Good question. Is it me or does the most memorable image from XIV (that's not in the game mind you) also look like it's from SE's stock renders of the most generic landscapes.
Sure it looks good but FF vistas have always looked AMAZING since VII. It's basically just a waterfall nothing over the top or unforgettable about it like Shinra building, stone forest, Fisherman's Horizon or the Zanarkad Road or Teleport Holla. Did Akihiko Yoshida (as much as I have a total man-crush on him) explicitly forbid the use of imagination in the scenery?
His characters are always GORGEOUS but the landscapes often seem to lack variety or color. Vagrant Story anyone?
We don't actually know whether that's olde mor dhona or whatever, but I'd absolutely love a zone like that to be in the gam/e. Lots of forest (not the tunnel-filled FFXI kind, a large, open forest) and lakes with that huge waterfall.
Would be amazing if we actually get it in the future, maybe surrounding Ala Mhigo or the zone to the northwest.
Someone recreated it with (I think?) Crysis 2's map creator, and it looked absolutely amazing albeit a bit beyond what we'd get on FFXIV itself. I'll try and find it.
it's Mor Dhana when the empire came and one of Wyvern came and attack the ship i bet the wyvern was send by bahamut :) it be a fun lore for sure.
I don't think it is considering the layout is so different, mor dhona has a lot more crystal structures and they're more spikey and sharded.
I do think it'd be a shame if we never get to visit that zone.
It's gettin' breezy in here...
it is 100% Mor Dhona how can you dispute it lol. The Warship + Dragon wrapped around the ship fell into an Aetheryte Field. The explosion/destruction from the crash most likely terraformed the area to look completely different. Present day Mor Dhona has the Warship + Fossilized Dragon coiled around it. It's kind of hard not to just put 2 + 2 together.
It wouldn't look that nice in the game anyway.
woops double post
well the 3 adventurers are there but did you see the size of that ship? and it was an epic battle it could have been seen from miles away
Actually I think it is Mor Dhona, well Silvertear Falls which is just South West of Mor Dhona and we can not access it yet. If you watch the vid at the 5 minute mark a shot pans from the 3 adventurers on the ground and the battle is somewhat above them.
Check it out I'll link the vid:

All I know is, that Levequests blows Dunesfolk For Dinner out of the water
the Adventurers guild has clearly been holding out on us....
You've actually stumbled on to the secret to fix this game
To SE: When the game is as exciting and entertaining as this video, then its time to release on PS3 and start charging
please i started this thread to discuss Lore and stuff, dont start turning it into a "bashing the SE thread". we have 7 nice pages dont start now!!
Yes its Mor Dhona
Alexia, I am inclined to somewhat agree with you but looking at the team underneath the battle it is close but not right over top. The area the leve takes place is close to mor dhona but not right in the region. The fight however obviously is in mor dhona.
Like a connecting area we cannot access just yet.
None the less that is an awesome view and I would like more like it.
It kind of looks like Kazham--and if it's anything like Kazham, then it already exists; it's just that no one has fallen through the right 6 holes in the proper order to get there yet...
i just want to be able to stand on the edge and craft in front of that view, play some pink floyd and chill
All you have to do is look at the world map. Silvertear is practically a mile away from the crash site in Mor Dhona. The fight is going on above them, but it's not directly above them. If you were at the edge of the falls though, it would seem very close.
That brings up an interesting topic... has anyone found a spot that was obviously put in the game as a 'scenic view' point yet?
i think fishing @ la noscea is very nice specially at dawn or dusk
then silverleaf falls it is!,
now.. will there be.. tonberries there!!!??!!! or mandragoras
Why were garleans fighting dragons in the first place? i thought ishgard was fighting the dragons?
