yeah this is pathetic.. how long could it possibly take to fix what went wrong? so far we are on about what 20 hours of maintenance for this nonsense? lol.. what does square even do with all our money? if this game wasnt so amazing i wouldn't even think about staying with all this technical dicking around happening.... and then square enix is just like "whoops! sorry guys!"..... really tired of this crap. like they want people to buy/play their games... but they turn around with sillyness like this. maybe if they atleast seemed like they gave two sh*ts about the fact they are messing up hard and really pissing alot of people off it wouldnt be so bad.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Judging by the lack of notice for the emergency maintenance, some game-breaking glitch must have surfaced, most likely. If they were to announce said glitch publicly before taking down the servers on the maintenance notice, it would give a lot of people the adequate amount time to abuse and/or test this glitch themselves.

You're honestly complaining about emergency maintenance (that will hopefully fix the issue) that was needed because people all across many worlds in different parts of the world (North America and Japan, maybe more) were getting kicked constantly from every instance they tried to enter?

There are numerous reasons for them having this sudden maintenance, if someone was found hacking the servers, they would have to be shut down immediately or even a serious game-breaking bug was found, or perhaps someone has been found massively exploiting something which will affect game balance. It's obvious this is a very serious issue to push maintenance this suddenly. If they could have waited and given notice they would have done (like they always do).

On topic... We are talking about something that was announced 30 mins ago.... They probably had to shut it down as quick as possible for some reason, and to require them to explain it already, is just ridiculous.... We will know soon

This is a common problem among MMO developers sadly. While yes it is good that they do maintenance to solves issues, however some of those maintenance's can be eliminated by proper code development and testing. This is a common process that has seemed to elude every MMO developer, thus you end up with emergency maintenance a few hours after a scheduled maintenance. In a F2P environment this would be perfectly okay as your not actually paying to play the game itself rather then purchasing digital goods from its in game item store (if it has one), but in a P2P environment this generally isn't acceptable as you're are providing a service which people must pay a monthly fee for, and as with any service based company they must deliver the level of service that is laid out in the contract or agreement. If you feel you're not getting that level of service then I would suggest you read your agreement with Square Enix.

i was expecting this more than anyone, they underestimated how many ps4 people would be playing, so i knew for sure this would happen. Ps4 is the number one console in the world right now, and you give all users free beta access. Its as easy as 2 + 2........

Maybe they thought we we're bored and needed to vent so it was time for another epic long anger fest thread. They care... Nothing is happening.. they are just drinking sake and laughing at us.

People say SE should stop calling it emergency Maintenance when they plan it ahead and if it truly was an emergency it would be announced just before it happens.

While the beta is using a dedicated world server, seems they are using the same instance servers as the rest of us. At least, that's my guess considering how hard it was hit on Monday after the restrictions were reset, much harder than it has been in weeks prior.

I to cancel all things today just to catch up on XIV seeing as how there was already maintenance done a few hours ago. I try to log on all excited and RAAAAAAGGGGEEEEE.

The sarcastic responses are unessecary, OP is correct. some of the most veteran players on my server have completely vansihed over the last 2 months, poof gone, sick of the server issues. Every single day with server issues. I love the game , but again heres a day off where i log in when i wake up "all right!" and bam, yay i can't play untill 4 pm. I'm getting sick of this myself. It's never going to stop with this game huh?

If this affects me, I hope it is back up on time... I have extra time to play today.

some of us actually dont have anything else to do... i dont have a social life, i just play video games all the time, this is my life, this is why i pay to play this game. i understand sometimes technical difficulties happen, but this is definitely pushing it. why come here just to bitch about the fact that we're bitching? if you have so much other stuff to do then go do it? why are you here on the forums trying to talk down on us like we dont pay for a service and they are fucking up our service big time? lol.

Since we don't know the reason behind the sudden emergency maintenance, perhaps we should hold off for now. For all we know, RMTs created some sort of keystroke logger or something or implemented a way to steal your account. Or maybe, SE fired some dude and he broke a server with a hammer on the way out. Or maybe, it's just SE's failure to properly implement previous patch? We don't know. it's all speculation. whatever it is, though, it warranted immediate action.

regardless, a little transparency (at least post maint) would be nice.

FFXIV ARR hasn't been out for 416 days, so there certainly hasn't been back to back maint that lasted that long.
