With wooden toggles?
I am not sure if that is a knight's tale reference but if it is well played.
Going to go with rust red. Everyone knows red is X3 teh speed!

My teachers enjoyed the fact that I always tried to be different, though at times they did express annoyance at my choices :P
In the 9th grade I did a book report on the Dungeons & Dragons Player Handbook lolz -- I got an A, and was told never to do that again :P
Anyone know what the closest color in the game is to Gold? I might go with that instead of Soot Black for my choco color if I like it enough....and I want my glamours to be golden :P
I think everyone's assuming the dye will be complete but I think it'll follow the examples we've already seen. Some wings and tail feathers may be coloured but I think the bulk of the birds will still be yellow. Take for example the black tipped legacy chocobo or the white tipped dual rider chocobo for recruiters. It seems like that's the extent of the unique colouring: tips only.
If full body feather dying becomes a thing, that'd be great. I just wouldn't hold my breath for it after a couple of examples against that concept.
What color? Hmmm...

Dis one! :D
I probably wont be able to color my chocobo due to its absurd requirements.
If gardening, af coloring and swimsuits are to be taken into consideration, then I expect the dyes will be hard to get/find. It may also require a master class crafter. Probably a lv 10 chocobo.
It may also require an FC to make a "dye salon" and place it in their property :/
With the thought that you probably only dye the tips of the chocobo feathers (even though he have a black chocobo chick that states in it's lore it was dyed..) probably look more for some colors that go well with the yellow. Odds are if i can dye it white i will :P cheap man's version to the recruit a friend hehe
Though this is if.. I can afford to do whatever crazy requirements are needed..
I'm not so sure about that. I should probably look for the specific source where it's said, but I do recall reading somewhere that Yoshi-P stated that chocobos will be able to regrow their feathers in any of the colors currently in game.
Not to mention, if one navigates to the "Companions" list and then to the third tab, the color of the chocobo can be seen as "Yellow Chocobo". Coupled with that interview I read (which I will look around for the source after this post), it seems to imply that we'll be able to make them any hue we'd desire.
Well, from a bit of digging, I can't seem to find the specific interview where Yoshi-P spoke of the dying, but here or a couple of places that mention it as well (just for reference's sake):

Apparently my Chocobo is staying Yellow.
SMH.
Given the item descriptions, it sounds like you're using the fruit as a crude RGB slider that you can only shift one point in one color once every six hours. Sort of interesting they came up with a lore-ish way to do that. I wonder how many steps in each direction there are from min to max.
Figure out what color you want in an image editing program, get the RGB numbers, and wait for people to find out the maximum value in chocobo coloring. You can math out the closest chocobo equivalent to your desired color from there. With the six hour wait, I'll be a bit surprised if there are more than 8 notches to each color, though within reason the more freedom they give here the happier I'll be. Normally these things would operate with an even number for the max, but I'm guessing they might use an odd number to allow for the center-line "neutral" yellow. It's also possible the birds start out at at high or max red and green with 0 blue. We'll just have to wait a bit to play around with it.
Another thing though, now that I think about it, is that even with a decent range they're probably still going to look... hrm, dingy isn't the right word, but you know that sort of mussy darker tinge the feathers have. Also, they've never been particularly willing to let us use saturated/vibrant color in our equipment or hair, so the final result might still be a far cry from what you were aiming for even after calculating the values.
They were planning to implement some features of chocobo raising via choco porters at some point down the line, though they've not specified which features nor when as far as I'm aware.
While I personally think you'll just be calling your bird from your stable (thus still requiring you to be in an FC with a house, if they don't implement stables into personal housing in 2.38 anyhow) to the choco porter for feeding/training, there is a chance they'll actually let you use their stables. Don't give up!
Personally, I think I'd like to see the stables around Bentbranch and Treespeak able to rent out stalls for individual chocobos, much like those who don't have their own stables for horses in reality go to public stables and rent stalls there, but maybe they're reserved for official use or something... *Shrug*
Not everyone wants to be in an FC. Some people prefer linkshells or have issues against FC's.
Even if a small group of friends make an FC together, there's a chance they won't even be able to get a house since wards don't keep up with demand. It's also a big investment for a small group with the threat of houses being removed after 35 days if they take a break possibly being implemented in the future.
I would love to dye my choco, But I am not one for free companies because everyone I have tried seems to want to rush you or ignore you if you don't play the way they want. I enjoy taking my time and exploring, leveling new classes, reading story, No rush but I do like to be included. An FC like that is hard to find but maybe I will come across one some day so till then I will continue to stay solo and only join link shells.
There are plenty of casual-FC in all servers.
Maybe it's just you.
That is the kind of attitude that makes good players like myself not enjoy games as much, You type a short story out but it shows your and angry little person, Go troll someone else.QUOTE=Taruranto;2371664]There are plenty of casual-FC in all servers.

