Come back for Free weekend to find 3 million gil gone. Not happy

My only question is why there is nothing in any of the OP's posts about SE reaction to the issue. I would assume the FIRST thing one does when it appears you are missing 3 million gil is think your account was hacked and contact support. I would not jump right into SE stole my gil, so I am quitting. Contact support, get some answers. Flaming the company on open forums will not solve your problem.

Sorry this happened to you OP but as others have said, try to contact SE support and sort it out with them. It's the best chance you have of getting your gil back.

What the hell makes you even think SE took your money? Unless you bought from RMT sites, you most likely got hacked.

That's not true. Gil is still pretty nice to have for things like materias for starters. Some are like 100k+ currently. But sadly, that's all that is worth anything. I have botany @ 50 Weaver @ 50 and Armorer @ 50 and still can't make money unless i make 2 star items. Which i can't HQ often so it's not worth it. And it sure is easy to get gil now.... Just wait in any city and an RMT will send you a tell with their specials for the day. The last sentence was sarcasm, incase you didn't know. :p

Yeah i tried contacting them when i first noticed my gil was gone. Tired to call them but like i said they dont work on weekends. when i found the right place to put in a ticket i did, and still waiting on a reply back.

Srry so many of you swear if someone had all that gil that they cheated and used an RMT, just because you were so careless with your gil. I live on a very fixed income so i wouldnt have the money to spend on RMT, nor would i want to if i did have the money. RMT makes no sense to me as it ruins the point of playing the game to earn things. Lets face it this game hands out so much stuff to you, actually working for something yourself makes it that much more of an accomplishment.

To me the ones that always claim others are using RMT, are the ones trying to take the heat off themselves cuz they are doing it. Isnt that how this world works now a days? If you dont believe i made that gil legally, then thats on you. as i said not everyone cheats in games, and those that know me on the server and in my FC know im not that type of person to do something like that.

I'll prob log on a little today just to see if anything else is missing. Im assuming SE had to take the gil, because like others have said why would hackers leave any gil at all behind. Yeah i came here to vent, thats what forums are for. Forums arent just for all praise and happy talk.

i knew when i made this post i would get a ton of hate. lets face it thats all most of this current community is about it seems. Kinda miss the days of FFXI... seems like the community there wasnt as harsh as it is now. Then again i never had an issue like this happen on FFXI, and i played that game for 3 years straight.

Why? Well...

1) He's most likely lying and never had 3M gil saved. As someone else points out, it is 10x the quest rewards.
2) He's most likely lying and spent the gil before leaving.
3) His account was compromised due to his own RMT use, making it his own fault for being hacked.
4) His account was compromised because there's a keylogger on his PC, or he shared his password with his friend or his mom or his friend's mom, making it his own fault for being hacked.
5) His account was compromised through no fault of his own, because it's not like the game is 100% secure, you know SE is the last to admit to a hole or breach and may not even be aware of such, and targeting the company is far more lucrative for hackers than targeting individual users leading to such attacks becoming more common.

A compromise doesn't always mean they take everything. It could've been they took the 3mil and all his other gil then started farming with his character and got back up to whatever is on the account now. Then the time was up and they decided to not re up the sub and what was left on the account was negligible, by their standards. This happens all the time in WoW and EQ2 (and probably every other game where account compromises happen.)

Not accusing you of anything here, just pointing out the fact that even if you lived on the game 24/7 from early access to the time you quit the amount of gil acquired from the quest rewards, coin bags from dungeons and that saved from not teleporting still wouldn't add up to 3m+.

The most likely reasoning for your gil being significantly less is one of two options:

A) You spent it before you quit and just don't remember it

B) You somehow acquired RMT gil and it was seized

Lets recap.. The OP came back for the free weekend, noticed that all his money is gone, comes here to vent and to figure out why something like this could happen, aaaaand all the forum kiddies laugh then proceed to tell him to "Farm it back" or "Cya! lolxdbbq".

And you wonder why we have "Toxic Community" threads.

How about all you claiming i did RMT make a brand new chara! Play as a whm. ONLY take gear from quests till you can run dungeons. Once you can start running dungeons for your gear, ONLY take GIL from all quests that give gil as a reward option.

