Up until now, the patch had no concrete date. If he doesn't deliver by June 21st give or take a day or two... or three, we can all yell at him.
That kinda sucks, my college break ends on July 28 ;_;
Well, we'll hold a spot for you when you get back, Ashley. :)
How odd that he already knows now that it might get delayed a few days. It's two weeks away, how would he?
I'm grateful for a date, but I'm looking forward to the day when Yoshi doesn't have to say things like "I apologize", "Sorry" and "bear with us just a bit longer".:(
I still didn't forget about the November patch that almost kill this game
I think you may have misread what he was trying to say. What was implied was that not all raids will be in dungeons, and in the future we will most likely be able to participate in raids above ground also. I hope that answers your question.
I'm quite happy with the planned implementation date of 1.18. 2 weeks is ideal for me as I have some things I want to get done ingame before I get completely sidetracked by raiding.
I'm excited for letter of the Producer XIV to see what kind of excuse he makes up since both delays where because of "fine tuning".
It's like it takes them 2 days to make whatever content it is and 2 months to "fine tune" it, which is ironic because it's never fine tuned anyway and we'll be the ones actually testing it and pointing out the flaws come July 21st... Or 23rd... Or never.
Ok, more wait, I've already given it too many opportunities.
Too much of a delay, and given the history of the game so far,
they will keep delaying other patches, and patches instead of making the game better,
are actually making it worse.
Or public test servers. The fastest way to find where everything breaks is to leave it up to the players. The faster you find what's broken, the sooner you can fix it.
The last non-A/B/C patch (1.17) was released mid-April, the last patch (1.17C) was released mid-June. So it'll be about 3 months from 1.17, 1 month from 1.17c. Didn't take them 4 months to get this out no matter how you look at it, get your fact straight next time.
On topic: I'm willing to give them the time they need to make sure it's finished and works correctly. Rushing is what got us here in the first place, I'd rather be patient and have them put out good content. We'll have to wait and see if it was truly worth the wait but it's looking that way at least to me.
And then my birthday is the next week. Maybe I'll take that day off and play some games. :)
It's not about rushing, at least to me. It's about releasing a schedule and sticking to it.
I'm actually not that bothered about the delays in this patch because, let's be honest, it's not the miracle that's going to save the game. I'll be done with the dungeons within a week at the most and auto-attack is the only battle difference (damage formulas are staying the same which means gear is still going to be useless).
I'm bothered by the fact that they haven't managed to stay on the promised schedule for a single patch so far and with this one being delayed again, do you really expect them to make it through that entire list of "Summer 2011" features?
I seriously, honestly doubt it.
Fine, feel free to be negative. I'm sure as hell not going to stop you. Forgive me for having a little hope and trying to be a little positive. God forbid anyone should actually try to slightly optimistic in the face of an actual date (give or take a few days).
They could have just given me neither after promising several times that this content was coming and the game was going to be improved after admitting their initial failure and saying they would make it up to their loyal customers? Try again.
Some of you talk like SE isn't a business or something and I really find that amusing.
Oh and thanks for personally insulting me, that's very mature of you.
And here I was rushing THM to 50 before the patch, I will be there by the end of the weekend and have Archer damn near close by the time this patch comes out. Guess I can't really complain, atleast I have something to do in the mean time.
Sorry guys if I really cannot share your enthusism and positivism in the face of finally getting a release date...
From my personal point of view this was the lamest way to announce a delay I have ever seen. Yoshi sugar coated it in a Producer letter... the shortest letter ever. And right after announcing the date he slips in the possibility for a 1-2 days delay. But wait 2 days would mean saturday so let's say those 2 will be 4 and then we are close to the end of the month and surely another excuse to delay to the end of the month or even August will follow...
Sorry to be so negative but I ran out of optimism after reading the last couple of producer letters... One month delay is not the end of the world considering we are finally getting some content but what worries me is that when 1.18 is delayed like that, all the patches that follow will be delayed too. All they have given us so far is empty words and useless patches.
It is about time SE shows us some facts...
Another Yoshida letter, another disappointment.
There's a large number of things SE can do with this game, not all of it to please you, at the end of the day, its their product, not yours. They could have halted on a date until the day of release, and you will still be complaining,
And you'll still complain once 1.18 is released, so I'm sure they're talking a longer view than satisfying the average forumgoer putting up threads about how SE is too slow and that soon Tera/GW2/Skyrim/Diablo, will be the game they will sever all social contact over.
Actually I've been quite happy with most letters because they tended to give us information that would at least justify the delays in some way. Or at the very least something NEW that we could peruse/discuss.
This one was just utter disappointment though. It's also crazy how he says July 21st as if this was the best date possible and manages to slip in another delay of a couple of days like it's never been delayed before.
I never said the game should please me, I said it should please their customers which it clearly is not. I'm one of those people that would rather not have a date than have a disappointing one, at least it's a surprise of sorts once it comes out.
I never mention any other game when I criticize this one and I feel the "MAKE IT LIKE WOW/TERA/FFXI" people are the most annoying users on the forums. Even more than the whiteknights like yourself. The reason I'm so passionate about this game is because I want to play THIS GAME, not Tera, SWTOR or something else.
But thanks for making biased assumptions about me for the sake of making them.
That's a weird way of thinking, considering that people complaining on this forum are the only ones in the world that actually give a sh*t about this game... so if us that belived in SE and in FF14 at the point of waiting for a year won't be satisfied I really doubt that anyone else would ever be.
You can't go on pretending that everything is ok, because it's not. If they keep releasing patch at this rate and with the content we've seen so far, FF14 won't have the time to build a solid playerbase and if this happens when those competitors are gonna be released SE won't get a new user even if they set traps on the streets.
I wonder if Yoshida turned around and said "Well, they bitched about Tanaka saying sweet FA, and now they bitch about me, trying to read the general consensus of what-needs-to-be-done through 2,000+ posts of Kilta's broken english, and trolls, my little pony and whining/bitching, and moar bewbs! From LftP XIV onwards it'll be copypasta'd 'It'll get here when it does, bitches.'"
Shut up and let him do his job.
To certain individuals. If it is so disappointing by all means quit and don't come back, you'll be doing yourself and everyone else a favor because you're not helping. With that said, the dev letter explained very clearly bugs needs to be tested before implementation, every other letter feeds us vital information about what we asked for regarding this patch and beyond. We asked for a date and we got one. Yet some people still feel itchy enough to complain. You know who you are, no need to reply.
Just a short post about when they're going to get 1.18 out. Nothing else to the letter, no nice tidbits about what's possible in the future summer plans?
I think we could have just seen a basic Lodestone post about the patch date and it wouldn't be too much different.
I'm not the one to be elitist over in-game levels but please, it's pretty funny how most overly-defensive posts are from people who's highest job is under 30, which clearly means they haven't been playing the game long enough to understand where me and some others are coming from.
With that being sad I will quote Alcide in saying that the reason we are so fierce about our opinions is because we care about the game. Kind of like how your guys' moms disconnect your PC after you've been playing too many videogames.
