market on hyperion has a couple sold at 200k this morning

Trying again, this time with more baits over 400 plus food. I melded a bunch of stuff too.. I made extra items in case I spiritbound the rings, so I'll meld in the spot! Hopefully I'll get it this time :(

Caught mine today. It didn't take me very long actually. Maybe a little over an hour. Caught lots of sharks, then just got lucky.

lol I got a HQ wahoo and THE VERY NEXT SECOND it starts raining. I hate this game so much. lol

I'm glad I caught this by accident while farming Silver Sharks there back in 2.0 and kept it :P

undercutters are just destroying the market for these

some sold for 300k, now they are doing a back and forth battle lowering it over and over all day long down to 85k right now

the effort and difficulty to get them should reflect in the price. look at tonberry, staying strong at 230~k still

I put mine at 200k at first, and no one bit. I lowered it down to 100k and both of the ones I had up sold within 12 hours. Now there's two other people selling them for 100k, and I feel like that is the right price for this fish on our server, so hey, we'll see how long the good times last.

been selling for 80-90k on my server. man! shoulda bought them out when i saw them for 5-8k...... fml.

yeah, for the longest time i'd see people buy them on the market dirt cheap, same with saucer fish. need to stock up!

The Level 50 fisher quest is totally out of proportion imo. There is no other quest in the Game that takes that long. Hell, people got their Atma FATES together more quickly than most fishers got their stupid quest fish. I had about 30 chances to get that fish so far and in the end I always got a silver shark. I give it a few days more, reserving 30 minutes each day and if I still get nothing, I am going to scratch that quest and just buy the item half a Year later when prices have come down. Nothing wrong with rare but ridiculous rare is just annoying.

I still had my sawfish from completing my log. On patch morning I sold that bastard for ONE MILLION GIL. I wish I had priced it higher, anyone with that kinda money would probably have paid more lol. And no, not a legacy server. Adamantoise. It's still in the market sale history for those who don't believe me.

it's crazy that people pay that much just to be the very first one.........to complete a small insignificant quest lol i mean just wait a day or so when the market gets filled with more fish from people going out and the prices drop rapidly

This fish is the Atma drop of gathering classes. :mad:

Exactly..it is a nice change from doing fates without getting ATMA to fishing and never getting the fish you want. Oh wait, no it is not a nice change lol.

If it would be ATMA style it would be OK (thought I would never said something like this lol) but this RNG fish is even worse. I did not need 500 fates for an Atma. It took 3-100 which is already too much in my book but this fish? I use floating minnow now but burned over 500 of the per quest recommended baits already. And still nothing for a side quest? I did Hildibrand, all side quests including Vanity and crafting, story quests and the beginning quests for the tribes in much lesser time than this one. If there are fishers out there who find it challenging to go for the double mooches, they can have fun with it. But if you make a side quest, please raise the drop chance for the quest fish. It doesn't need to be handed out directly but it should be limited somehow. Like improving drop chance after each unsuccessful attempt.

I have already stopped doing it seriously. I fish as much fish and HQ as I need for the Agenda and will wait till I can get ahold of the new items and then I maybe try again. Or just buy it after 2.3 when nobody cares anymore and it's cheap.

Price for most annoying side quest in the entire Game -> we have a winner here.

Although I agree with your discontent with the Atma fates, fishing is a class of patience. It's not rewarding if all you see the quest as is a waste of time. The reward comes from the time you put in by the time you catch the fish. Seriously, if you think Titanic Sawfish is bad, I wouldn't recommend the rest of Big Fishing (most of which haven't even been figured out yet). You may be better off just taking your time on Big Fish until everyone has everything figured out 100%.

LOL - Titanic Sawfish is nothing comparing to FFXI Ebisu Fishing Rod quest. http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Indomitable_Spirit - Titanic Sawfish comparing to that is a walk in a park :)

I spent 23 hours trying to catch this stupid fish. Then I realized, that in those 23 hours, I could of made more then enough gil to buy it several times over crafting 3 star HQ and selling it.
so I went and bought it off the marketboard for 120k instead and went back to crafting.

Just thought I could catch one to see if could sell it for a good price. Took 4 hours to catch and sold it at 100k. :)

Weird tip: When I caught it, my fisherman got up, even if she was sitting near the cliff. It never happened before, so I guess this is the weird cue we've been looking for.

It happens when you fish up Mahi and Silver Sovereigns too, I suppose it makes the catch a little more epic.

Yep. All big fish have a special animation and vibration if you have a controller.

I got gathering to 300 and perception to 268 and have been trying to catch this sine the Maelstrom patch. I have gone through 100's of lugworms. I see you said try pillbug so I'm onw to cape Westin now. Wish me luck

I don't understand, Is the Merlthor goby a lvl 50 fish???? because i'm lvl 50 with 255 perception and i'm only getting HQ in 5% of those i catch. So it's kinda hard to get Wahoo HQ and then to try get titanic...

They are 275k on my server..... (currently 7 on MB)

I finally got it last week and to my surprise, the next fish you needed for the quest (dunno the english name) was mine after merely an hour of fishing. The fisher quest was the only one I had in my quest log as active since the 1st day of 2.2 lol.

About 3 weeks of work but I finally caught this sneaky bastard

honestly i think that you should only be able to catch HQ silver sharks off HQ wahoos. simply because the HQ wahoo is bigger then the NQ silver shark. what do they do, take some HQ wahoo home in a doggy bag for their wife and kids. surely they arn't eating more then their own damned weight.