Thank you :) yeah I just do not like to rush on something I am trying to enjoy, It is like a dungeon that many will rush on but I don't care I will enjoy it and try to keep a smile on.
probly dye mine the color of my bards jacket
Well, reading the fine print of the patch notes there's good and bad news. Good news, there's no complicated crafting recipes involved, or melding, or anything relying on RNG. Bad news, your choice of colors are limited to 7-8 colors in the form of fruits you have to grow using the gardening feature. Have fun!
Here's some theorycrafting at work, but if you look at the fruit descriptions it states darken/lighten and your 6 colors are lighten/darken variants of rgb. Imagine a yellow choco starts on the RGB scale for R:255 G: 255 B:0, now feed it lighten green (Valfruit), suddenly the rgb values shift giving your bird a more orange hue i.e R:255, G: 205, B: 0. Just a thought but it would open the bird colors to the entire color spectrum barring minute values since I'm going to guess the color drops in increments.
The food are grown, you buy the seeds with allied seals
each one increase or lower the hue of a color, you change the color by giving the food at FC stable and have to wait 6 hours RL to see the change
Gonna take forever for a 153:0:0 bird!
The question is will it be white or black at 0/0/0. With how they're using the words "lighten/darken", it would seem likely that it would be subtractive and 0/0/0 would be white.
If I'm right and I want a midnight blue, the best strategy would be to alternate lightening R and G 'till white then darken B 'till I get the shade I want.
See, it would make far too much sense if we could just buy the fruits outright with seals.... but since this is SE we're talking about, of course 15 seals only gets you the SEEDS... which good luck getting a patch of land to plant them on in an FC where everyone else wants to do the same thing, not to mention others are probably growing those mandragora pets as well.
let the games begin LOL enjoy

once it becomes affordable enough, I would like a coral-red (or some other form of orangey-pink)
Ah-ha.. Good point. I mean lighten could just be increasing the scale and darken decreasing, so you'd use a combination of xelphatol apple, mamook pear to lower the R:G scale. and O'Ghomoro Berries to increase the Blue from 0 to your desired midnight esque, that is assuming my original statement that the base yellow is 255:255:153
I was thinking more r 255 g 255 b 102 was the starting point :s guess we will find out soon ... did they say 6 hours for it to take effect of the color??? does that mean you can only feed one hue per 6 hours??
I am afraid to ask how many plants per seed will be produced... :s ... its not fair to people with huge free companies trying to garden for all their members at all ...
So basically. Feed it a hue and keep it in there for 6hrs, then take a look and see. I hope they have some sort of warning for that so you don't accidentally take it out prematurely and reset the clock, or you know just remember ;). I'm going to plant the seeds with Shroud Soil and hopefully get a large number of fruits back. Hope they are quick to sprout and not some 5 day waiting period.. ><Quote:
Once fed, a chocobo's plumage will change in six hours (Earth time).
* The chocobo's plumage will change color depending on the fruit it was fed.
* After the chocobo's plumage changes color, feeding it a Han lemon will restore their plumage to their original yellow hue. Unlike other fruits, the chocobo's plumage will change immediately upon inspecting the chocobo stable a second time.
* No change will occur if chocobos are removed from the stable prematurely. It is recommended to feed them during times when the chocobo can be left stabled for extended periods, such as prior to logging out for the day.
