Any love for ATMAs?

I've completed 2 Atma weapons, and a Novus.

If you really sit down and get to it, Atma doesn't take as long as you think it does. I completed both weapons in 4-5 days each. Granted I have a lot more free time than the average player. It's just really not that bad. If they brought back Atma for the next step of the relic questline, I wouldn't shed a tear. I'd just go out and do it.

I'm on my second run of Atmas, and I'm enjoying the quests a bit more because..there's more content in the outside world for me to do.

My miner is in the 40's so I like to mine, to create gear for provision quests and challenge log, if I see a fate I'll jump on my white mage and go to it.

Daily hunting marks put me in spots I need atma and I just got Atma of the Lion yesterday trying to take down Ose for a daily.

Got a friend who is new to the game, so we'll go to places I need atma and we'll grind the low level ones while he levels up and I get atma. Or if I'm waiting on duty finder I'll do a FATE or two while waiting..or some nights I know I dont' have time so I take out my Companion and try to get his 100 kills.

So far not atma grinding and do it in between I'm at 7 / 12 atma and the stress is far less than when it first came out..and lets not forget Beastmen dailies, doing those and Fates in those areas help out a lot too. It's now become gradually getting the 12 while I'm getting others done.

Wrong. Atma takes as longs as the RNG wants it to take. Sitting down and getting to it doesn't change anything. It's possible to get it in 12 FATEs or 12,000. It's pure luck. My first set took over 700 FATEs. I don't have the time OR the desire to do that 4 more times (and eventually even more for the other 5 jobs I have that are not level 50). And from what people seems to be saying on the forums, most of the people who have gotten lucky don't mind the system, some who have gotten lucky don't like the system due to them being consideate and caring about the unlucky ones, most of the people who have gotten unlucky hate atma farming, and some still like it, and some don't care.

No matter how you look at it, the lucky are eclipsed by the average+unlucky, and even from an 'average' stand-point I can still argue for atma drop rate to be increased some.

For all those people who are saying Atma is amazing, are you all also the same people who got all 12 in less then a week? who seem to have all the time in the world to grind for hours on end? I have all 9 relics, one of them I got to Atma (WHM), and I have 8 other Zenithed. After doing my WHM Atma I had no desire to do that 8 more times. not when I can get a Sol weapon easier and its already stronger than Atma. The whole Atma system requires no skill, no actual though process, its just mindless griding. Where you hope that you will get one to drop.

And by saying that this is exactly what this game needs, because this is exactly like FF XI. Stop comparing this game to FF XI, its not XI, will never be XI, and if you all love XI so much go back to it. I don't mind working for things, I enjoy that feeling of accomplishment after doing hard work and earning things, but atleast there should be something showing progression.

Can you get atma from farming fates for alexandrite while using an animus weqpon?

The best part about ATMA is that you don't have to do it. Other then that, can't really say anything positive about the ATMA grind experience.

I didn't mind it so much, but that's probably because I was fortunate enough to get all of mine in 9 hours the first day I decided to go after them.

However, I will say it was fun doing FATEs I'd never seen or done before.

I kinda liked it. Just cuz it felt sooo good seeing it pop up when I got one. Also as you say, met some fun people.

there is nothing fair or grindy about atma. i got 2 in 3 weeks, had around a 600 fate streak of nothing, then i got 2 in one day, and havent gotten anything since. it can last forever and take weeks or months to complete, and there is no certainty that it will ever drop. it was horribly implemented. i already have the soldiery weapon for the class im maining right now, so my complaint isnt about the availability of gear, it is about a possible best in slot, if made right, or even just a customizable weapon, that theyve dangled in front of our faces and has made almost imposible to get with the inconsistency and pure rng of atma

assuming you played...say 20 hours a day on the high end, you completed a weapon in 100 hours. meanwhile, other players such as myself, can go 175 hours with NOT EVEN ONE ATMA DROP.
Good for you to get it done, but when poorly done RNG is a factor, its never just "if you really sit down and get to it". its more like "if your one of the players that has better luck"

Personally Atma was my 2nd fave part so far in the relic quest line. I've so far farmed 3 sets of Atmas, I have my SMN Novus, my SCH Atma, and 12 Atmas awaiting for NIN to finally come along (unless it sucks, then just going to make Bravura). I personally enjoyed the Atma farm, it actually made me like some FATES not all, some are just annoying to do. My first set took about 26ish hrs in a matter of 3 days total when the system first came out. My second set took about 46hrs total in about 5 days, and my last set I just farmed up took about 20ish hrs in a total of 6 days. If you consistently farm each and every FATE you can make it too, even if you don't think you'll make it book it to there! Those were the ones I got most my Atmas from, the ones I didn't think I'd get to in time, and just farm farm farm!

Personally I think this system was poorly implemented, but did I enjoy it? Yes. So much easier imho than evil books >< I NEVER wana do that again, of course this was before Hunts so Spamflox nothxkbai. I'm not saying everyone who is stuck on the Atma stage isn't trying their hardest, it is unfair to some people who don't always have RNG in their favor. I hope within reasonable amount of time they alleviate the drop rate, would I be upset if they did? Nope, just means I might go for more Relics. GL to all who still need Atmas!

only found 3 atmas in a 1 week worth of farming fates and gave up and started working on my i110 bow from sold tomes that is easier to do then lame ass atma farming

I've farmed atma while waiting on queue for a few months and still do--- nothing dropped.

Yet when ST was released I got oil and and then UAT the following week. Certainly Atmas are "easy" but the range is discouraging! I can't even join parties or use my chocobo else my queue will be canceled.

I probably won't bother getting relic for my WAR once I hit 50 since I just got leviathan axe a few days ago.
