Just a warning, those Masamune players are all troublemakers.
There's all sorts of half naked shenangians and inappropriate goings on in that server. :p
i approve of this post. +1 from me
Yes please. Would help out the JP players too since English queues would be shorter.
well Even tonberry has its own troublemakers, not only masamune, many other servers too have that is norm.
There's always some bad apples in every settlements. Don't just stereotyping things easily. I played across 2 servers now, and believe me, it's actually easier to find jerks when they speak same language as yours rather than having to deal with diff. language which only left you wondering whether they're making fun of you or just being nice.
But all in all, every side has their own advantages & disadvantages. Every one of us just have to deal with it, or... bail out if you can't. Hopefully, it's not the latter.
need more supporters!
I'm gonna be off topic here. But just wanna say something about the JP ONLY thing that's irritating alot of people.
Imagine yourself as a japanese, that only speaks japanese, and can only converse/understand english at kindergarten level. How are you gonna communicate with non-japanese people besides saying hello, thank you, good bye.
It's the same for me. Sometimes, I use party finder, i would put "English speaking players please. Japanese that understand english is also welcomed." Maybe the sentence I put would "look" more polite, but it's generally the meaning of EN Only.
I'm from masamune and the JP Only in PF(party finder) is happening alot. it's understandable since it only comes up after more and more people doing extreme primals, and getting stuck in them. PF is finding random people to fill in the slots and go do the dungeon together. You cannot guarantee that the person joining knows what to do. so explaination is important for every roles.
So, please do not take it so seriously and get offended when you see JP only.
it's the same thing as japanese calling non-japanese 外人(gaijin). If you're chinese and can read the word. it's really kinda offensive. But it's actually a normal term for japanese to call other people than their own.
Back on topic, I'm kinda 1/2 1/2 on this. Yes I would of course like to really use the EN in DF to group up with people from Tonberry. But isn't it because the population is too big for these 2 server to be grouped together and the reason both world is split into different data center? I kinda remember the instance server kept crashing during the early months of FFXIV, and queues were really long wait due to all popular instance dungeons being full.
We need more support! :D
o/ Pretty sad now that most of the Party Finder has JP only nowadays,
During 2.0 I had the chance to join JP party and things do work out with a little bit of translation, Now by saying Hi!, you get booted out..
Wish I could join EU/NA servers but the latency is bad coming from S.E.A.
I wish we could have a dedicated (official) English Only server based in Japan
But for now joining DF with Tonberry seems good enough. considering that I have to queue for so long
+1 from me
Whao this thread is becoming on hell of a honey pot...
*taking down names of Lalafell and Miqo'te, in Masamune*
Regarding this.
In Chinese, 外人 (Wai Ren) means people from outside, not at all offensive. In Chinese usage, we use it normally to mean people not from our family, people not from our company, people not from our school, etc.. The really offensive word for foreigners in Chinese, is 洋鬼子.
For Japanese, however, 外人 (Gaijin) is sometimes used with a negative connotation, and some Japanese people will tell you it is derogatory, so much so, that they prefer to say 外国人 (Gaikokujin), literally "foreigner" instead. Most Japanese, however, don't use it in the derogatory sense; as poipoy says above. Many expats in Japan also don't find it derogative and many call themselves Gaijin, too. It's more a topic of political correctness really.
Back on topic, Japanese people generally like to keep to their own, and putting Masamune and Tonberry in the same data center will most likely make a lot of Japanese players happy, too, in addition to making queues faster for the EN people on these two servers.
So I joined a party in Party Finder, and here's what happened next,

The Party Finder is really convenient for us SEA community of JP Datacenters. /sarcasm
If it is possible, it would be great. Faster DF would be most welcome.
Why can't they just give us a world of two in JP Data Center for non-Japanese players. All problems solved.
I support this too. There are times when one get home and just want go on a random df n make new friends or play together with other English speakers. Most of party finder also put jp only, so slthough a bunch of us can find party n such from the friends n fc we have, those newer players I often see are stuck. I help them time to time when I cone across them in shouts or passing by an area. But a df grouping these servers together would be great
This idea sounds good :)
But better get the servers some stress check if this is executed, don't want people crying here for lags later.
+1 /10chars
This sounds like a good idea.

I would pay to transfer to an English first server in Asia. Feeling abit like secondary rate citizen in my server. The amount of times my FFXIVAPPS translate Jap people going " Foreigner WWW oh no", is staggering.
I might play better then their fellow Japs, but anything wrong is the "Foreigner fault wwwww"....
Also LOVE OMG REALLY LOVE the "JP Only" text at is spammed across 75% and more of the PF. Really great work ....
Can Tiamat join?!?!
Maybe we should really petition for a world of our own, in a Asia/JP Data Center.
I am sure there is enough Eng Players to make up a world population, I hope.
Great idea L'anzce, I support ^_^
w = warai, literally means laughing.
we need moarrrrrrrr support!
i 100% support this suggestion..
This is very possible, and a great idea! lol
Plus SE will LOVE the money from the transfers everyone would pay... xDDD
On another note, if you guys joined DF with peolpe from the NA datacenter then you would more than likely have to connect to the NA datacenter for the duration of the instance (the instance server would be hosted in the NA datacenter), making once again your ping an issue, with lag and all that crap.
