What would be the point of the vanity system then?

Looks like Buzzkillington plays this game
Guys, for fairness' sake... anyone who reasons their dislike for "silly" or "tacky" glamours with immersion breaking...
We have character names like Salmonella Chan. Falafel The'usurper. Snuff Riot. Dps Healer. Cereal Killer. Chops Wood. Ty Tuesday. Critical Mass. And I can't even count the Farrons, the Strifes, the Dinchts, the Uchihas, the Uzumakis, the Scarlets, the Pizzas, the Cookies - and the various permutations and combinations of all of these and their linked associates, of course..... the list goes on and on. If you're arguing for immersion on account of clothes - you want to get all these banned and forced to an auto-generator renaming too, right?...
I actually don't mind. FFXIV's clothing and gear isn't as sexually awkward as most MMOs, namely Korean F2P ones that strive off fanservice.
Not only do I enjoy seeing people running around with that hilarious snowman head, it's actually interesting to see the outfits people decide to throw on.
Moreso than allowing for seasonal gear, the mix-matching of actual gear sets is really neat. If only you could dye the glamours though...
It would be even more neat if we could mix and match all the gear we have earned on multiple classes/jobs without the game going "LOL u can't use dat 'cus u r not correct class/job 2 wear dat lolol".
As of right now, the glamour is just kind of there to avoid the standard "clown look", but only during end-game (or if you have reached 50 with at least one class). Which means you will still look like a clown until you do.
I relize i can dress in lightning uniform interesting! nobody can stop me from dressing like lightning!
the special snowflake is strong in this thread
if glamours were forcefully disabled inside of instances it would complete break the glamour system and make it a total waste of development time, we already had vanity in the open world..im sure most of us had vanity gear sets saved. the whole point was that we wanted to be able to wear our vanity gear outside of the open world. now we can, and i highly doubt they are going to take it away because some people arent fun or arent creative enough to come up with their own unique or intersting glamours.
the OP is going to have a rude awakening someday when he wakes up and realizes the world does not revolve around him
someone figure out DAT mods.. miss that from FFXI
I'm glad they were pretty lenient on the whole glamour/vanity thing, personally. Is a snowman tanking a raid boss ridiculous? A little bit. That's all part of the fun...people still play for fun, right? >_> <_<
