I liked my Elezen male but the neck proportions really bothered me so I switched to Miquote. They probably won't be adjusting that ever again so sadly I can never be an Elezen.

Female Elezen are fine in terms of looks, it's the running animation that is really awkward and could be adjusted imo.
I used to hate how elezen looked because of their head size, but I realized making them shorter on the scale was the bulk of the problem. Embracing their height and dialing the scale up to max makes them far less uncanny when around other players. I love playing mine now.
It's purely a matter of taste.
Some people just don't see the beauty of STRENGTH.
I don't want any change done to my race. I am comfortable with and take pride in my Elezen's appearance. Just because other races are more popular doesn't mean mine has something wrong with it.
And in regards to our necks, I'll stick to my conclusion I've had since XI: more sensitive surface area to be kissed. Harder to hide hickies, though!
Sorry but im perfection incarnated.
I'm a boring Hyur, but I don't care. Just means I can use almost any style that fits.
Hmm on Diabolos while it certainly seems like Lalas and Catfolk are everywhere, to be honest I think there's a fair amount of every race. Roe's are probably the ones I don't see as often. I also have a hard time noticing most hyurs, but that's just because they're so normal I don't pay attention to them. :P
I see cats over everything else. I </3 you Internet.

Male Elezen are such huge dorks with how they emote. I also dislike how they run, but I love my sexy Elezen and would never change!
My alt used to be a female Elezen and the way their shoulders slope along with their small heads bugged me. None of the hairstyles are very nice either so I settled on the Lightning hair to cover her billboard forehead. She is now much more content being a male miqo'te.
edit: I'll just leave this here:

I love my Roegadn. Love him so much I made this crappy little song. I love towering over every other player and the feeling of excitement when I finally see another Roegadyn. I was the most rare creature at the beginning of ARR, I was a Male MRD/WAR. The OP is just silly and most likely bored. Only a few comebacks and nothing about what they are saying can/should be taken seriously.
PS: Mage Black is my alt. Zakarn Riskbreaker is my main and Sephre Rosewood is my 1.0 chr.
TBH, I think the reason I love playing my femRoe alt so much is that they are pretty rare compared to female Miqo'tes. Yet I wouldn't use a fantasia to change my Miqo'te to something else, either. Having two characters is the way to go.

credit to my friend Aque, for her fabulous gif~
I think all the races look great, but miqo'te have the best animations. I like how the other races look more but their animations are so derpy
I love my elf, and I think she's pretty dang pretty. :P
I think most people play Lalas or Miqos because they either love nekos (which is common in any Japanese franchise, really) or they want to be cute.
I don't know how you buff the beauty of this though:
http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t...1411_05_39.png
Really, a character is only as pretty as their creator wants them to be. I don't think any of the races need changes or buffing, there are enough options for every race that they can all be appealing.
Personally, I like being rare. Being a femroe is basically like having a claim check for all the commendations in a duty as long as you're not completely awful. Plus, I'm flippin' gorgeous, y'all don't know what you're talking about.
Speaking more seriously, I think SE didn't put as much effort into making the races feel as different as they could have. Appearance is just one piece of what can make a race in an MMO, and they didn't even branch out too much on that: everyone in FFXIV pretty close to human, especially in contrast to races like Sylvari in GW2 or all the stuff WoW has. More importantly than general aesthetics though, I would have loved to see a greater variety in animations between the races. This was something we had even back in FFXI. In combat, the animations were different between the races (can't remember if they varied between genders too) and suited their physical builds. The Elvaan had this "I have better things to be doing than this garbage" grace to their animations while the tarus had animations that were nimble (that backflip during Asuran Fists remains the funniest thing in that game). Contrast to FFXIV where all the races are pretty much the same as far as combat goes. I guess I understand; the graphics of the game probably demand a lot more time from the art department and they were trying to salvage a sinking ship so they didn't have time for that kind of detail. It's still disappointing though.
I see plenty of Hyur actually, and a decent amount of female elezen. Not so much for male elezen, or any sex of Roe, which makes sense. You can get the rugged manliness of male Roe's without the worn out faces with Highlanders, and large female characters will always be an uncommon choice. I think the issue with Roes and Elezen is that they're exotic, but not really in attractive ways. Male Roes just look old, and male Elezen look odd. VERY defined cheekbones, crazy body proportions. The female Elezen look less odd, probably because the feminine qualities of Elezen look much better on women, with those qualities not handled properly for a male character, which just makes them immediately strange to most people. Female Roe look fine, but as I stated, conflict with people's natural idea of what a woman looks like.
But to each their own, this is just my own personal opinions on the races! I HAVE seen male Elezen that don't strike me as odd, though I've yet to see a male Roe I honestly think looks good, their faces always look smushed and puglike to me. I think the females for both races look fine (barring clipping issues for the fem Roes).
I can't wait for the expansion so people can complain about Yugiri's race
I love my fem roeg! D= I also take pride in being the one of the few, the proud, fem roegs of FF XIV!
I see quite a few Elezen, females and males around. Granted, there is room for improvement (the shoulders/ neck can be a bit weird too) but they are a greater number than roegs, especially fem roegs.
That being said....
I've noticed that the bigger you are, the worse the clipping seems. My fem roeg will clip into furniture and gear really badly.
That isn't to say that the smaller races don't have these clipping issues- just that they're less noticeable on smaller races in comparison to the bigger races.
The falt butts on any race but the Lala's are an issue. Much like with the clipping, the smaller the race the less glaring the flat butt looks. =\
Despite these flaws, I certainly wouldn't want SE to delete fem roegs since ultimately, the deciding factor to play as one race over the other is personal preference.
I, for one, was really happy when they added fem roegs into the game!
:/ I very much love my Femme Roe thank you. She is beautiful and strong and built like an amazon just how I like her. She does not need to be changed, and there is nothing wrong with the Elezen or Hyur either. They are beautiful.
I think Femme Miqo'te are hideous, and Lala in general look like derp, but that doesn't mean they need to change, I wouldn't want someone that likes them to have to change. Let the majority play what they want and let the minority play what they want.

