You know how some items are made deyable in future patches? Dungeons loot changes? Enemies are renamed? They can change anything they want.

Is renaming monsters not changing the cultural background? People used to call a monster one thing and the next day they all started calling it another... and with no in-game explanation given too. Did anyone bat an eye? They have changed the lore before. It's not set in stone.Quote:
Changing dungeon drops is absolutely not the same thing as altering the cultural background of the world and you know it.
I'm sorry but I'm 100% against some dude wearing dress in game. I'm 100% against it on real life too, I don't want developers forcing it on me.
in game bonding is something that I can avoid been part of, seen others playing dress up in front of me I can't. Maybe one day my views will change but not at the moment. While i can respect what u want to do on your own space/time, I don't want to be force to be part of it.
I bet you're the type of person who thinks you're being forced to participate in gay marriage in real life when it becomes legal in your state. If it were to be put in the game, nobody's forcing you to put on a dress. If you're so sensitive that you can't even stand to see a male in a dress, then you're just as bad as the people who absolutely demand it because of FEELIIIIIIIINGS.
Wasn't there a guy in a spring dress at fan fest? Everyone kept saying how hilarious it was so I can imagine that is the type of reaction we'd see in game to a dude wearing a dress. I'm all for equality but I just don't see how wearing a dress in a video game is some type of victory to be had.
I'm not even against dudes wearing dresses in game. I'm just fully convinced the OP and his thread is massive trollbait.
I mean where were these dudes when female-only items were being added to the game originally, post 2.1? Suddenly now this topic should be relevant because it has to do with weddings? I mean come on. Dudes should have been asking for male-dresses as soon as they saw Hildibrand wear one in his quests.
I'm going to guess male not being able to wear dresses are going to be such a non-issue with the public they won't even bother with implementation.
Weird, I remember these threads popping up when the spring dress first came out. The issue was because girls could wear the sailor outfit but guys couldn't wear the dress. Might've gotten deleted or locked or both because the debate always ended up blown out of proportion.
Yes, threads like this are made every couple of months. It's nothing more than wanting more glamouring options. I've wanted to wear the spring dress skirt ever since I saw a paladin in the vanity thread with it and it looked absolutely amazing. I know it'd look just as good on my lala (who's already pretty androgynous anyway).
man wearing wedding dress....really ?
I always have problem with detect a lala is a female or a male the time I can detect them are either:
+ wear male or female unique clothes
+ when they do emoticon use voice
+ zoom in
+ sometime the face
is your lalafel a male ?
Yes. Quickest way to differentiate them is by hairstyle. It's what I do.Quote:

SE is quickly learning that for a certain crowd, nothing is ever good enough!
SE just needs to not gender lock clothing items. I've been endless annoyed that I can't wear Lightnings jackets. I mean FFS its the Guardian Corps uniform jacket there is no reason for it to be gender specific!
its never enough is it.
Well I personally like the look of stuff like this.
http://img2.finalfantasyxiv.com/acci...ee47472111.jpg
Looks like a male already as it is. Looks even better with some other armors.
really? *walks away*
Elezen men don't really have the curvature, but they do have the body of fashion model, where length and lithe help portray the look of the clothing itself more than anything.
Lalafell are made to look cute no matter what you put them in.
So...maybe they would pull it off a little better? In a weird way? But that's more of an apples/oranges deal.
In any case, you should ultimately wear what you are most comfortable in.
Working as intended. Please look forward to it.
I definitely believe men should be allowed to wear female clothing, just like how we can wear 'male' clothing like pants and such. Both in-game and real life.
We're the ones that came up with the idea that women can wear skirts and guys can't. It's not some divine law or w/e. I find it to be a silly thing that's only in our heads.
Throwing my two cents in even if this is thread is probably just a big troll.]
People in this thread act as if male characters weren't already able to wear 'dresses', what would one more 'official' change? As a female playing a male, I've come to enjoy to dress him in gear that most people wouldn't dare to use, why? Because I think it looks great and I'm having fun seeing some people reaction. As people have said this is a game. My tank wears a golden thong, and my WHM used to have that Flames mage's skirt. And no one ever gaf.
I don't expect SE to ever change their mind about it, but despite all that I honestly find it unfair that the feminine gent in this game are able to have more great glamour than male. I am able to craft those gear myself and was honestly pissed off that all I could do was to sell them. I don't care if it's a dress or not, give us a more 'proper' male version if you want.
PS; If SE doesn't want to give me a wedding dress, idc, I already have one.
I'm a MtF transgender in a technically lesbian relationship and I absolutely agree with Delorean. You do not need to shove your personal views into every single video game you come across. If it's so offensive that a man can't wear a dress, move on to another game. Or make your own game. Delorean said nothing that was homophobic in any way, but you're painting them as such, and that is just plain stupid. Not everyone that disagrees with you is a bigot. Some of us are just rational people that don't see the need to force issues like this into every aspect of our lives, real or virtual.
Play the damn game instead of trying to make it another hugbox where only your personal views exist.
I agree. I remember a thread about wearing pink to support cancer survivors and people was told "there is no cancer in eorzea" and they said to keep it out of the game. Same goes for this.. if you gay please quit flaunting it in our face. You got what you want please let it be left at that. I am not trying to be rude about this subject but come on guys enough is enough. Look at FFXI I am sure there is same sex couples but they don't say here look at us.. they made rings for each other and moved on. Why can't you?
Sword cuts both ways by the way... same can be said about straight people as well, please don't flaunt your "straightness" in others faces, they've heard enough about it, keep it to yourself, in your real life. Please don't bring your straight sexuality into Eorzea. I'm not trying to be rude or anything.
OT:
I feel it really isn't "gender discrimination" more like an oversight and it probably doesn't look well on the male model in game. Though I personally wish there was more male locked gear, just to keep it even with the female locked gear I suppose. Least we have the south seas talisman over them >:3
He's very obviously referring to the players, and he's right. Anyone who treats this game as some kind of ERP dating service, or somewhere to flaunt their sexuality no matter their orientation, should be smacked upside the head. It's a damn fantasy MMO. Play the game, enjoy the story, and get that loot.
Edit: It should be noted that homosexuality is seen frequently among the NPCs in Eorzea. There doesn't seem to be a taboo against homosexual relationships, but only against marriage. I mentioned this earlier in the thread. Marriage in Eorzea seems to be treated as a business transaction.
Anyway, this thread isn't even about homosexuality. It's about people wanting to crossdress because they do it in real life and therefore absolutely MUST do it in every video game they play so everyone knows just how crossdressy and progressive they are.
Actually, most of the ERPing I've seen going on seemed to be same-sex, for some reason.
In any case, men wearing dresses is just going to weird people out. This game already allows male characters to dress in quite provocative ways, more than I've seen in any other MMORPG I've played - I really don't think they have to be able to wear wedding dresses on top.
Real life nudists don't get to live out their lifestyle in games either, and, as far as mainstream games go at least, never will.
Well, that became aggressive quickly.
As both sides of the argument have been made, I will be closing the thread due to the uncivil tone of the posts within. If this thread should be started again with a civil opener and polite discussion of both sides, it may be allowed to continue. If it should be started again in a manner that begets aggressiveness and conflict, it may be removed with account actions for creating a thread with the intent of making a negative impact on the community.
Any reports already made within the thread will be investigated and handled appropriately.
