That would defeat the whole purpose of Frontlines, if GC's didn't matter. He already said it was just a cooldown adjustment, which is great IMO because all my GC's were maxed and could never decide which was my favorite.

You'd really be happy if you & your friends were Rank 30+ in different GC's, thus forcing some of you to switch GC's to Frontline together... beginning all over again at Rank 1?
Do you have any idea the grind required to get to 40? To forsake that for the sake of Frontlining with my friends is an absurd requirement.
It isn't just a cooldown adjustment. If you're already PVPing getting to a high rank takes a few thousand PVP matches (not counting how many you actually need to -win-.
I'm only at Rank 16. I regularly have to wait 10-20min for just one match. At this moment I've done about 250 matches with about 70% win ratio.
I'm sorry but I'm not even willing to change Grand Companies at rank 16, let alone people who have been doing it to rank 30+
Not to mention the 5:1 win-loss ratio reward disparity being so harmful to the system.
Winners stay winners by a landslide in short order.
Especially assisting cheats/win-traders in pummeling those who try to rank legitimately.
Rank 30 & beyond, I keep getting these full win-traded teams in Rank 40 sets who get off on beating up lesser ranks for more r40 gear.
It's so utterly imbalanced.
The Twin Adder will own on Gilgamesh. That is...
I support this. Furthermore, please make it so that every time we change job (ie WAR->SCH) it is reset back to lv1. People should be allowed to play only one job at a time and if they want to play something else, they should go get 2.5M experience points again to change. I miss losing XP on death too - if someone fails too much, they should eventually delevel to 49 and go do some dungeons or FATE to le-rearn how to play.
SE you never cease to surprise; you obviously don't listen to your customers. Do as you please, I won't argue with you or any other trivial discussion... Simple put; you will have one less subscribing customer utilizing your new horrible program. To the rest of you beautiful people enjoy Frontlines, Back to other PvP games be eaz.
Frontline 7/15/14 (qued 7/12/14- stay tuned 72 hours your que will pop).
;)
If you wanna have an easy time winning, join the immortal flames as a lot of die hard / hardcore pvpers are immortal flames on the adamantoise server.
So is this an oversight or is it as intended as what if most of the good pvpers on a server all decide to join 1 GC so that when they Q they will have a very good chance of playing together. So in return that 1 GC team will be stacked in 8/10 battles?
If ppl are smart enough to organize win trading and seeing that SE kinda disregards it for the early half, what's going to stop em from doing so?
* assuming that FL won't be cross servers.
If by "alongside" you mean trying to kill each other, then yes. You'll probably have to rely on luck to make it through the DF at the same time though.
The entire concept of Frontlines is the 3 GCs fighting one another for their respective city-state. If you think people from different GC will be able to fight on the same side I would highly doubt that.
Thing is the rank doesn't matter if morale gear you obtain for rank 30+ doesn't matter in Frontlines either, so why does rank matter so much for your point Parz? It doesn't matter either to complain about it neither, if they already said what is GOING to happen. I am glad it is GC competition like how it kind of was in FF11's Ballista.
This thread demonstrates why adding PvP to any game is a bad idea.
Pong was PvP. Bad idea?
If some of you are choosing to not play with your friends because you invested so much of your valuable time into the grind that it is, I'm so sorry for you. As it stands, the PvP rank has no meaning other than fancy armor in that circle arena. PvP skills are unlocked and morale will have a limited effect in Frontlines. I'll venture a guess that Frontlines will provide a pretty good amount of PvP experience. With a good team of friends and the camaraderie provided by that would probably make the grind not that bad.
But the inherent issue is highlighted with this discussion. People don't play games for fun anymore. People play games because there are numbers in front of our face. Numbers that have to be maximized, minimized, theorycrafted as if we were Albert Einstein himself. Everyone is freaking out about these meaningless numbers in a virtual timesink world that gives you nothing of real world value. Play the game to have fun with your gdamn friends already.
That's good, because I guarantee most people would rather switch back to their original FC than spend 5-6 months getting Rank 40 PvP on ANOTHER GC. Though, I guess if they win trade it up, they might get it done in that 2 weeks before they give up and switch back.
Is there any particular reason why it takes A MILLION YEARS to rank up in PvP? So tedious. And that's after you doubled the amount of xp you get!!
People shouldn't feel like they can't play with their friends or whatever they have earned this far isn't worth giving up to play with friends. PvP rank should transfer, or be much, much, MUCH easier to get. Really it should just transfer, there is no reason for it to reset, that makes zero sense, nothing in wolves den has anything to do with GC. All that aside, I'm glad to see it faction based, I want people to actually have that mean something, but again, there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON, lore, system or otherwise, that you should lose PvP rank when switching GC. I don't personally see the need for a 15 day restriction on switching either, maybe 3 days, or a week, but whatever.
It's probably got something to do with acheivements. There are 5 for each GC getting ranks 1-10-20-30-40. People would have already made progress in one or more of the different GCs so making pvp the same on all would mess them up quite a bit
PvP rank tied to GC is stupid anyway.
I remember Yoshi-P himself said in 1.x something about we can choose our GC freely because it will not have any impact about our friends...
I mean I don't wanna say that FFXI did PvP right (which they didn't), but they at least made it possible to PvP with less emphasis on nation affiliation.
