Why do people care so much about my gear level in pre-lvl50 dungeons?

Yeah, I hear pre-50 instances are terribly hard- they certainly aren't for learning the game or anything.

Probably best to just act like an "elitist" jerk in a leveling instance to get them ready for dealing with people like you in post 50 instances.

It's a by-product of an incredibly easy game. Anyone can do anything, so if someone has something nicer than you it's an excuse for them to be jerks.

It's the "Eric Cartman" effect. Game is full of them.

OP has multiple level 50 jobs, there is no excuse to not be appropriately geared when running dungeons. Between GC items and gear that you obtain while progressing through dungeons it should be a none issue.

I can understand if this was his first character and struggling to obtain gear through Dungeons etc.

And that's the exact reason for my attitude towards this topic as well.
If it was a guy on his first class/job learning the game, heck I'd make or buy the gear for him if he were someone from my server and give him a few pointers on how to make his own money too.

But several things ticked me off about him, enough to make me take a look at his char on the Lodestone and go; Hell no, bro. You're either shitting us or are incredibly dense and lazy.

What I said was very harsh and not really how I feel. In early dungeons I have no issues with this stuff but later by AV don't be the gimp that can't help your pt kill the seeds in time. I'm not trying to be elitist or anything, I don't expect hq gear or gear with melds but don't bring your ilvl 35 into AV. Three lvl 18 accessories can drop you from ilvl 45 to 38. Is that horrible? Nah. Can it wipe your group? I doubt it, 3 people out of 4 like that can.

I don't mean to hate but this is a practice you can't ignore because 1 gimp being told ok means it's ok for everyone to half ass gear. Oh, and op has the worst attitude of " don't like my gear? Pay me to be better." Straight trash.

He looks to have swapped to GLD now so you can't see what he had on if you searched for his character, but I'll just recite it from memory. His belt, neck, ears, ring, ring, and wrist slots were all I believe below level 20 on a level 48 character, the ear was a quest one from Ul'Dah that is worthless and one ring slot was actually empty. His weapon was a level 29 white item as well.

I kind of doubt he was mocked for having a poor neck slot alone. Oh and he was a WHM, so the lack of all those slots being anywhere near appropriate was probably quite obvious in the instance.

I can agree more with your sentiment here. Ideally everyone should be working toward some kind of improvement. The OP does kind of have a bad attitude and probably could fix his problem in less time than it takes to make the posts defending it.

So the OP is lazy... but people do the same thing in 50 dungeons with SB gear....

Denver, I have less Level 50's then you do, and no high level Hand or Land jobs (Highest craft is my Carpenter at 20, and Gatherer is 11 Botanist) And I still manage to make money enough to keep my lower level jobs caught up.

In an Example: I'm also leveling my WHM at the moment - And will admit to slacking a tad on gear (I'm 48 and don't feel like upgrading my level 39 accessories [Rings, ear, etc] at level since at 50, I have carryover gear from SCH.) But, Weapon is always kept somewhat up to date, along with primary gear, as that severely impacts the party in that If my gear and weapon are crap, my Party is dead.

Using your Current job, the 22 THM you are leveling, let's compare your gear to that of my 26 THM for a rough example again...

And with my current gear, at level 26 my Average iLv. is only 19. I spent maybe around 5000 Gil to buy all my whites - including the pieces that were later replaces and swapped out with pinks and greens. For a level 50 character like me, that is two, two and a half dungeons max, and that's while I save up the Philo to gear up my next job to 50 instead of buying Philo Mats and selling them on the boards for more profit even.

If you could put in even the minimal effort as I did and showed above - then most people would not be against you, as you seem to be thinking.

And by the way? I have a current budget of only 41,283 gil right now as I post this - I was at 35K just a bit ago, but I ran a few instances and made money while working on gearing my main.

One day leveling my DRG i found a PLD in Aurum vale 2200hp, gear lvl 18, not vitality just str and dex. I had 2400hp. The first toad jumped and instant kill him.

I remember:

Report Harassement: "If you are being harassed by another player, whether it be verbally or play-related, submit your claim here.

A tank who only hold aggro over one mob and the others focus to the healer. A tank who don't have gear or it's not tank gear; i consider like a harassement over me and my partners. In this case, i votekick them.

Sounds like you make excuses more than finding a solution for yourself

It's kind of a bit of courtesy. It's the same reason people get booted from Primal groups if they lag / get hit / die early. It's a drag on everyone else, it makes it take longer, or it just plum doesn't succeed.

To be fair; Just keep your weapon updated within a few levels of you, and armor should drop a plenty in dungeons. There's no excuse to be using a weapon that's 10-15 levels under you. The Grand Company alone takes care of you all the way to 44.

I for 1 don't care too much about gear under level 50 as long as its kept within 10-15 levels. But 1 important fact is if you want to make money, to should keep your gear at the best tier of materia converting that you can possibly have it at. Buying whites is cheap... Buy them, convert them to materia, profit... From leveling... What's that mean, if your doing arum vale, you can wear lvl 45 accessories, those convert into tier 3 and 4 materia!!! Who cares about the 2k it costs to buy that ring, when you can convert it into like 30k???

I don't understand the logic of someone who's poor, and tries NOT to make free money???

OP, just complete your hunting log for GC currency, do somes fate & get what you need from your GCompany, /thread
