Why tanks try to rip threat from each other...

I've joked about this before, but people who tank have attention-seeking issues. So multiple tanks fighting over the mob's attention isn't surprising. >.>;
Well were usually used to being solo or maybe 1 other one with clearly defined rolls.
CT is spam fest. Also you get a lot of people that want to look hot, and the second I hit Rage of halone, even with a 6 second lead, I steal aggro.
I had a guy so bad, I stole aggro and tanked Acheron in sword oath no problems. And hes accusing me of using provoke. I said go ahead and provoke it back and i will provoke it again to prove I didnt the first time.
What makes me sick is the Behemoth fight as all too often you get tanks wussing out and fighting over towers.
Towers are a snooze. I dont know who would want to do that over anything.
Once I was on NW whacking behemoth to Riot blade mp so I could keep stone skinning, no need for a healer to bother with me.
Another tank runs over to my tower. I said WTF? he said you werent on it. I had a big argument over this as what were you doing that you were available to pick up an "abandoned" tower I was 5 feet from?
Oh turns out he was on giants. tower with a tank 5 ft away > Vin diesel/Iron Giant.
Or how everyone stands there for 4 minutes not talking and I have to just go over and whack the behemoth. simple fight, yet they mess it up.
Blaming a teammate for horrible comet placement and wiping the group. Then why were me and him still alive? not my fault they ran behind a dead bomb thinking it was a comet...
I love the Archeron fight for precisely this reason. Hate battles are fun. Especially if someone else calls "MT" :)
I'll always warn my team that I'm about to switch to DPS accessories and to expect me to pull and keep aggro within a few seconds of running in though.
In most cases the only time I'll have someone else rip hate from me for more than a second or two if they use provoke and then immediately activate a DPS buff whenever my "Fight or Flight" is on cooldown.
Funsies! :D
I usually don't MT in CT, mostly cause I'm lazy lol, but when I have I've never lost hate to another tank. Also, I don't get the shyness of MTing Behemoth, there's one small conal to dodge. Honestly he's the easiest one of the bosses to MT. Dragon has a fear conal that's a lot bigger area wise. Thenalan(sp?) has a knockback and he pulls the pots to him so you gotta make sure he does swipe those or get knockback into a pot (which for some reason I see happen way more often than I should). Archeron has a ton of colorful aoe's you have to move for (not that it's hard or anything). So for behemoth...tiny thin conal if you have him positioned in a corner..and meteor...
Behemoth has two abilities you need to watch out for - the red indicator cone (dodge it) and the instant cast knockback attack (Wild Horn?) - Ideally you want to have a Stoneskin up (or at least a mitigation cooldown) for the knockback attack. Healers can be a bit slow to react in CT, and it's by far his heaviest spike damage regular ability. It always comes in the rotation a few seconds after the magic attack (Thunderbolt?) - so you can precast a Stoneskin for each one if you're careful.
The Giant has set spawn locations (NORTH --> EAST --> SOUTH, resets after each roar) and really just needs tanked to the far East for consistencies sake with Behemoth held to the far north.
I usually default to the NE tower tank in CT when not tanking the giant tho, just so I can pick up for either MT or OT if need be as well as cover a second tower.
I had a hilarious encounter yesterday in CT, all through the fight tanks were fighting over skeletons, fighting over everything really.
When we get to behemoth, one PLD declares he is mt. Another on giants, and a third one specifically says he will take over if mt dies.
So 20 secs through the fight mt does die( he was taking all aoes). And behe goes straight to dps and healers, 2 die, I'm waiting for the dude to pull him but he is just looking, so I leave my tower and aggro behe and tank him, things go ok, then at middle of fight I find him voking the boss whilst he is in the mix in and amongst the dps lol, so behe turns around and starts rampaging all around the area as healers get aggro here and there. The PLD is running around spamming flash.. No enmity combo rotations. Anyway I pull him back and we manage to end the fight but just barely. My point here is if this guy isn't trolling, he must be the stupidest tank I've seen, no understanding of basic tank mechanics.
Just as a PSA, besides the very first pickup, I've found that the knockback happens on rotation after the *second* lightning bolt attack. I think the very first one on pickup might be after the third, I forget. I always use IB for it.
I usually volunteer giants when I go tank though, its usually the #1 cause of wipes to have a bad giant tank. The 2nd and 3rd literally don't move from spawn when I tank.. its really simple and saves a lot of stress, and healers from raid. Much better then button pushing also.. cause you can just pew pew on KB after. :)
