Well, even Ifrit's Enkindle is a debatable trade-off. Ifrit's Enkindle ability does a 200 potency attack in a cone aoe (with a 20 potency/tic DoT over 15 seconds), so it can be tricky to ensure that all enemies are hit by it. Garuda's Enkindle does a 250 potency attack in an aoe around the target, making it MUCH easier to hit everything - just pick a mob at the center of the pack, and fire!
Ifrit's Enkindle's DoT does mean that the attack does a fair bit more damage to the enemies that are hit (assuming the DoT runs its full course), so if you're good at lining him up it IS the better Enkindle. The conal nature of the attack is a pretty serious drawback, though.
In open world content, no one cares what Egi you use. This thread is pretty much purely about SMNs who bring out Titan-egi in dungeons.
