Opinion on Female Hyur Run Animation?

no idea why people hate necros so much its better to continue an old thread then to create a brand new one about the same exact topic

I don’t hate it. I just think it’s funny. :) I had a reply ready for the OP, but 8 years later they have probably moved on.

It's fine, never payed much mind to it. At least it ain't the Elezen run where they "don't even lift their damn arms" XD

I love the princess run and I'm very jealous and wish that I could run like that with my Femroe.

I literally downloaded a mod to replace my running animation with the Miqo one. It's easily the worst thing about that race.

Feels like catgirls have the most practical and least awkward basic run animation, perhaps followed by either fem Au Ra or midlander males?

Wish we could pick from at least a few choices, though.

I hate fem-middie run and it's a big reason why I fantasia'd off it over a year ago.

I can't hate on the femidlander run too badly. It, along with crash bandicoot m!aura's runs are in that perfect "so bad it's good" category. I can't stop myself from laughing when i see them.

Granted, i would never use either race/gender combination myself. I also will/have made fun of my friend who uses femidlander for this very reason.

It doesn't look good and is probably a remnant of the limited budget they had when they reworked 1.0, not sure if they had the same walking animation back then. If yes then they just didn't bother fixing it.

Elezen female run like they have diarrhea while looking for the next toilet stop.. it's no better lol.

Really doubt the argument that it's the run why it's not popular race. My argument would be it has to do with the faces, many of them look lower quality and the shapes aren't exactly from the good category, skull being too narrow or eyes at bad distance.

I like the run, reason I tried the race years back.

I think of the train chase scene in Me, Myself and Irene.

100% agree and it highlight the fact that it's un ongoing request/issue.

EDIT : i remember there was a MMO with a slider that allow you to change your animation from girly to manly, wish we had that.

It's mostly because a lot of necros are troll threads being dragged up to clog up the front page and annoy people. When it's actually a relevant and peaceful discussion, it's fine, but they're the exception rather than the rule.

At first sight I didn’t like midlanders or their run but then I made one on Gungnir as my Japan alt and I actually really like her.

Sometimes even think maybe I should change my Miqo’te or Au Ra over to hyur to make their numbers a + 1 representative because there are more miqo and aura but I’d miss their cute faces if I did now I got best of 3 worlds by having a Hyur Midlander for Japan main, Miqo’te as my NA main and Au Ra as my EU main and haven’t settled for Oceania (I know am probably past the juicy bonuses now?) but I think I’ll make a male char for them as I don’t have that yet and creating a guy that isn’t part of my retainer team will be nice for a change too.

If you play MNK as female Midlander, going from the run animation to the sprint animation, and then draw your weapons it is literally exactly this!

Indeed. If SE changed this I would be super bummed. There is no need to though. The animation is perfect, and I derive a certain enjoyment that the problem most people have with the princess run is because it is too girly. Midlander females are crazy cute, and the run fits them quite well. Probably not the best choice if avoiding an unimposing, dainty princess. xD

The only run animation I really don't like is male Au Ra. It looks like the timing is off between their leg motions and actual pace of movement, so it's kinda....floaty? I dunno, it just looks off.

Crash Bandicoot's run; is what I'd call their running motion lol.

The female midlander run makes me laugh whenever I see it. It's so silly and overly dainty.

I used to hate the Hyur female run but then I changed to my Midlander and I love her. I will take the run over too many other faults I find with other races now.

I do not like the Au Ra run they are stooped. I tend too sprint a lot anyhow :)

There are faults with most races.

Wouldn't mind if it was a choice, i mean i still want to play an alt as a female hyur but not with this weird running animation. As i see it they should add a new option when you create your character to chose if you want it to have girly set of animation or not.

Are we talking about midlander or thighlander? Cause midlanders run like a lost 12 yo child. But I guess one can get used to that.

I know what you mean here, but the "girly" option is the Midlander female. That is the race you pick if you want a 100% human female and still want her to be really feminine. Highlander females, while they can still be gorgeous, are much more masculine in comparison to Midlanders. Their muscles, robust physiques, idle pose, assertiveness and rambunctiousness in their emotes display, and even their run animation differ so much from their Midlander cousins. If you want a less girly human female avatar, then Highlander is the way to go.

It's not awkward though. This is a perfectly natural way for regular girls to move when they increase their movement speed. It really is ok for a girl to be a girl.

I used to play highlander back in ARR but i never liked there faces tbh (same issue with female roe) when Au ra came up i instantly fantasia to a female Xaela because i thought after reading their lore that they would be more masculine than the Raen .... ended up it wasn't the case but luckily they give us the possibility to almost completly overide the girly standing animation by setting idle timer to 0.

From my point of view midlander just look better than highlander if it weren't for this animation, modder even already done it (replacing female midlander to miqo'te animation) so it's not that difficult.

As for the female midlander identity, i don't agree with you, i mean for me they are women and women aren't always about running like innocent little princess looking cute and frail

Frankly i won't take the risk to mod just to have a midlander alt but it's a shame that something that could be so easily added isn't a thing.

It is subjective that's why this post will only anger most and I am angry. 1st in real life as human evolved tails were dropped ask yourself why? because human reproduce better without them. Men like a tailless females better is why they won out in the evolution contest. I picked Hyur Midlander because of this and the fact that to me they are the best looking models in the game. Yall say we look derpy I say yall look unnatural.

I kind of like their run, though.

Either way, it'd be nice if we could change our run animations.

That gif you posted up above does look a lot like the midlander run, but really that's the run of a person in a mini skirt and heels.....probably not the norm for most of us.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be a "girly" girl, granted that's a whole debate waiting to happen as to what that actually means, but I suppose my slight issue with the run is they are supposed to be the generic character option, and evidently in SE's mind, basic females run like dainty princesses. And dainty princesses, if stories have taught me anything, need to be rescued by someone stronger and more capable.

As far as XIV is concerned, the overwhelming thought for me is "the run isn't my style", but there is definitely a larger issue with games in general in how they portray female characters as a whole.

I love the princess run. I literally switched to female Miqote a few days ago and honestly about to switch back to midlander. I miss the princess run to much.
