But there are other options to get other high ilevel weapons.
It's like going into an ice shop, seeing that they sell strawberry ice and then tell the seller "I don't like strawberry ice. I leave" and ignoring all the other ice sorts in the shop.
You're missing his point. He already has the optimum stats on his weapon being a paladin. So he's basically going through all this bullshit for nothing but a simple ilvl upgrade. he's not "customizing" jack shit.
And yeah I didn't even think about that for folks that already have the perfect stats on their weap. That blows...
If grinding Myth was the only way to work on Novus you might actually have a point. As it stands, if you choose to do it via Brayflox grinding alone that's totally up to you, but you have nobody to blame but yourself.Quote:
So glad Yoshi-P got all of our letters saying "We want more Brayflox!"
800 Myth for a map x 0/75 infusions.
60,000 Myth.
Final Brayflox brayflox brayflox XIV 2.0
My main gripe is the fact that there are so many options to utilize to make this different than the Animus, but they don't use it.
Company Seals > Soldiery Tomes (which I thought would've been logical) > Quest lines > Rowena's Tokens > Dungeon Clears > Book-like content > Possible drop from Extreme Primals > etc.
There's 3 quite different options, what more do you want? We'll also get more ways to get Alex with 2.3 and subsequent patches.Quote:

Different as in, not supply "different" names for the same methods. The only thing "different" is the fact that there's a daily guarantee. The rest is RNG from Fates (much like the Atmas for the Atma upgrade) and myth grind (most efficiently from Brayflox HM, for the Animus upgrade).
I understand that heavy raiders feel threatened by the fact that people can obtain a weapon nearly as good or similar to the end game clear item, but in all reality, everyone who keeps pointing to the fact that they gave "different" options are purposefully ignoring it. And by the time 2.3 comes out, i110 will have easily been obtained from raiding to t8. And if people are that casual, gathering the items, gil/materia and alexandrites to perform the novus upgrade, they aren't going to have the time to invest in it by the time the next upgrade comes out if they even have the animus at this point.
Plus, the suggestion of using seals just guarantees that if someone blows through 200 fates, they can get an extra alexandrite from the thing, or they have the addition of turning in darklight gear from different dungeons to obtain alexandrites, which would've added an easily viable option and welcomed addition to make it plausible to obtain by doing any dungeons, which is kind of what you got from the books when you had to clear 3 different dungeons. The options are still very limited.
And I strongly think soldiery should've somehow been included into this, whether or not it was a 100-150 soldiery turn in to buy one alexandrite per day.
We still don't even know the entire roadmap of alexandrites to get the "75" stat points and what success chances they have. People without money in the end, if the success rates are terrible (much like the 5th overmeld) they could potentially be spending millions or even more countless hours spirit bonding.
No one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to only run Brayflox.
They're really 3 quite different methods. We didn't have these choices for Atma/Animus grinding. Atma was FATE grinding and Animus was Myth/Book grinding. Now we have a choice between a daily quest, myth or FATE's. You can do one or all of them, totally up to you.Quote:

I'm not one of those people. I don't even run Coil2 and I think the options we have are fine. You can choose to work on it casually, or you can choose to grind yourself into oblivion.Quote:

The options are do a daily, grind something you've already done, grind something else you've already done for a considerable amount of time.
Every person in a coil static passing t8 regularly has their i110 weapon, most of which require slight shifts in gear to achieve a stat balance. Even so, to acquire that weapon, it has a minimum combined total time of 15 days if you grind it off, which also includes 30 dungeon runs (and less considering you'd have got at least 90 soldiery from t6-7-8).
This is suggesting a 75 day minimum, or shorten the time by performing above said activities that you've already done likely a multitude of times.
I wonder what this quest was going to be like in 2.25 before they delayed it.
Let's hold a petition to rename the damn place:
Mythflox Soliderstop.
Sounds suspiciously like we're playing an MMO.Quote:

Yes and as someone who does roulette's regularly, therefore earns plenty of myth, and does FATE's when they are close by, I don't actually need to put in ANY extra work to get more Alex than one per day coming in.Quote:

