For referance, the Crystal Tower area was on the map in 2.0, but it was only opened up in 2.1
So with future patches and expansions, the world should get much larger.

There's a closed up area in Coerthas with Ixali guarding the gate, I hope it's the entrance to that dungeon because the location is pretty close to the one in this early 2.0 concept art and most of the stuff in the pic matches too.

Comparing the current Coerthas map with the 1.0 version map, that gate should lead through to Griffin's Crossing (the rather spectacular bridge over the gorge) and the Coerthas Southern Lowlands, which in 1.0 zoned into the North Shroud (it also had a hamlet called Owl's Nest - the place where the dummied out class Shepherd had it's locked Guildhall). So it's likely that gate will likewise lead there when that zone is finally added.
I might be off topic but i had an idea of a dungeon recently.
The entrance would be at the black brush station in central thanalan and the whole dungeon would be in the phantom train and you have to reach the first wagon of the train and defeat the phantom train (maybe make use of our phoenix downs we get in the later quests to do more damage to the train that would be cool). I don't have any idea how they could put it in the story or anything, it was an idea like many that i came up with :)
At the end of Copperbell Mines in the boss room there's a set of broken doors. Would be nice if there was an underground citadel or some subterranean prison lying beyond we could explore as Copperbell: Citadel/Prison. Maybe the home of the Gigas or at least a stronghold.
Seems like this is happening if the next Live Letter info is to be believed: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...56ecb3b0f22c34

Catch a glimpse of the Ruins of Amdapor*, where players will delve deeper into the mysteries of this lost civilization.
* Dungeon name is subject to change.
Yes
here you can compare the central highlands from ARR with the central highlands from 1.0

Also a glacier is now blocking the street to the western highlands. Maybe we need to defeat Shiva to get behind it.
I dont care what they do
But they better not EVER release a dungeon that doesn't have either the 1.0 dynamic music playing or its own dynamic music playing like Crystal Tower.
I can never go back.
Great there adding Ruins of Amdapor but looking forward to The Garlor's Lair info.
Every beast tribe's stronghold has a gated off location that is currently inaccessible. I think these are great possibilities for future dungeons.
I'm glad you guys are so interested in speculating on new content for Patch 2.2!
If you haven't already, be sure to check out our question submission threads for the upcoming PLL. Your queries regarding new dungeons just might be answered!
Agreed, I'm looking forward to this one, and I'd guess the best tribes could have their own as well. I wonder if there would be any interest in any more of the dungeons being 8 man over 4 man. That or I wonder if they will make a hard mode for an existing dungeon an 8 man. Just some thoughts. :)
Why dont you guys tell us what you want to tell us. Why bother not answering the questions we want to know. Dont really need a live letter. Just give us detailed letter with pictures and video and mile long text. If you do make a video make sure it has sub titles for other people to enjoy. I stopped watching the live letters cus its 7am and its all in japaness and the video is never up right away later on in the day by SE.
This truly is an irritating thing isn't it? They put so much work and effort into there live letters and only about a third (?) of there potential subscription base will even understand. I really wish they would do live translations. Have two feeds going out, one with Japanese audio, and one with a translation over the audio.
Well i doubt we will see it in 2.2 but there are a few more potential locations for dungeons such as:
Central Thanalan
Sil'dih Excavation Site
Eastern Thanalan
The sea of spires
The invisible city (might be related to Sil'dih)
High Bridge (The ruins on the cliff side might be part of the invisible city)
Northern Thanalan
Abandoned Amalj'aa mythril
Old Gridiana
Black Boar Gate (Could be a new area all together and open similar to white wolf but could be a dungeon in of itself)
Middle La Noscea
Woad Whisper Canyon/The Descend
Nym River Skylife
Outwe La Noscea
Floating city of nym
And there are many more landmarks that just don't have specific gates stopping us to getting to them like Iron Lake where its a mountain so they could open it up later. But the map was very well designed to allow expansion without needing to add significant chances to the normal travel routes to get there.
Also on the Castrums that were attacked were one adventurers couldn't directly visit Marinum we went there to
SPOILER
Assassinate Rhitahtyn sas Arvina, but the outpost is still here we just disable to bridge to it. If anything we trapped them there from land but they would still be able to airship and sail in and out. So it wouldn't be a stretch to say there are still troops inside so really any reason could get us to dive in a crash the gates.
Same on the Castrums;
I would have to check the cutscenes again, but I don't think it was said they were destroyed. They were attacked, but if anything I believe they were badly damaged and not destroyed.
The only reason to attack them was to stop any re-enforcements so that we wouldn't have to deal with those while infiltrating CM. So the GCs only had to keep them busy and/or block their travel routes. I think they specifically aimed for the train line as well? That, and winning a battle doesn't have to mean ''wiping the enemy of the face of the planet''. After all, ALL of the outposts that we infiltrated are still there. The Empire took a heavy blow, but it is far from defeated.
That said, I'm not sure I want all (or any) of them to turn into dungeons. They would have to come up with pretty creative mechanics to keep them from becoming too alike.
Lots of areas to expand to. Wyatnof that monolith structure in north shroud right before entering coerthas?
