Good; gives the devs reason to fix the mobs in future patches to make them unique even if it means making small changes to the mob. Like that spriggan (spelling?) holding different stuff.
I'll start posting the ones with 10+ likes on the OP with link to the post for easier reference.
something like the book of knowledge from warhammer online would be great.
Quest log Widget
Different to the current quest log in that its always on scree, smaller, compact, and it has status icons such as "New" "Normal", "Progressing" and then Complete doesnt display on list. Similar to most common MMO's.
With an additional set to display new quests i can get due to my rank or w/e, display like the newest 5-6.
Harvesting direction Compass (mini map) widget.
Appear when I select harvest direction abilitys.
Turn off 10secs after ability is used.
More user friendly then reading number of yams.
I would just bring back this widget that was in the game at launch:

Seriously, being able to see how much gil you had at the touch of a button was super convenient, not to mention it looked nice.
Maybe we can combine 2 widgets into one ... the health bar of your character and the widget for your party's health.
Equipment condition indicator to replace the current debuff, one that shows on your main screen just under the minimap exactly what piece is damaged. Might be hard with the amount of items we can equip, but it's something to think about ^.^
Maybe a widget where you see all the HP bars of the enemies that you are currently fighting, would look like the party HP bars but for the enemies. That would be useful for fights (more so bosses fights) where there are adds and and multiple targets so you could have a better view of their HP.
I would like a simple archer only widget that tells me how many arrows I have equipped.
Another cool widget would be a loot widget that allows the party leader to decide how to distribute loot, along with giving party members the ability to roll for loot
A gear set widget that allows you to set certain items to a gear set and to switch between the gear sets with a single click of the mouse would be very convenient
Also a widget similar to the gear set widget (this could even be the same widget) that allows you to switch between different action bar set ups with a single click of the mouse would be nice.
Finally I would like an addition to the clock widget which gives a count down till the next leve reset.
Okay, one more, a custom sound track widget which allows to me control all sound effect volume levels along with being able to play my personal music would be nice.
Edit: all of my ideas are considered widgets correct?
To add on to Alzelia's sound track widget ... have one that can sync up with your iTunes, Zune, Windows media player or whatever it is that you use.
I was thinking of an expansion to the current time/moonphase widget in-game. Something along the lines of that one you can get for the iPhone. It will display things like date, time, weather, element-related day/week/moon/year, moonphase, governing guardian for the month/year and his/her element, astral and umbral relationships to all dates/times/guardians. I believe this would be extremely helpful to crafters in particular, assuming that these factors play a large role like they did in FFXI. There are a lot of options with this, and I think many players would appreciate having the information at their disposal rather than having to memorize it all (like I did in FFXI lol).
Widget Background Color/image/transparency.
Wish you can change the background for the menu, widget backgrounds kind of like FFXI with transparency options. I know some think the background is too simple - not one settings for all widget background but settings per widget; I know that isn't that hard to do, specially if its just color backgrounds (even image backgrounds shouldn't be hard to implement.)
http://warhammeronline.wikia.com/wiki/Tome_of_Knowledge
For those that don't know what that is; I looked it up. +1 from me
An equipment set widget would be nice.
Kind of like macros but exclusive to equipment, allowing you to save some sets of gear and switch on the fly with a click. Currently macros don't have enough lines to have a full gear swap + accessories so it's a bit troubling to have to switch manually every time or create a separate macro just for accessories.
I'm not against a widget for gear swaps, but hasn't it already been confirmed that there should be no need for carrying tons of different pieces of equipment for just one class/job? I can definitely see it useful for switching between different classes' gear sets though, if that's what you're meaning instead.
/nod same with you; I think the gear swap widget for switching to other class generally, FIGHTER > CRAFTER, have to have 2 macro's just to change gear + another one for accessories. Everything doesn't fit in the 10line macro's we got so we have to make 2 macro's for it... which kind of sucks...
How about class change widget? Same idea but can store gear info + abilities/action slot info by just clicking switching everything to that class. I read somewhere their are working on the abilities/action to be stored per class but just saying this might be another way.
I understand, yeah that would be a major hassle. I did the same in FFXI, but had to switch gear around myself because I had to switch gear back and forth between mules.
To loosen up cluttering like that, if the widget for gear swapping is implemented, any gear for that class you created the set for should be placed into a 1-slot inventory item with an icon resembling some kind of bag that says "<class> Gear Set." Or, you know, SE can be the same as always and do whatever they can to clutter up out inventory and force us to buy more retainers. I still wish that one day they would remove equipped gear from your inventory instead of have it take up space ... maybe that should be a new thread lol
took it away from OP and keeping as backup for later use... might not even use it but just in case.

