Ended up with kobold brown, fed it one plum and now i wait to see what i get. Starting to give up on getting black may settle on ink blue if i end up with it again.

It could be the same issue that keeps coming up, we don't know the RGB values. So one or two of the colours could be in the range of Soot Black while one isn't and that's keeping him in a loop. But yeah, it would have to just be a matter of screwing about the range.
Just keep trying, I managed to nudge it to soot black after a few days (6 hrs per try is annoying) of trying.
have a charcoal grey not sure where to go to get ink blue or soot black like ink blue lots... had midnight blue was pretty nice but backfired trying to get to darker got royal blue now charcoal grey.. where should i go now?
Ah well it's a step in the right direction. Unfortunately it would be difficult to predict the exact number needed because of the slight RNG that is assumed to be behind it. From there, I would suggest feeding it a 1:1:1 ratio of darkening foods. Perhaps only 1 or 2 of each since you are quite close.
I'm stuck at gloom purple. Any advice on how to get to soot black from there?
Since I am unsure how you got there, results may vary but here is what I would suggest going off everything I have done so far:

If you go this route, let me know how you get on. :) Best of luck!
Ended up with Deepwood Green lol any suggestions on where to go? valifruit to lighten green? i have tried lighten blue (got kobold brown), lighten red (deepwood green); or should i add darkening fruits?
So I think i might have botched my color cycle fed it two pineapples got color change on second feed, then I gave it one berry with no color color change message hoping to cancel out on of the pineapples. I guess we'll see where i end up in 6 hrs.
The above didn't change the color I didn't get the color change animation despite the feather change message. So I gave it two lighten green got the color change on the second feed.
any suggestions from a regal purple? It seems no matter what I feed it, I no longer get grows new feathers message.
so did as you suggested and feed it 1:1:1 getting 3 feather change messages to have it turn deepwood green which from past posts was said that 1 valfruit would bring to soot black well .... my chocobo is now "Currant Purple" :( ...ya idk...i understand that my colour % is probably off a micro from what i needed for soot black from deep wood green...this is so frustrating ><
6 hours later....
i fed him 1:1:1 again and now i'm Void Blue....i give up...
Update: Feed 4 has finally gone in. Had been waiting for space in FC garden to open up so I could grow some food.
Just got my black chocobo!!!! I whould like to thank bar for making this thread and also helping me out on the last steps. I will share my feeds from Regal Purple and so on:
1. Regal Purple + 5 berries, 2 pears => Gloom Purple (74,62,89)
2. Gloom Purple + 2 berries => Abyssal Blue (43,39,80)
3. Abyssal Blue + 5 apples, 5 pears, 1 berry => Loam Brown (56,45,35)
4. Loam Brown + 1 berry => Grape Purple (52,36,54)
5. Grape Purple + 2 apples, 3 pears, 1 berry => Kobold Brown (42,28,23)
6. Kobold Brown + 1 doman plum => Soot black (37,35,30)
I also wrote the RGB values so you can check how the feeds affects each colour. For the last step i only used only 1 plum whereas other ppl used 2.
Happy Chocobo feeding :D

Hey Barboron, i fed what you suggested + 2 more berries and now I have a midnight blue chocobo. Looks really nice and still debating if keeping it or going for soot black but what would be the next step needed for soot black?
From midnight blue, the exact values that is, 3 pineapples should bring you down to it. But the same issue keeps cropping up for everyone which is, I don't know the feed history so I can't estimate the current values for your chocobo so while 3 pineapples could bring someone fromthe exact Midnight blue RGB values to soot black, your chocobo might be a bit off. Either way, it sounds like you need to bring the blue value down a bit, even if you want to do 1 or 2 pineapples and take it in stages.
Any advice on how to break out of the Kobold Brown -> Ink Blue -> Deepwood Green loop? Currently I am feeding them 1 fruit to change their color to the next one of the loop, when other people have gotten Soot Black from their feedings.
No idea how to break the loop by yourself.
I was also stuck in this loop and only after the 3rd time I saw Deepwood Green my chocobo changed to Soot Black instead of Brown/Blue.
Just continue feeding it to have only one "feather proc" message at a time and you'll may see it go to Soot Black eventually.
So, basically, pray the RNG god.
Just a quick update. I ended up doing another 3 feeds and got my Soot Black chocobo. I will add it to the write up soon enough. I haven't been updating it because I realise there was quite a possible error in my calculation methods.
This is to do with the order of which you feed the colourings to your chocobo and hitting the extremities of the scale (either 0 or 255).
Hey barboron, i fed one pineapple and got grape purple then fed another and got rolanberry red x.x what do I do now? I'm so lost
This might be a bit late, but when you're at Kobold Brown try feeding your Chocobo a plum - you're trying to neutralize the red at that point. Plums will do better than Berries or Pears which might throw you into Ink Blue or Deepwood Green.Quote:

Also, all 3 colors are actually darker than Soot Black - pineapples should help from Ink Blue and valfruit from Deepwood green. Your goal is to lighten and neutralize the strong color. I believe Kolbold Brown has the most reliable path to Soot Black though.