That's because you only have one job at 50. The game is trying to tell you something.Quote:
I mean they seriously need to give us more uses for soldiery tombs. I've been capped for two weeks now and nothing to use it on.
They do Mythflox Stupidstop all day because it literally takes like 10-15 minutes if you have a good PT
to run it. You can't do that in any other dungeon. The others ones with equal Myths or Soliders take about 20-25 or so.
As we know, people love to run and find the fastest content available to zerg roll it and get bored.
Games a theme park. The best of rides get boring, you switch rides, they too get boring. Only thing to do is take a rest and wait for new things to come.
Take it from me because I done CT, and other dungeons to get the hell away from Brayflox and now I'm done subbing for a while lol.
Nothing I can do to make the game enjoyable and I do want to gear up more. If you aren't having fun, step away for a bit. c:
Aww Rutee. ; u ;
I've un-subbed for a while now. You can still view/post on forums even if you stop the sub. I plan to return in 2.3 of course.
It's not a bad game by any means but y'know...I left in 2.0 too, I do returns ahah.
I do understand.
However, seeing this come from you even though we're on different servers makes me sad, Cress :(
If you actually are unsubbing, I hope you don't stay away from us for long.
Oh, I had no idea you could leave and still be an active forum poster xD heheheh, silly me :p
Glad to know you're not staying away though ^_^
Isn't this exactly what everyone who didn't want to grind atma wanted?
They wanted a way to see their progress
They got it
So now the ones who like farming got atma farming, and those who wanted a progress bar got this.
All of the "I quit" threads should be gone now!
I like the other options, but I'm scared that I'm gonna get called a noob for NOT having what everyone else grinds for in higher level content :/ Maybe that's why everyone else falls into the cookie-cutter gear set, because it's a set standard? If other options are sub-par, then it would be understandable, but I like to mix and match things to optimise certain aspects for different tasks. Like having a set for PIE, another for SPELL SPEED, one for solo content and one for group content. In short, I like trying other different flavours in the ice-cream shop! But are the strawberry-haters gonna hate on me at end game for doing something different? D:
To the OP: If the grind is getting you down, take a break from it! As other people have suggested, there are other ways, maybe do those for a bit amidst farming Brayflox.
To be quite fair, you get one Alexandrite a day anyway... it's just you have the option to go faster with the 800myth or FATE grind.
And yes, more ways to get them in 2.3 so cheer up ^_^
While I very much enjoy having more options, them being basically more Myth or Fate farm depresses me.
It's honestly just poor design choice at this point. Out of all the possible ways they could have implemented it they decided to add more meaningless, braindead grind. Oh joy.
It's what you make of it. I'm on the path to book two. No rush, it'll be there still when I play. I'm pretty sure a lot of you need to look at it from a different perspective before you burn yourself out.
Is it just me or has anyone else feel like the the ffxiv relic is a variant of the ffxi magian trails relic quest. But it's all myth instead of collect X amount of item or kill X amount of monsters
The whole relic questline seems to be about making (more or less) irrelevant stuff relevant. Like FATEs, guildleves, killing random weak mobs, various unused dungeons and now materia.
Imagine if we got new content only used for these quests. Like they did with Chimera and Hydra. At the very least, give us one exclusive new fight or dungeon for each upgrade. That would have been something...
To get the next uber weapon "Stratus" it will be an invigorating and lengthy test of combat prowess and skill spending 200 days harvesting BEETS!
Please look forward to it!! (and subscribe)
The worst part is, I'm considering the absolute WORST conditions would take you 75 CASUALLY. With better materia, a controlled, moderate amount of grinding, and just doing the daily it should only take a few weeks for most people.
But no, people are having kneejerk reactions because they can't just go kill something to get their epic lootz. Go run Coil or EX Primals if you want to kill for loot.
How do you know that the worst conditions will drag the quest out for 75 days? Depending on what we see in later progression will higher grade materia; it may take only half as long, or it may take twice as long depending on RNG. I'm not saying that it will or not, I'm not going to make assumptions about what no one knows, but I will say that the relic quest line seems to keep gradually becoming less and less worth the time spent and I think that's where most others are coming from as well.
