oooo, that's a good idea. We could level jobs up using a merit like system from FFXI. Except instead of Merit points it'd be 'sphere points' and you'd be able to use them on something like a sphere grid.
Yes, Final Fantasy does always seem to make each Final Fantasy truly unique. They do however share a lot of things. For a long time Every Final Fantasy had a random battle system. Tetra master, the gold saucer, and chocobo hot and cold minigame things could have the idea taken and simply change the name. Though I'm sure no one would be bothered by an exact copy of chocobo hot and gold or one of our past card games.
Things like the sphere grid; I don't think people expect an exact copy of. Even though Square enix does redesign their ideas every Final Fantasy, ever since Final Fantasy X, every single player Final Fantasy has used a system that was simply a modification of the sphere grid (Liscence board, Crystarium). When I say I'd like to see a sphere grid I don't mean, GIVE ME SPHERE GRID, I mean give me FFXIV's version of it and make it unique and fit in the world.
Sorry for double post ; ; I was replying as I read.
1.FFXI
2.Jobs(Samurai)
Well I'd split it into two groups.
MMO FF: XI
I'd want uber hard to get Relic Weapons, and Dancer and Summoner to return.
Console FF: FF X
I want the same sort of story that I get totally wrapped up in, and the return of Blitzball in PvP form.
FFXII
Espers battle theme. I like how they implemented the summons in FFXII. The battle music changes to that epic theme when you summon. it changes the most ordinary battle to an epic battle. I hope our battle theme changes too when we get summons XD
FFXI Mog bonanza. ^^
edit: FFVIII & FFXIII: Gunblades. Yep, I want Gunblades!
FFXI
-weapon skills/chains
-mog house
-samurai
-ninja
FF VIII - I liked how we could Drain Magic and new Magic from Mobs.
FF IX - I seriously liked the character style. Words can't describe how disappointed I was when I learned that we would get the exact same races that were in XI. I love my lala but seriously.. they had practically new everything and they decided to recycle the races?.... still angry about that decision.
What if we had a system where we could level our skills and at a time unknown to us could grow into a new skill. Pokemon style voice "Your Cure evolved into Curaga!"
This is probably too complicated for them to implement, anything with any depth seems out of the question for now. Also, anything that sounds like you need to grind will have people jump up the curtains with fright and start whining that they do not want any kond of grind. Myself liked how you had to skill up your weapons and magics in FFXI but think it would be better seen if spells could evolve with quests rather than use.
1: Final Fantasy XI
2: Favorite feature: Job system, and it's party play, and the strategies it brought to BCNMs. Also, add BCNMs please? ;D
From a console based FF -> FFVII, and it's godly materia combos such as Added Effect + Death. Simliar stuff would be nice.
Favorite FF: FFVII
Although FFVII is my fave, I don't have anything I'd bring over from it. But I do like how money was gained in FFXI and FFXIII, through farming item drops from mobs, and that's how it should've been in FFXIV as well. Collecting money from leves makes the gil worth less and less every time a leve is completed because money is continuously added to the economy instead of traded among players like it should be and is in FFXI, and even in WoW. Sorry if this topic has already been brought up.
Edit: Yay I'm first post on page 6 lol!
1. FFX
2. Deep storyline with characters that I care about
Favorite FF?
-I like too many different features from a few of the games to be able to choose one.
What to put in?
-Something like Memoria from FFIX as a dungeon. We have these Echo powers that let us see a person's past events, how about some jumbled up side effect of this feature to create another realm out of it? Make it happen!
Favorite FF: FFXI
What I Liked:
-Equipment based Abilities: Before finding out how the armory system worked I thought that player abilities would be based off their equipment, Which is very similar to the FF tactics of learning abilities from weapons. Unfortunately there is already a system for abilities and thus it is not likely to be implemented.
-A job system: I enjoyed the job system of many of the FF games, and approve of the actions SE is taking to help define character roles. However I do feel that simply adding the Jobs in with classes is a hack solution, and wish that SE would take more time and consider other options. Jobs should be the overall role of the player at the time, not dependent on what weapon they're using.
-GFs from FFVIII: Made the game alot of fun and could be implemented later in the development process. Could be extremely awesome if implemented correctly.
-Materia from FFVII: I really enjoyed the support materia and linking materia for different effects. We will see how well the materia system for FFXIV turns out, which I am very excited for.
The Party Build System from FFXI: While reverse party making may work at times, searching for people to start up a spontaneous party was much easier in FFXI. It might go a fair way in introducing newcomers to those with experience.
An involving storyline: From all FFs. All FFs have had interesting storyline, and I'm looking forward to what will be added by SE.
