Let's stop all the bad gear design SE.

The topic may have gone a bit out of proportion. The original idea was just to raise awareness of a lot of the great concepts that already exists within the game. Instead of trying to go above an beyond to be "unique" I feel as if the dev team isn't emphasizing on what is already the "unique" aspect of the game, the world, it's people, and it's environment.

In all fairness, the picture posted in the OP is simple towns clothes, if higher end stuff. It's not anything like what we're going to get because we wear battle gear. Doesn't matter if it's plate armor or caster cloth, we're not going to get gear drops that look anything like 'fashionable' clothes. And remember, this is Final Fantasy, so everything's going to be flashy and kind of odd looking at first. It's largely why tank Darklight gear stood out so much, it was a tin can and 'nothing' like anything in any FF game.

I'm afraid this one said it best, these complaints are pointless, No one will ever all agree on what the general crowd will like, what one finds horrible, another finds it the best ever. this is a truly never ending argument, it's like religious debates, you will only worsen your sanity trying to make everyone agree with what only you like and don't like.

I personally like most of the designs in the game. I enjoy that I'm not pigeon-holed into looking frilly and girly all the time. I don't need booty shorts and low-cut tops to show off my womanhood irl or in a game lol. That being said they have plenty of options to expand on, because if they make more skirts or shorts there is definitely the audience for it. I actually really like the ST gear, it's very avant-guarde. Whenever you do an extreme look like that, you're going to get a lot of responses along the lines of "Omg I love that!" and "Omg that's hideous!" and honestly, both parties are right because fashion is entirely subjective. I also support more gear looking as if it were made for nobility, lots of embellishing, gold, gems, etc. That's just the personal look I enjoy in games. Actually thinking about it, the only item I dislike is the scholar's coat, because it just looks like it was designed to have terrible tailoring. Haha.

Ahaha... haha... no, no they don't. In fact, I've been pretty repulsed by Korean MMOs of late. Enough T&A to make even a Frenchman blush, and equipment that unapologeticaly emphasizes it to 11. No thanks. It's a big part of the reason I don't even bother looking at Korean MMOs anymore. Honestly, if XIV were to shut down tomorrow and I still wanted that MMO itch... I'd go back to XI. At least that game doesn't look like it hired Hugh Hefner as an concept art consultant.

If you could get something other than i70 crafting mats to drop out of those dungeons it would make looking at them a lot easier :D

Gotta say that gear design has fallen off from the best in FF series.
Then again games like X-2 XIII-2 and LR XIII have truly horrible, tacky gear.

Not all artists in SE have Nomura's and Yoshida's eye for design and maybe those guys are working on XIV while the rest are on XVI at this point.

I really really like the Shirakee Bard drops from Amdapor City.

I run that dungeon all the time trying to collect all the pieces.