WHM as main, then play BLM, to gain the skills you need for WHM, then continue to lvl both those classes ONLY using gear you gain from dungeons. ALL quest rewards should be taking in GIL bags. Run the dungeons over and over. eventually start playing Arcanist. remember to save your gear cuz you will be using the same gear over and over for all 3 mage clases (4 when arcanst becomes summoner/scholar).


DO NOT take any other rewards besides GIL bags! keep doing this for 2 months+ everyday for at least 12+ hours a day. run dungeons over and over and over, run leve quests with your allowences for the first month, month and a half (regular leves not crafting ones). dont forget to sell all those gil bags you get from running dungeons non stop.

Oh yeah DO NOT spend money on teleports. If you need to get to LL from the mainland or back to the main land ONLY take the airships (which at that time for 200 each ride). again DO NOT spend money on teleports. use your MOUNT to get everywhere.

do all this and maybe you will understand how i stacked up all that gil. Oh and the reason i could play this game for 12+ hours everyday for 2 months+ straight.... im going thru cancer so all i can do is stay home.

You'll make like 500k gil off the main story picking the bags every time, if even that (I picked the bags almost every single quest my first 50). Even if you were spiritbonding random stuff in dungeons and spending every guildleve allowance on your way up I'd believe you'd made about 1.5 million at most, and even that's being generous.

And if you had any idea what you were talking about you'd know you'd have finished basically all of them because the main storyline sends you to almost every single town (I did every single sub-50 quest in the game by the way, there's barely any of them left over once you hit 50 your first job). Do you want to actually provide proof or are you going to posture like a cornered idiot who actually has nothing to stand on?

You keep bringing up the fact that you think all of the people responding to you don't have any gil and are jealous of what you claim to have acquired. That's not the issue. The issue here is that you're claiming to have acquired a significant amount of gil via a method that makes such a number impossible to reach based on what you have admitted to doing.

Main story and side-quests, taking gil rewards, dungeon coin pouches and random drops that get sold on market board/npc'd will not net you 3m+ unless you get VERY lucky with your drops (i.e. Coliseum gear, random spiritbonded materia, etc).

Also, don't get me wrong, I'm not implying that you bought RMT gil, but as other people have stated, if you sold things and people bought said things with RMT gil you're guilty by association and the gil gets seized.

Gil doesn't up and vanish. Something happened.

Either someone 'hacked' you and took it

A friend that knew your password took it since you stopped playing

As a matter of fact, I am sitting on lots of gil (at least, more than you have, or I guess in this case, "had"). That's because I gather and craft, and then sell it. If you had said you do those for your gil I wouldn't have doubted your story. Citing running quests for 3 million gil just makes anybody that knows what they're talking about know you're full of shit. Still seeing no proof for your story, by the way. it really is amazing how expensive teleporting gets....its like stopping by the store for a drink or a snack.....the next day doing it again...and again. it adds up. if only it weren't so dang convenient I'd stop teleporting everywhere and be rich. I have started waiting after chimera runs and similar instances for someone else to use a teleport and see if anyone goes where I'm going. Free teleports are the best.

how did u get 3 million with just questing and running around? :O 150k is about right the amount of gil u get from just questing 1-50.

Yeah, we all remember why people were suddenly reduced to 10% of their gil. It's because they received RMT gil.

In some people's cases it's because they were server first crafters on non-Legacy servers and received that gil second-hand through others who bought it. For them I have sympathy.

For the OP who appears to not realise that the combined gil rewards for all the quests in the game in November was approx ~500k and wants to convince us that he got 3 mill gil through questing and being thrifty I have no sympathy.

You bought gil. SE took it away. You came on the forums for sympathy/ranting, but instead found people that laugh at your BS.

My heart goes out to you.

Edit: As for leves, if we take an (optimistic) average gil payout of 500gil per leve, it would take 5,000 of them to make up the additional 2.5 mil. At 8 per day (and assuming OP never did any lower level ones) that would be 625 days.

You're honestly better off contacting Square Enix on this instead of sitting here making a lengthy thread about it.

You have 250k. That's still about 3x more than what I have, and I can live with my 80k. You'll live. Not like there's many useful things you can buy anyway.
