Everyone seems to think that their community is bad in their MMO but here's the thing: It's like that in every single MMO. So please, leave the WoW stereotype crap back in 2008 where it belongs.

WoWified is a term me and my friends use to describe the feel of this FF wether you like it or not. Compared to the community in FFXI and our server, yea this one's bad. Would you rather have us refer to them as Halo kiddies or COD kiddies? A little defensive there about WoW? Face it this FF is WoWified period. Dailies, mounts, glamours, etc. including the poor attitudes and behaviours of other players based on experience with WoW and it's various clones. Never have we encountered such rampant "toxicity" as we have in this FF so far not only in game but in forums too.
The company you keep is the first thing you should look to establish when playing an MMO. I have never had to worry about what the community was like in an MMO because the first thing i do, before worrying about raiding, before worrying about gearing, is finding a group of people who have my common interest and that i can get along with. If your goal is to clear content and get loot. Don't chase those first, chase a solid group of people, they exist and will lead to what you want. And if you are someone who finds themselves constantly bouncing from group to group and have trouble getting along with numerous communities there's a secret i'd like to give. It's you, you're the problem, not the community.
I think part of the problem this first year was alot were rushing to end game / cap battleclasses that other's who were not in that rush are basically left behind. That said, someone could be hitting their 1st 50 and not quite geared up yet as good as they can be. They may be new to a dungeon/raid but it does seem no one wants to explain and usually want to rush through. Which in the end tends to having the new player being berated overtly harshly instead of mentored. No patience most of the time. I agree about if a player seemingly bounces around that perhaps it is them, but at the same time the fact of what does go on and the frequency that it does by other players on a daily basis can not be ignored. That is just my experience and observations when it comes to FFXIV-ARR so far. I rarely experienced problems with players in FFXI all the years I played it than I have had so far in this FF. Basically depends on your server then on up to the community.
There are only 3 communities a player will ever have to deal with in this game.
Your server's community
The forum's community
The small pvp community
2/3 are optional that being forum and pvp as you get to choose to be a part of.
So technically a better title in general would be like the community is terrible here and it makes me want to switch servers. I should have put that on my old thread lol but that's the past so whatever.
They drew a bit of inspiration from WoW, but NONE of these things are WoW exclusive...People can say that the community is toxic all the want, and while there are people who act in a toxic manner it isn't as bad as people claim to be. I'm not saying there's any shortage of jerks either...there's more than I'd care to admit. It's just the way people on the forums portray our community...and it's not very accurate. XI's community was much more friendly because of how it was made, and you can't really compare it to XIV, though ours is pretty accepting as well off and on. Also, WoW's community is worse, though such issues exist in every MMO on the market. Been there done that for 5+ years.
I'm not sure why people need to post that they are leaving.
I'm not sorry to see you go and I'm sick of people thinking they are so important that the near 2m other players care, that they can't do something or something doesn't work the way they want it to so they say they are leaving.
If you where really disappointed in the game you would just quit. Come back in a few months to see if it better and if not quit again. But NOOO I NEED EVERYONE TO CARE ABOUT IT, AND KNOWN THE GAME HAS THIS/THESE ISSUES.
The server I'm on has RP LS/FC, The FC I'm in is great not a RP FC, I have 2 LS that are better then any FC and always helping people.
All I can say is

If anyone is ever not having fun in a game it's time for them to move on. Say thanks for playing to them and that's about all there is to say.
@ Vahlnir
You are someone I can have discussions with. In the end I just feel more people need to have patience and be helpful. For me helping others is an accomplishment worth achieving. Granted there are some you can never help because they simply will never get what you try to teach them.
Yeah, patience is a rare thing, no doubt about that. I feel the same way about helping others. There are plenty of people who are willing to help too, I just think some have given up trying. I know I'm occasionally met with "STFU, don't tell me how to play!"...but I still try. lol We might not be the most common crowd but we're out there :P
Those threads are funny sometimes. I'm playing mmorpgs for years now and this game believe it or not has one of the most friendly communities I have ever seen. Sure there are ****s everywhere and people who don't know how to play or people who think they know how to play and flame you when you try to help them (that kind is the worst lol). Go to League of Legends where in every game you will hear about your mother or your father and all the kind and beautiful words you can imagine and tell me what is a bad commnunity then. I can say about other game's communities too but I don't have the mood to write about all of them. You have to team up with people you know or trust if you want static runs without problems. No the community didn't make you leave. You left because of your own reasons. If you are so good player like you say why you didn't applied to join one of the good FCs of your server? Blaming others is the easy way to go.
Except almost every mmo that's been made for the past 9 or so years has been a carbon copy of WoW including ARR so the WoW stereotype still stands. When the leveling is braindead easy, solo-centric, and too fast the players barely learn how to play properly leading to the stereotypically bad community.
Sounded like there quitting not because of Aholes but rather ppl don't play to there liking :P or at least that's what i got and if that's the case quit good bye {i mean i know there are lot's of lvl 50 Aholes in this game but to me you sound a bit stuck up and may just be one of the rude ones anyway}
There is a lot to the endgame construct worthy of criticism, in my opinion. One aspect is that SE clearly wants us to commit to regular, unchanging static smallish groups to conquer and farm raids due to the kind of mechanics they use. In saying PUGs are full of less accomplished (i.e. 'bad') players and have proven to be unsatisfactory, well, all I can say is that is how SE intended raiding in this game to be, for better or worse.