Widget Ideas with 10+ likes
(dunno how much I can do this...+ if its first time you're reading this thread better to read through each idea's to see if you like rather than just clicking on below with 10+...maybe i should do 5+...dunno)

Offensive and Defensive targets.
I posted this widget idea a few months ago (date is in May because I deleted the old thread to repost it in the proper category)
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-When-in-Range
This just popped into my head, but the ability to save up to 3 (or more, this just sounded like a reasonable number) widget configurations. Along with this, the option to turn widgets off and only have them appear when the menu is opened. Also, Menu display configurations.
lots more great ideas in here! I hope the devs take widget ideas somewhat seriously one day. something I'd like that I haven't seen bought up yet;
Media Widget!
simple camera icon floating around. hitting it will turn off the UI and then the icon (only thing remaining) splits into two, camera and video camera. can take a screenshot or start video capturing at the touch of a button.
I know we can take SS now, but it is not very intuitive and I forget the hotkeys all the time lol and video capture would be great for fan made videos. C'mon SE! you have a beautiful world created, lets us market it for you, just give us the tools :p
I would welcome any of these ideas we can fit on our screens. I think the less emphasis that is put on the "main menu", the better! 80% of the functions I need on a daily basi, should be staring me right in the face, and using the main menu is just a last resort
I definitely like the idea of being able to capture video without the use of 3rd party software. Letting us to easily make videos and post them on YouTube would get the word out there for "free" which is a word I'm sure any big company likes.
Mob Ability Alert
==============================
A widget that can be placed around the screen that will alert the player when the targeted monster is preparing to use an ability.
This can be used to allow players to escape the affected area or take other steps to avoid or prepare for the attack's effect.
Added a template if anyone wants to follow it or update their previous post.
Trying to make it easier for the reps/devs to see if this thread gets any attention. :)
To expand on this idea, they should also make it so that whenever a friend logs in or out a small notification pops up + a sound, to show you who logged in. You would be able to turn off the notifier if you don't want them to pop up, and also be able to move the notification wherever on your UI you want.
Description:
Kind of like the repair request but for getting item crafted or materia attached to gear WITHOUT trading the items to player which can result in times where player will run off with your item/materials.
Even if you trust the person stuff like this happens and saw it before on JP forums on XI so I'm suggesting this type of system/widget.
- Just like crafting screen you put the items/materials required to make that item just like regular crafting. It will give you option for what you can craft with those item/material and it will include the shard/crystals onto the screen.
For materia craft put the gear/weapon you want the materia to be attached along with materia, and catalyst.
On this screen there is another check box which allows players to craft without your agreement. (used for #4 below)- Put in the reward you want to give to the person that crafted successfully just like the repair system.
- Once the item is up for craft it will have a new icon like repair next to players name.
- Crafter will come and check your request just like how repair works.
Iif they decide on crafting for you they click on craft button which will then send the player requesting to be crafted, then that player will have a icon like trade window which displays that crafters class and levels he/she has and to allow or deny that person to craft for you.
(UNLESS in step #1 you checked the box to allow players to craft without your agreement then it just skips this step and lets crafter attempt the craft.)
Another idea I had here was to show players rating - just think of it like eBay seller, once you sell something you get rated, and as you get more positive ratings you start selling more. Same for here, you craft something for a player and the player can rate them, need to find out a way people can't abuse this... they always will find a way anyways... but better rating for that crafter more trust you can have to allow that person to craft for you.
Reason for the rating system - Some players may have high rank/level craft but to mess with players they will get accepted but will fail on the actual crafting on purpose by choosing bad options on purpose.
What you all think? This way you don't have to trade the items to someone to have it crafted, and you are allowing the player to craft so whatever the result it is your own responsibility for letting that person. With the rating system it also shows if you can let that person craft or if you're scared you scared wont let them. (Was thinking also adding minimum level requirement for the crafter but that might be too hard to add.)
It's not as good as giving to your buddy and stuff to get higher rate of HQ since most likely these people will synth the fastest way they can to walk away with the reward so it will probably end up with NQ but it allows players who can't craft a chance to get items crafted.
[Widget Name] {import}
========================================
[Details/Reference] {imports a player made widget, after use, the widget assumes the properties of the imported widget. And a new, empty, import widget is made.}
[Widget Name] Recipe Book Widget
========================================
[Details/Reference]
As an aside to the usual crafting method, to allow for Quicker Crafting without going through all the process and menus.
Flick through the recipe book, choose your recipe, drag and drop ingridients onto the recipe list in the widget (drop as many of each per stack of item), Quick craft button?
Not sure if this was said, didnt read everything, but an Achievement list needs to be in the game somewhere, dunno if i would put it on the main interface, but in the main menu or somehing. that probably doesnt count as a widget then