No way to buff perfection thank you~
http://img2.finalfantasyxiv.com/acci...1d9d93e60b.jpg true perfection.
See, it's posts like this that should make you question why make topics like this where opinions will vary, exist, what you may hate and tell people "should be deleted" someone loves and adores them. i dislike Miqo'te because i am not a fan of catgirls. and would never make one if my life depended on it, but i'll never tell someone to "go delete that" just because i don't like them.
That's the same as telling people they should ban the foods that you don't like.
Summery: No races need a buff because it's really not possible to buff what does not need fixing. different people have different tastes, the sooner you learn that, OP, the easier your life will be.
Yeah, but it's allllllll the way over theeeeere... You should've taken a closer one.

Honestly Mi'qote are the only well animated (IMO) characters in the game. Its no wonder theyre the most popular. All others are just dont move right. /shrug ... I started Human and actually now moved to Elezen. After you get over their wonky proportions they kinda grow on you. IMO people should try out all the races for a few levels not just jump on the first one that gives you the best first impression. You might surprise yourself.
What your talking about here is genocide, I for one love the bigger ladies, and the fact that they are so rare is also awesome. When I come across a nice RoeChick its always nice.
Lalafells are breeding like mice, which is what is providing the MiQote population a food source from what I hear. You might want to find a Roe to hold you up high so the kitties don't get you!
Wholeheartedly agree. I used up all my 8 slots available on my server to make as many different race/gender combos I could, except Lalas because there aren't enough slots for all race/gender combos, and they're my least favorite. I also did it because I think certain classes look better on certain races and genders.
I'm half excited and half sad to think I'll likely "kill" one of them with a Fantasia when the new race comes! (Or maybe two, if it has two clans or I end up liking both genders too much.)
Right now I have:
Keeper of the Moon M (main, all classes leveled but mainly BLM)
Keeper of the Moon F (to-be gun class)
Wildwood M (WHM)
Midlander F (PLD)
Hellsguard F (DRG)
Duskwight F (BRD)
Midlander M (MNK)
Highlander F (WAR)
The Hellsguard and Duskwight are currently the top candidates in which will turn into one of the new races. Unless they make it really too hideous for me to pick, but I doubt so. I like to play anything new that isn't chubby-chibi-like.

...We are so gonna fight.
I agree, and the races of GW2 are an excellent example to bring up I think. The most apt comparison I heard regarding those was "choosing human is akin to going to a buffet and only eating bread". I also think I read once that FFXIV 1.0 had different animation sets for every race for every class and that's one thing legacy players miss.
Regarding the populations of the races, this site seems to be doing pretty well with itself. 4 million+ characters scanned and counting!: http://xivsoul.com/
I don't know if there's a more complete(and recent) census than this one, but it serves the purpose here pretty well. Here's the breakdown of race rankings(irrespective of clan, it seems):
Hyur: 33.4%
Miqo'te:32.2%
Lalafell: 16.2%
Elezen: 11.3%
Roegadyn: 6.9%
So, yeah, Lalas and Miqo'tes combine together to be almost 50%(48.4), so your assumption there is pretty on the mark... but it's Hyurs that appear to be winning! I just wish that this particular site had clan and gender breakdowns for each individual race.
EDIT: I'm a female Miqo'te, obviously, and originally picked one because of CAT!, the lore, and the silliness around my original starting class of Pugilist leading to "I'm a Miqo'te attacking with my claws!". I might have chosen Lancer for the similar silliness of pretending that Jump is actually Pounce, but I poked stuff in beta so I decided to change it up. I chose female because I don't care whether or not it's an option, male Miqo'tes being playable violates the lore. I've stayed with it this whole time because I really like the fact that their running animation is just a casual jog. No frills, no unnecessary grace, just getting from A to B.
Glorious Miqote Master Race.
Haterz gon' Hate.
I used up all my Fantasias switching between all the races. I loved something about each one but in the end I had to return to Lala because it's kind of in my blood(was a Taru for 9 years on FFXI). Then I liked Hyurs, Miqo(female), Roegs, Elezen, and Male Miqo, in order from most to least. Male Miqos run makes them look like they're limping lol
The races are fine and each one appeals to different people.
I used to be a male hyur then I switched to miqote.
Why? They look human enough, its easy to make a good looking one. But most of all they have cat ears and tails.
For me they are exotic, but not overtly so.
Buffs? How do you fix this gorgeous creature? My Roe is prefect~♡

Oh shi--
I thought she was cute, though, but the lure of the cat boy was too strong. :(

Im a miqote because I could make one that i like the look of. I would much rather be a highlander or roe but I couldnt make one that i liked. i see many awsome looking roe's and Highlanders but they look good cause im not playing them. Im not a very tall nor big irl so it felt awkward playing one.
The player character designs are perhaps half of the reason why I play this game over other MMOs. Reading this thread reminds me of this. All of the races look fantastic.
