will be the the worlds longest grinded out glamor weapon if they stay on the path they are with relics.

Unless you want to look fancy I see no reason to even go through the long process when the current primal weapon/top weapon from previous coil is almost as good as it. The work is not worth the reward. The grind of getting a relic is harder then beating the newest coil.

Most likely the final step of the zodiac weapon.

I dunno about some of you guys but that looks perfectly capable of slashing things, since you know you dont slash people with the lower base of the sword right? Its still got the stabby slashy pointy end which is not covered in gold.

This worries me a ton... The grinds we already get are bad enough, and they consider them perfectly fine. So for them to say 'it takes a long time' unless your a red bull fanatic, probably won't see this sword till its long outdated content. Long journey trials worked out in XI cause gear stayed relevant for a long time; in this game it doesn't take 3-4 months before there is a shiny new item.

You know its going to be something along the lines of turn in 60k solidery for X items once you have enough you upgrade.

All I have to say is thank GOD the base weapon is finally changing and they aren't coating with some other silly, gaudy glow effect.

Here everyone thought the final stage will be pure light like the opening sequence

I see three possibilities

- Obtained after getting The Curtana Unobtainius (along with The Holy Shield Unobtainius).
- Available in cash shop as a glamour item!
- Obtainable only by satisfying the 1000 Provisions of the Holy Sword Excalibur.

It's all speculations! We don't even know for sure if it's a weapon apart of the zodiac braves relics. People are going to tear each other apart till we get some sort of dev post with more information.

The only problem I have with the sword is how wide it is. If a PLD sword is that wide, is the DRK weapon going to be the size of a surf board?

To some people though, having more free time is much harder then going in and beating a raid in 30 mins. For people that have that stuff down on farm..well, yeah, its way easier. Just depends on each persons situation I suppose lol.
