Yes they realized they screwed up... but too little too late. What they get for trying to make it a casual game, it will always be a shadow of its former self now.
Most the people in my guild are here in XIV not because they like this game but because nothing else out is better yet. I will lose alot to Archeage, potentially some to EQN when that comes out. But besides those game everything else is also a WoW clone.. same as XIV. We all in general love the FF theme, the graphics, the art, the music. But we all hate the endgame design almost in its entirety, worse then wow comes up in chat and talk in ts alot. Too much focus on linear design and 0 focus on guilds.
MMOs should be focused on guilds at endgame. Not statics, not solo play, not pugs. It should have those but the majority should be focused on guilds. That is the element that keeps people in mmos longterm. Not new kiddy rides every 3 months.
MMOs should have dept to them, This game is the most shallow AAA mmo out there currently.
Debatable now that WoW changed the gener and everyone copy pasted the model. But MMOs should not be like an offline game... they should not be based on linear game design.
