I'm saving ranks 39-40 for frontlines, be interesting to see how much faster the exp grind ends up being than Wolves' Den.
Gear normalization won't save you from me, though.
Since the only class I really play as is monk, unless they increase melee range slightly to help compensate for lag, I'm going to have to say no. Even with Fists of Wind against a non-sprinting target I get "Out of Range" errors while running inside the other player.
I'll give it a try like I did with arena, but I only anticipate the lag issues being even worse with more players.
If it's actually as entertaining as I think it's going to be, my answer is a resounding... HECK YES.
Will I participate in Frontlines? I suppose you can never say never, but I have no plans to participate. I have seen nothing that appears even slightly interesting in it or the other PVP mini-game that makes me want to give it a try.
I most certainly will frontline :D i'll do it even if the myth isint equal 30 mins of bray.
I don't need the Myth incentive to do it. I think Frontlines will be fun enough that it's something I'd want to do regardless.
Newp. Not interested. Clipping my pug's nails sounds more entertaining than pvp anything.
Yep. I'd meet another tank atop a rock in that field.
yeah it seems fun :D Although I know us healers will be the first targets lol
PvP was never in my interest so I doubt it. Maybe I try it once. Has nothing to do with the way SE has designed it, I just prefer smashing monsters with a party. ;)
FF doesn't need pvp. Didn't need it in FFXI, won't need it here.
Yoshida is wasting a lot of resources into something that worked in WoW but has almost to no impact in Final Fantasy.
Can't wait for the "We think BLM is slightly too strong in Frontlines so we are thinking of weakening the job".
Yeah I like pvp but the current 4v4 pvp we have now is sad. I have high expectations for frontlines though but I expect to be disappointed. However, I know it'll be better than what we have now.
I'll join for sure, and if fun will keep there. I don't care rewards and play for fun.
if the myth farm was better i might do it, but i'm not big on pvp.
I love the sound of the PVE mixing with PVP, that is some of the rewards AND monsters in that battlefield.
I am a bit wary of the balancing, some of the current PVP skills are good, others bad...maybe this longer battle would make ones like "Manasong" more viable.
I am excited for the job switching at the outpost to be fair, although jobs aren't currently in a rock, paper, scissors dynamic...some jobs do perform better than others.
It would be hilarious if all 24 in one raid were WHM's with Medica 2 ticking x24....I wonder if there is a balance regarding this...like making a max of 4x any class...
Still it makes the battle more tactical I hope...
I will let some of my FC friends try it first. If healer mortality is not too terrible, I may dip my toe into it.
It might be a lag fest, but I'll give it some chances.
Can't wait for Frontlines! :)
It would be great to make an incursion into PvP. . . since I don't know how it works. . . and hopefully learn how to play along with big groups of players.
I have messed around with Wolves Den a little bit and enjoyed my time there as a MRD and more recently a MNK. Working on earning marks to get a set of gear for frontlines, but the queues, man! The queues!
I will definitely be trying frontlines extensively until I'm sure its terrible, which I don't think or hope it will be.
P.S.
RE: MNK not being able to hit targets - unless you have some legit horrible lag that would prevent you from doing anything Titan X+, it sounds like you might just be getting out-played by your targets
RE: Healers dying in 2-5 seconds - only if the DPS/opposing tank is phenomenal and you are god awful. A moderately skilled healer versus moderately skilled DPS/Tank will take about 3-4 minutes to kill. The match usually goes to whoever kills the opposing healer first, so your main job is survival.
No. No interest in PVP whatsoever.
My first experience in PVP as summoner? I was "slept" most of the time. :D
I am looking forward to the new FC hunts and especially Frontlines.
I am all for FC orientated content.
Skill and experience in chasing your target makes an astounding difference. There are a handful of dragoons and monks who outdamage me in EVERY match...but most melee dps struggle to do 20% of what I'm putting out. It's not a gear thing as it's always been this way, since before I was rank 20 as well as when I do fixed-gear friendly 4v4s. Abilities and morale aren't the reason these people are killing the healer - it's because they know how to avoid being kited, how to bait purify etc.
Well, they did nerf miasma II and storm's eye in both PVE and PVP. But other changes like summoner rezzing were only changed for PVP.
This Gold Balli☆☆☆☆star will be participating!
I don't really like PvP in this game but I'll be sure to give it a try.
It depends on how much the fresh blood jumping into the Frontlines are screwed compared to those who have been participating in the PvP aspect of the game already.
If you're referring to a personal experience sort of thing, time will put people on track to compete. If it's gear related, and it becomes a full-on landslide victory for the better geared teams, I'd imagine a level cap being put in place for it. These large scale battles are generally not considered competitive for ranking.
I'll be playing, would like more details on how it all works though.
considering I've yet to play my first pvp match in this game.... prooooooooobably not ;P
newp. I have never had any interest in PvP in any game ever. I don't really care about it in any form whatsoever. So no, I wouldn't do it, no matter the rewards. It's just not my thing. I hope y'all do enjoy it though. I hear the current PvP is kinda lame, so it'll be nice for people who actually do enjoy it to have something awesome and rewarding, rather than boring and pointless.
Doesn't anyone check Lodestone. I thought you'd all be going nuts over a new mount. It's not a unicorn this time.

Eh.... PvP balance in this game is horrible, I'd rather not get into that headache, or have to play an unbalanced job to succeed. There are much better PvP games out there if I want that. lol
