I thought getting 50 in a day and a half on WHM was fast. Then again I have seen people with the gold mount 2-3 days ago.

I usually end up giving it to the tank, especially if it's a lowbie dungeon and everyone but the tank is in DL or higher, because it means they were able to keep hate despite not being as well geared. If the tank is also a 50, though, it goes to the healer or other DPS.

Like I said, I actually stopped when I saw the mounts picture, I would have finished since the 26th of december. Also, genuine people actually gave me those commendations (I just spammed the roulettes).

well there's a real cheap way to cheat the system to snuck in premade groups to commend each other like some peeps who really want that mount real bad and real fast. Not me though, i loathe such stuffs

Anybody who has tried that (or read the patch notes, or followed any information on it) would know that you can't commend anybody if you preform. If you ask for a commendation and I think you actually did well, I'll still give it to you. Nothing wrong with asking for something you think you deserve.

I'm surprised that in 5 pages nobody has mentioned that since the implementation of the commendation system there's been a surge of people who act insufferably saccharine in DF groups. It's always nice to be reminded that human kindness is usually based in self-interest.

I've actually not commended players who deserved one because they asked for one. It's a silly thing, reminding people to commend is one thing, but why beg? Is idling on that mount worth your pride?

You don't make a group. You just pick some random obscure guildhest late at night and all queue at once. Chances are the majority of you will get put into the same one.

...this, so very much this. I /eyeroll so much in duties now, and I never give a commendation to anyone who is clearly fishing. They're more likely to go to the guy who may have been mostly quiet but seemed genuine and polite all the same.

That said I wouldn't put down the system, it has made people and groups more pleasant whether they are genuine or not. Let's just hope they keep upping the rewards so that this continues.

Ok i rather chew on broken glass than beg for a commendation and do not care for the gold magitek, but i can see how a desperate dps would beg. I usually pt with a friend or 2 for a lot of things so i don't get to vote as much as i would like, but i try to vote dps when i can. If the tank or healer were exceptional maybe i do but usually not they are gonna get votes they always do. I know it's hard life tanks and healers and we derpy dps are just ur props, but we do kill things u know. The purpose of the dungeon is to.. kill things. So maybe once in a while vote a DPS, maybe the begging will end.

There seems to be some underlying unlegitness going on, you probably queued up a guildhest, and had your buddies do the same on a low level one.

Nobody is jealous of you. We just find it very funny that you were talking about not caring about commendations and then people find out through the lodestone that all you have left is to earn the gold magitek mount. Don't post such foolishness when it'll just backfire on you next time. Nobody will believe you at this point thanks to the lodestone.

I actually already answered to that one : I thought it was the white mount of castrum meridianum (which it isn't, that's why I stopped my farming once I got to 300). I don't really understand why you find that hard to believe. Also, it's also true that the barding is disappointing (it's only a one part barding, an ugly crown for your chocobo).

try doing the guildhest roulette as a tank some time...

you get 2-3 commendations every time.

every. single. time.

you might need to game the system if your only class is a dps or something, but tanks get flooded with commendations without even trying.

Well, the crowns of the chocobo pet, the crown you get and the one you get for your chocobo are all white. I really don't see why I'd make up excuses or why I'd stopped my farming to 300 if I still did care. But they say internet has its own logic.

Don't get me wrong : I feel really stupid on this matter but only because I farmed guildheist roulettes for hours only to discover the rewards were crap (and not because you noticed I did loads of guildheist or think I made up excuses).

Are people really doing this? *sigh* If I see it i'll activley not give them one, that's for sure.

I had originally thought the chocobo would look super awesome. Was really disappointed when it was -just- a crown. But I do like the golden magitek, it's super pretty. It's the only thing that made getting 500 worthwhile. Super easy and fast to get as well. Just be an awesome healer and everyone commends you.

I've been doing guildhest roulette on my BLM, and I almost always commend the other DPS. Guiildhests are so damn easy for all involved. people rarely shine there because they're just that easy. So I commend the dps since I know he/she probably doesn't get commendations that often. I'm not sure if other dps feel this way, but it seems I always leave with one myself.

Almost every group I am in I make an effort to award the person I feel did the best job, regardless of class. My criteria is based off my self-expectations:

Healers: buff and heal please. If you grab agro don't run all over the place. It makes it hard for your tank/dps to get it off you. Have a macro to let us know you are being hit.
Tanks: don't go charging off without waiting for your buffs. Grab agro and turn the mob. Adds happen, keep your eyes on the healer and if you have not told a dps to handle them then be prepared to.
DPS: stay out of stuff, don't try to grab agro from your tank, and help heals if they get attacked.