OMG wtf... I am Horde and My Friends are Alliance and we can't PvP together? WTF!
It had been known for quite some time that Frontlines was going to be faction based pvp, why didn't people pay attention?
Is it based on individual or FC affiliation?
There should be 2 PvP ranks, the individual one, for the Wolf's den, and the Frontline one.
With Frontlines you chose a GC you side for. you fight against other GC's groups. Its Treehuggers vs Pirates vs Uldah
With Wolfs Den GC means nothing, you only go to the pit the stain the floor with the opponents blood. You don't get special recognition to down a Limsan or Gridanian as Uldahn. You don't get teamed up by "fraction" but random. You also can have a premade team that where everyone has a different GC affiliation.
Seperating them also would give everyone an equal chance. Frontlines Team of Rank 40 PVP vs PVP newbies vs mixture of all PVP ranks.
If the extras you get from PVP Rank point allocation do do anything in Frontlines, there is even less reason to stick the Rank fixed to GC.
So what you're saying is that despite the clear point I made above your post... the final decision is that there really is some magical PvP wizard who wipes out my memory and makes me forget all the PvP exp and skills I earned prior to switching GC allegiance?
Between this and the fact that actual PvP gear means nothing in Frontline (ie. Morale stat is null and void), you can expect that many players will ignore this new content. What a shame...
The current situation will be very restrictive when it comes to playing with friends. The entire point of content on this scale (and MMOs in general) is to be able to play with friends. Either the system needs to change so that we can switch to a GC with our friends with minimal penalties, or we need to be allowed to temporarily fight for a different GC with our friends in Frontlines.
Have discussed with a friend and maybe we missunderstand something...
Better lets see how it will work and then scream, dont judge before its been released.
We came to the conclusion that our FC does have that friendship thing to one GC and that overwrites the personal player GC choosing for Frontlines... not sure about, but thats the best solution we came up so far...
I don't think you're understanding the situation right now. Changing GC isn't the problem, having to LOSE our PVP ranks when we swap is the biggest deal right now.
For the people who already has a good amount of work put into PVP, are you really gonna just see them split off to do solo queues or force them to give up their ranks to play with their friends?
That's a good start but it's not enough. There's a reason why a lot of pvp fans are still holding out for Frontline to redeem FF14's horrible excuse of a Wolve's Den. We still remember how it took 3 months for an actual class balance patch and like 5 months for us to actually get all pvp skills at the start.
Are we going to have to repeat this process again? Please just link this thread over to the pvp team, translate it to JP, and make them read it over again. I don't want to hear how Frontline become a deadzone and you guys thinking you're doing a service to us by taking in our feedback 5 months later.
We are kind of holding out that it would lean toward FC affiliation and not individual as well. This would fix all the problem instantly but it's still stupid how vague they are with the queue requirement. Either way I would prepare for the worst and get ready for a mass FC change to one GC and be Yoshi's tool if you want to pvp together. So much for PVE not overlapping to PVP.
Cool. Let's have it so people can choose GC at will. That way if one GC on a battlegroup wins often, everyone can switch to it at whim and increase the queues dramatically since no one else will be using the other GCs.
In most other MMOs with a PVP system, once you choose your faction, it is set in stone. Can't change, ever. Or if you can (rarely) change, there is severe penalty. At least they are giving you the option to change with next to no penalty.
If I cant que with friends because of GC restrictions ill boycott frontlines.
You can queue for pve roulette with friends now, but yea, it's stupid how much you get punished in this game for trying to play with friends. Just like how they screwed up with the duty roulette in the first time around, they are going to screw up again before they learn their lesson. Honestly it's getting sad and tiring when you want to tell your friends how good this game is and Yoshi's team come around and drop the ball downhill on you and say please look forward to it.
My last words to community rep to pass along: Let's just cut the online mode for this game. Make it offline solo only, and have an 8 man gambit ff12 style and call it a day so you can save money and work on a real mmorpg in the next 5 years. I'll look forward to it. /sarcasm
Actually its only High and Expert roulette.
And yeah I agree with you! My sister stopped playing cause she wanted to play with me but she had to do all of the roulettes alone and felt like it wasn't really fun doing it with randoms. And we also played a lot of pvp which she grew tired of cause of the exp penalty for searching in group.
I love that all so many people claim they will boycott the only pvp that has potential to be fun and rewarding. I hope SE calls your bluff. Switch and move on you still have time to win trade yourself back up if your hurry. I told my FC when we formed that this would happened some day and as a result we are 90% Twin Adder. We have a few that are not and they are excited that they may get to fight against us. The pvp exp loss seems steep now but you have no idea what the exp from frontlines will be like. For all you know it will trivialize your "hard work" anyway.
So guys
Why did you chose a certain GC, if you never intended to wave their flag in the field?
You should be ashamed of yourselves.Traitors of the flag, sullying the name of the Company!
I don't think it's about that, Kim. Many of us are proud of our GC and in full support of it. The issues are that there is no way to PvP (on the same side) with your friends in Frontlines, PvP gear makes no difference in Frontlines (which many people have worked hard for in the Wolves Den), and that if all your friends MUST be in the same GC to PvP together... then you lose all your PvP XP that you earned... Sorry what? How does that even make sense :S If I PvP then the XP I earn is on ME not my GC, and it should carry with me should I choose to switch my allegiance.
