Does the other games you play have servers that go through level3.net for example? Pretty much every MMO that does have been reporting more and more issues lately.

If it's a FIos or Level 3 issue then there is really nothing square can do. You need to call your ISP and tell them you are having problems. You should be able to tell them about your tracert data and how this is preventing you from using legitimate servers over the network access you pay for.
It doesn't matter. Square could have installed them and the lag may not have appeared for an entire year. This problem can come or go at any time based on factors square can't do anything about. If it appeared a year after launch you would still be blaming SE, but this excuse wouldn't be useful anymore. What would you say then?

They are the people who can actually do something about it.

Also if you call your ISP, do everything you can to get passed tier 1 tech support they will not be able to do anything about this.
Tier 2 will not really be able to do anything about this, but they can submit a request for tier 3/ engineer.
So it wasn't just me experiencing this. I too am in NY with Fios and experiencing this as well.
Rhode Island here with FIOS. Can confirm the crippling lag. Experiencing it right now.
FC mate also have lag and he's in Maryland.
I'm also having problems with choppy gameplay, I've had 1 90k crash, and other forms or lag/latency. I'm in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Texas area using FIOS. This is the same problem that happened the last big patch. I downloaded WTFast and I'm using the free trial till this gets fixed.
Last time this occurred it took a super long time for it to clear up. Here we are again lol..
Look at all the ignorants. Who chose an NA server in Canada? Who made the un-informed decision to place a megasever across an infamously laggy border? I have had 200ms+ ping to Canada since 2001.... The US has POOR internet infrastructure and SE knew this from the beginning.
Yet they still chose Canada.... At least Canadians have a good enough internet infrastructure to connect to our servers with no lag but the way it is now is a nightmare.
SE is to blame here, plain and simple. When we all bitched & moaned about the WORLD mega-server last October we were handed this garbage instead which btw, IS WAY WORSE than the old world mega-server.. Never have I lagged like I have this past month.

Alright so, the latency is caused by some issues concerning Level3 and Verizon FiOS and probably won't be resolved anytime soon? Fantastic.
Is there any "loop hole" or work-around that will enable us, FiOS users, to play the game unhindered temporarily?

Another player using Verizon FIOS in NY. Resubscribed for 2.3 and I am
having immense amounts of spike delay and packet drop ONLY in FF14.
Hoping to see some kind of a free workaround soon, as I will not be able
to keep subscribing if I cannot even complete low level duties.
Also contacting the ISP is seemingly worthless, at least where I am at.
