I LOVE the new direction.

I think the new changes are awesome. While it's true that this system will need fine tuning SE had said as much before they even released 1.18. I love the combat now because it really feels like you have to play as a group to accomplish things. I tried mage a bit since the patch and found I need practice managing my mp pool. lol

I have never had so much fun in FFXIV as I did downing the Ogre for the first time. Can't wait to see how Ifrit battle plays out.

I thought about posting a thread like this too, commenting that I love the changes, but I'll just post here for now. I love the new music and dungeons as well!!! I love the little settlements too, it feels like you can just go there and sit down after awhile of running and take a break. :) Oh and not to mention Grand Companies. Feel like I'm always busy because of them ;)

Despite being a thamaturge, my gameplay hasn't changed and I still love being a mage..minus the lack of curing AOE, but that little detail doesn't phase me.

Now...I just can't wait for chocobos in the next patch!!! *spazzes*

I really enjoyed the changes in this patch. However as some others have mentioned I do feel that combat still has a long way to go. Overall, there are a lot of steps in the right direction (including combat changes) and I can't wait to see what the next patches will bring.

At the beginning levels solo play feels as viable as its always been but from what I've played solo at rnk 27 its not nearly as effective a progression method as it was before.

I also love this patch. I have only taken my lance out for 1 dungeon run, the rest I have been running around as a conj. It's great. I've done most of R49 just running around, doing Darkhold, etc. Keep this direction Yoshi-P. You're on the right path

i think that the patch is great!

now you have to actually go and do things besides leves..which i think is awesome bc i was one of those people lol

now i cannot wait for 1.19 and chocobos!!

I really enjoy the battle system. I'm using abilities and spells I once found incredibly useless since I had endless MP basically. Now it's fun, now it's more challenging.

Might sound like a broken record since I keep bringing it up, but I'm really looking forward to THM refinements. Since it was stripped of it's strong healing abilities, the debuffs still remain relatively useless and when these are adjusted I'll find more use out of my favorite Class :D

Also a fan of 1.18! I've played both Tank and DD roles so far, and in both cases have had to actually take each fight's play-by-play direction into consideration when deciding on what I'm gonna do next, rather than just mash buttons arbitrarily. I'm even actually using abilities that I've never assigned before because they were pointless pre-patch. Once I get around to leveling DoM classes, I expect to have to be conscious of each moment, rather than spend my evening doing this with my eyes closed:

I agree, I really like the direction its taking too. It feels a bit more organized in parties now and you really do need to have every member paying attention, not so much before the patch. I also feel like the classes have a bit more uniqueness to them. I hope they continue in this direction.

edit: I do find it a little odd though that PGL seems to have a higher delay then some of the other melee.

I like that it finally has a direction. Now they just need to keep going.

I've been reading a lot complaints about mages being gimped, but as a THM, I'd like to add in my experience so far with 1.18.

Long time player, first time posting.

I went out party grinding today, and I never had a problem with MP in my light party (4 people) fighting... um... mops? mobs?... enemies that were 10-15 lvls above us, and that's with me constantly buffing, debebuffing, healing, dotting, and nuking. The setup was me, the THM, a MRD, a GLA, and an ARC. My party was killing nonstop. The only time when I had problems with MP was when we had adds of 3 enemies at once.

I think why it worked so well is because everyone in the party knew their jobs. Each member could also backup heal themself if the situation got dicey, and I usually have to think several battles ahead to balance my MP and time everything tightly. I'm only at the late lvl 20's so I don't know if that kind of situation will change at the later lvls.

I can still solo enemies 5-10 lvls above me fine, but with soloing, MP is a bit harder to manage. All of this is my personal experience. Anyways, 1.18 is good so far, and I'll continue to play.