Same jobs, with countless differences concerning gameplay, story, etc. ;)
Like I said, reference is okay, but not "throw everything I ever liked about any FF game together and think something good will be the result!"
Because it wouldn't be.
1. FF-Tactics: Job system
2. FF8: Triple triad
3. FF12: Mark Board
To name a select few.
i would say chocobo racing from ff7. job system from ff tactics and the card game from ff9.
I never learned exactly how to play Tetra Master because of the weird notation on the cards and everyone in the game refusing to say what X000 meant. I'm sure if they changed the notation and gave real instructions it'd be more popular >.>
I wanna become a pld like Cecil did on FF 4 it was epic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqaNUnCwnxY
Favorite FF : Changes every month usually between 7,8,9,4,10
2. Things to actually do?
i loved ffix,
And btw, why did they add parley? a tacticless game dominated by randomness that doesn't need ANY type of skill or thinking or whatever...when they had TetraMaster?
my fave FF games are 7,8,11, and tatics. if you roll them all into one thats what i would add
1. Armor and weapons from FF7
2. Card game from FF8
3. Party system from FF11
4. Jobs from tatics
5. Summons were ok in 11 but i would go with 7 or 8
6. No sphere grid if anything, ap like in 7
7. Personal Air Ships like in 7 or 8
8. AH like in 11
9. Chocobo catching like in 7 then start breading like in 11
10. Limit Break like in 7
i could go on forever but i think you get the point.
Final Fantasy 14's own gold saucer would be hilarious. I really liked learning certain skills from weapons in 9 also its card game:).
FFXI - I want bluemage from this, because that job is a quest in it's self
FF4
It's the first game I remember playing and telling myself in my head, "this game is freaking awesome." It just had a great story. The betrayal by kain, Cecil's dark past redeemed, the spoony bard angering Tellum, etc. It was just a great game with an interesting story. So many characters with their own motives and purpose. I could go on forever about 4, but i'll leave it at that.
FFXI - Fields of Valor. It was always a nice little boost to exp in XI, so I hope it returns in FFXIV.
Favourite? XIII.
One I want stuff from?
Final Fantasy Tactics
Stuff I'd like to see lifted from it:
- Companies (as in, having companies work similarly to how they do in Ivalice; player-groups competing for contracts and such)
- Setting (or at least, I'd enjoy an MMO set on Ivalice anyway, much as I like Eorzea)
Golden Saucer is a popular idea. But how would they make it fit with the game lore? Arcades don't seem to fit into FFXIV's technology scheme, though I'm sure Garlea has the ability. Just doesn't fit well.
So how would the arcade fit? or would they replace it with something else and if so, what?
Favourite: FFVI
Want everything. This game is just the best FF I ever made:o the characters, the battle system, the story, everyting is perfect!
FF11
Lv50 mobs who could kill Lv75 players if the player wasn't on his toes when running through a zone.
Well, technically SE's already done it for the most part with XI...
XI is largely based off 1~3 & 5. Though there are jobs from 5 that never made it in much to my chagrin, including my all-time favorite Mystic Knight, I don't really know what they could pull from the other games that would be appropriate. XI is still currently my favorite in the series, but I'm also still playing it and don't really want a 2nd iteration of it in XIV - I want XIV to be different.
The Dragoon's Wyvern would be nice though if DRG is ever brought back. I just can't imagine the class without it anymore.
FFV isn't my favorite in the series, but I would love to see Spellblade come back. I feel as though XI really half-assed it with Enspells for RDM, and with the way abilities work in XIV they could probably make the class work this time around.
There's nothing more satisfying than casting Holy/Flare on your sword and swinging at mobs with the spell XD
XI
The setting quality mostly. Vana'diel has some awesome lore, zones, and characters. 99% of this lore is available IN-GAME and not just a wall of text post on the main website.
lol XD
1.FFXI
2.A better MMO
....ffxiv is on its way though
I'll make a full list too.
I: nunchuks
II: character progression without experience points
III: jobs system
IV: the world, the moon, underground
V: gilgamesh
VI: story, music, villain
VII: chocobo breeding, gold saucer
VIII: space, an awesome city like Esthar
IX: monkey-boys
X: rikku's wetsuit
XI: community
XII: world (I've wanted an Ivalice MMO for awhile now)
XIII: voice acting (more of it)
I have two favorites.
1. FFT
2. Job system
1. FFVIII
2. Triple Triad
FFVII:
1) The golden saucer. More specifically the battle arena and chocobo racing.
2) The chocobo raising / breeding system. Allow players to be able to raise more than one at a time and that they don't take rl months to raise one.
