Fish Desynth

My CUL desynth is around 95 now, any suggestions on what I should use to finish it off?

If you don't mind slow skill ups, I get about 20% catch rate with Pirarucu (North Shroud, Proud Creek) using streamers.
In terms of the big green fish, I don't know any catch rates for them.

Yeah - Pirarucu is the safest bet as any other fish in that location is still high enough to give you at least shards, crystals, dyes and lot of clear demi even if it will not increase your desynth level anymore or you can flog those on MB for some extra profit if you don't want to bother with desynthing thwm. I've actually got The Dissasembler tile purelly on CUL with majority of the fish caught at Proud Creek ...

Shall Shells can give pearls and the Judgment Staff will give a lightning crystal as well as the usual water crystal.

Must try Proud creek, 20% is a way better bite rate than I have been getting on Shall Shells.

Edit: just got a grade 1 dark mater from a pebble crab.

Does anyone know if we can get fieldcraft demimateria from any of the 2.3 big fish? It seems unfair that they only break down into clear demimateria.

When we were first able to Desynth, I desynthed every single currently known 2 Star Green fish, a minimum of 1 NQ and 1 HQ of each ... Somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 fish. I got nothing out of the ordinary except for a Venture like was mentioned above, and a Sea Breeze Summer Pareo which I sold for 3 million gil. I am guessing that clothes are about the best we are going to get. While clothes may not seem like very much, I have to admit I'm not going to turn down this type of money and will gladly take every piece I get. I think it is "likely" that there might be more than just swimwear, but we are all just going to have to find out exactly what it is the hard way, start catching these fish. No better way to put it right now.

Unless I'm mistaken, there are still four pieces of swimwear introduced by the patch that have not yet been found. The Coronal Summer Halter, the Tei Leaf Lei, the Red Summer Pareo, and the Red Maro. I would be very surprised if these weren't obtained from some Big Fish.

I've Had a few theories about potential fish that could hold the other swimwear

Shark tuna: because the lei are tropical themed Costa seems like a potential location. I have only managed to catch one of these so far though and it failed D:

Big Octopus: seeing as Octomamoth was blue and gave the blue leg pieces I thought the red octopus might provide similar results, another thing to note is although this isn't a green rated 2 star it gives me a lower synth % than the Gigashark or Octomamoth. However I have desynth'd 4 of these with no swimwear so far.

I am also interested in desynthing Frilled Sharks but have yet to find any.

Over 100 Silver Sovereign and still nothing xD

So, here's the story. A group of Miq'ote tourists went out on a cruise into dangerous, shark-infested waters. They weren't afraid though, because a totally legitimate goblin merchant sold them some magical swimwear before they left. She told them that the swimsuits were enchanted to be 100% shark-proof, and they had a Scholar check them out just to be sure. Sure enough, the Scholar confirmed that the suits were definitely enchanted, and that they had a shark-immunity enchantment on them.

So, on their voyage, the tourists decided to go swimming with the gigantsharks. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity! Literally. They went out once and were all eaten by sharks. It turns out, the swimwear was 100% shark-proof. Unfortunately, this protection did not extend to the wearer, just to the clothing. You can still find, amid bone chips and fine sand, pieces of this magical swimwear within the stomachs of gigantsharks. To this day, the magical protections in the swimwear prevent the sharks from digesting them and they are too large to pass as waste through the shark's system.

And that is why you find swimwear inside of sharks and other Big Fish. True story!


EDIT: Oh, and the reason you sometimes can find pieces of Waterproof Cotton instead of complete swimwear? It turns out that some of the poorer tourists couldn't afford the expensive enchanted clothing on top of the price of the cruise, so they went with a back-alley budget merchant (who was also totally legitimate) who sold them swimwear made from enchanted, shark-proof cotton... except, that's all that was shark-proof. The rest of the swimwear (such as the stitching and lining and so on) were made of the cheapest materials available and fell apart shortly after the tourists.

Only three items I have gotten from them is fine sand, pigments and ventures.

I've also gotten clear demi materia 3's from SS, id figure after 80 or so I woulda seen something new >_>. Leveling weaver and gsm dropped my desynth to 89 ish T_T also i've gotten my fishing up to 349G/292P w/o Food with HQ spinache quiche i get to 373/300.

Meteor Survivor - With a Desynthesis Skill of 86.79, I had a 62.00% chance of success, which I predictably failed.

Cupfish - With a Desynthesis Skill of 86.79, I had a 62.00% chance of success, in which I got an ounce of Minium and one Water Crystal.

Shark Tuna - 89 desynth, 68%, Summer Sandals.

Meteor Survivor - 90 Desynth, 70%, Sand

I am now glad I hoarded all of my Big Fish. Once I get desynth up on cul, I'll record the results.

Same here. Nearly 200 lol. Seems like Sand is the common, pigment is the uncommon and venture is the rare from this. Can anyone else confirm they got something from Silver Sovs?

I've found the fish for Red Summer Pareo (and most likely the maro too). Screenshot proof below. No, it is not from Shark Tuna.

I have to say, this fishing for swimsuits has gotten me obsessed, I have not gone inside a dungeon for the past week (other than coil and trial roulette), I must have it all!

I am very much the same as you at the moment! I seemed to have carved myself a nice little niche on my server as supplier of swimware:) cant bring myself to go into a dungeon as, well, thats important fishing time :)

Mirrorscale - With a Desynthesis Level of 87.31, and a Success Rate of 64% - I received two water crystals and a pinch of fine sand.

Lone Ripper - With a Desynthesis skill of 87.50 and a Success Rate of 64% - I received a Water Crystal and Grade 5 Dark Matter.

Helmsman's Hand - With an 87.82 desynthesis skill and a 64% success rate - I received two water crystals and a pinch of fine sand.

Found a blue one for sale on Famfrit for a cool 9mil........ *shakes head*

3 stacks of Silver Sovereigns desynth'd, only pigments, sand and crystals.

Megalodon gave me an Aquamarine Bracelet.

5000 desynths just achieved from fish alone. Haven't seen the title on Balmung, although I'm sure a lot of people already got this?

There's only one unique item left that very likely comes from fish: Oschon Roselle Capeline.

It would also be nice to find a tradable source of Waterproof Cotton, especially since I'm a master fisher supplying my wife, who's a master CUL desynther. (I play more than she does, which is needed for fishing, but my desynth class slots are taken up by other classes.)
