Why Aren't Thunder Spells Actually Called Lightning in the Game?

It's very counter intuitive as a career black mage to be casting Fire II as my AoE instead of Firaga.

Well, Fira is an AoE. It's just the naming convention is changed between JP/DE version and EN/FR version. Makes no sense to me why they split it like that but SE does whatever they did.
