Firstly, the cost of transport for a handful of people is minimal and when divided over a couple of hundred tickets becomes inconsequential. Secondly, regardless of where they are the cost of having to set a venue up is always going to be an overhead and I'd imagine it would be considerably more expensive for three days in Vegas or wherever the event is in Japan. So, yeah, at the risk of branding you an apologist, the cost to the UK/Euro players of this game for the event is pretty disgusting considering what we actually receive.

Aussie pensioner here so I can't go either. Got my code today; wish I could use it just to get the digital item...

They really should give more information for potential buyers though. It reminds me of those tacky $10 mystery gifts some shops sell (and in fact I think SE did one of those as a digital promotion with less popular games last year, no FF titles in it obviously). I'm the sort that typically reads the fine print on things before I buy them so the fact that they're not giving any real information sets off so many mental alarms it's not funny.

I think they're betting on people's imaginations, or the FF brand and the fact that there's a limited number of tickets that will sell fast, and neither of those things are good tactics for trying to sell tickets to something like this. Imaginations are hard things to live up to, especially when it's the imaginations of a crowd of avid fans. One wrong step and their failure to give adequate info will disappoint many, which will land them in similar hot water to the original FFXIV 1.0 release with bad press abound and even worse bad word of mouth within the fan base itself. That could easily put future events in jeopardy if this is an experiment in feasibility.

Hopefully they'll release a LOT more information of what people are paying for before they sell out of tickets aimed at subscribers, but at the very latest before they go on general sale.

After refreshing for 10 minutes I finally got the ticket site open in two tabs.... just in case.

SE should really use sites that can handle traffic better.

this site is also used for blizzcon, and when i tried to buy tickets, it never went down, just couldnt get past the queue to buy tickets for it ;/

Got my 2 VIP Tickets aswell :D

Got my ticket with no problems, took me less than a minute and everything was very smooth. None of the chaos associated with the Las Vegas event.

Looking forward to October :-)

You see the "sold out" ? Strange... I used my code at 10:02 BST, there were no VIP Tickets choice. Not even a "Sold out" my only choice was Standard Tickets.

Got my 2 standards as I can only make saturday.

Did anyone put their name on both tickets since it was an option to copy data from first? Just wondering if this is just for contact details on each ticket holder? I will be holding both tickets until I get there for example.
I hope it has nothing to do with ID when handing in the ticket on the day as I didn't put my friends name on the 2nd ticket.

I did the same thing so you wont be alone on the day if there is an issue. Also my friend is super flaky so didn't want his name on the ticket.

I'm sure alot of people did^^ I sent an email asking if it would effect ID though. Will post when I hear from them.

The ID will be based on account holder and the ones who paid, they want to make sure the tickets match up to the person who bought them, its standard affair really.

Emailed support to see if I could get them to re-send or something... (I didn't receive anything, and square's emails aren't sent to my junk)

Their response:

"Also please note that these were a limited amount."

I was so worried there would be the horror that happened with the Las Vegas sales! So happy there wasn't!

Think a few people from pheonix server are going at least. My FC is not going to be in full attendance so can team up with them and IRL mates :D

I’m not trying to argue with you but I don’t think you really understand the huge cost it is to ship and fly this amount of distance. Airlines don’t provide the discount perks they use to 10 years ago.

If you calculate the price of air fair, a ticket at the absolute best bargain rate from Japan to Las Vegas is $900 for one economy seat (though I rarely see tickets at this low price so close to the flight date, I bought a ticket to Japan 6 months in advance and paid $880 for a Malaysia Airline flight 2 years ago). Calculate the costs to fly from Las Vegas to London is twice that at a bargain rate.

We don’t know how many people they plan on bringing, I’ll estimate about 100. Then there is the cost to ship all the equipment, goods, and other stuff (like if they plan on bringing over their large scale models and such). This ads up to be a very expensive trip. Then you add in the cost of hotel and food for all these employees during this time. Based on only 100 employees, plus the cost of hotel and shipping equipment/goods, we are over $200,000 in costs for just the Vegas Trip, not counting venue costs. To rent a venue in Las Vegas is not that expensive depending on hotel and location, the way the hotels sees it is that they will profit from gambling and rooms from the attendees that come. More than half the time I can get a really nice Suit in Las Vegas for 1/4 the cost of a dirty hotel room in Los Angeles. Las Vegas is all about getting people there and reaping the profit on gambling. Shows and conventions are just another way to bring the crowds to them, so they offer deals.

I don’t know how many tickets are going to be sold total for the London event, but I’m sure they are offsetting the costs from what they are getting from the Las Vegas trip to help pay for it. I’m estimating that they will have money left over to get them to London, and from the London funds they will be able to get back home to Japan.

In the end when you think about it, they will not be profiting on these events at all. They might barely break even. Again, the limited about space they have at their venues is also reflected in the ticket price. You’d be even more disgusted by San Diego’s Comic Con if this Fan Fest bothers you, the price of a one day ticket is almost the same price and you aren’t even guaranteed a chance to attend any of the panels or events going on inside the Con because its so over crowded.

It doesn’t matter to them if you can’t go because of the price, there are more dedicated fans ready to take your place.


If you are curious on what may come, you can look up past Fast Fest for FFXI. Im guessing it will be similar.

I don’t know if the London tickets are the same as the Las Vegas one, but you might want to check. For the Las Vegas one, we have until August 31st to make any changes to the names or information on the ticket before it is finalized. You can change it on the Evenbrite site, you will need to finish creating an account if you haven’t and then you can access your ticket to update/change the information.

I doubt you will be able to change this information after this date.

Nope can't see anything on my account of my tickets about changing information or update. Infact I already have my tickets as it's attached to the conformation email ready to print. So I guess they can't be changed.
Still waiting on a reply though xD

I got a VIP ticket with one other lad from my FC.

1. Log into your Eventbrite Account, click on your name and then go to My Tickets

2. Go to the ticket event and click “View Order”

3. Go to the ticket you want to edit and click the “Edit” button off to the right side.

4. Make any changes you need and before you hit “Save” check off the box that says “Send confirmation email to new attendee”

5. Click “Save” to save your information and it will email you the updated ticket. If you dont check off “Send confirmation email to new attendee” it wont send you the updated ticket.