In addition, if someone has a God complex, or is just a complete arse they will not get a point regardless of how well they play. Nice people DO finish first in my book! Also, if someone is new and takes the time to ask for help and guidance then dern skippy I will consider them for a point if they play well and learn.

I wish people wouldn't leave the dungeons so fast. -_- When you do that, I can't give you a commendation. -_-

If someone begs for one, I do not give them one no matter what. If they ask nicely to remember the commendation system, without asking for one, that is fine by me. I agree Liaden people leave very quickly and I cannot give them one. Sometimes even before the last chest is given out. If everyone does their job, and I am on a low level roulette, I will tend to give it to a lower level person than a level 50. I do not have a preference of which role to give it to, partly because I can be on any role on any run, and partly because some roles can do their job very well without really standing out. I guess in short I don't follow any rule, I wing it on each run.

I have found that that if i go into a dungeon with most of a party and filling out the 4th spot (almost always for tank) I can't give commendations. So I always feel bad because I've had some really nice and friendly tanks who were fun to party with.

It beats the tank that was pretty mediocre on my friend's first Halatali run who rage quit after pulling the first mob rather poorly and also wiping. The tank just ragequitted.

But... from what I've been told by my more experienced friends, I can't commend them since I'm already in a premade group

First, I could careless about the commendation system and the fluff that is given with it. That said, you beg for a commendation and I just don't give it to you. Lately, I've just not been giving anyone commendations as there are more and more people asking for a minute or 2 before the run begins making their case for a commendation. It's just pretty gear that serves no purpose, what's the rush?

If it is 4 man, we can exchange commendation between tank and heal, and dps-dps. 8 man or more would be a bit more complicated, but most duty finder groups are 4 man except those primals and CT. Of course we can work out in 8 man too.

I always give mine to the DPS. I'm sick of the tank always getting the commendation. I've gone through a few guildhests as a +1 relic Bard with legit new players where the tank didn't bother doing anything and I just tanked as a bard. They still gave the commendation to the useless tank. For that reason I'll always give mine to the other DPS, or the healer if the other DPS is worthless.

If the tank deserves it I will give to him, however if the DPS is better they will get the commendation. I play BLM and SCH mostly and have a lower lvl CNJ and ARC i use for guildheist and lower lvl dungeons. Was shocked when I got one for BLM in CT. SCH or CNJ I am more likely to get commendations for although I don't play them for that reason. The only real complaint I have about the commendations is if I go in a dungeon in DF with a friend I can't give the other 2 people outside of my pre-made party. Implement something where we obviously can't vote for our friend or fc member but let us vote for the other 2 members. I had a really good tank who was running Qarn for the first time and he genuinely deserved a commendation and I couldn't give it to him

This, it hasn't happened to me either.

But in case it does; Beg for a commendation means you get none.

My simple rules for a commendation:
Tanks/Healers: Impress me! If you have not impressed me, as a DPS my vote defaults to the other DPS, if that DPS happens to be begging for one or manages to be an incredible moron then I press the cancel button and exit.

If you are continuously begging for one during a run then I will personally ask for a vote-kick, or leave.

I'm slowly closing in on the 100 commendation achievement. (Healer only here)

I've gotten them from low level duty, high level duty, main story duty and guildhest duty roulettes.
In some guildhests I've had to point out that unless people want to use the abandon duty option, they have to select someone for commendation in order for the guildhest to end faster. Haven't ever begged for, or seen anyone beg for commendations.

So far I've gotten everything from 0 to 4 commendations from a single duty.
I give my commendations to tanks, off-heal and dps depending on who I think did the best job. There is usually only one person that stands out from the rest from my point of view, so it's usually easy to select who gets the commendation. Make mistakes too often or don't play your class properly and chances of you getting a commendation from me goes down.

I have never had a single person beg for a commendation.

Just running the MS/LL/HL Roulette each day (No GH), once each, I've gotten around 60. I never ask for them, ever. I don't even mention them. I'll just thank everyone for the run, run over the the exit and wait until everyone else is running to it as well. So I at least know they had time to vote. As far as who I reward them to, normally, it's who ever stood out. For instance, if a Dragoon or Monk used the flank and back for their attacks, or if I see a bard using mana/tp song when needed, etc. Otherwise, if no one really stood out, I normally just give it to the healer if they were decent.

So because it has never happened to you, it automatically doesn't exist? You know what, then world hunger must be a myth because I'm never hungry. And that whole AIDS thing? Total myth because I don't have it and haven't met anyone with it, so it must not exist.

You not experiencing it does not mean people have not experienced it. Personally, I've seen it happening more frequently with people asking/begging for commendations at the beginning of the run.

I don't care how much a person begs for a commendation. You can beg for it all you want but unless you've earned it, I guess you'll just keep waiting for it.

I mean seriously, who would commend a bad player who didn't know how to play his or her job correctly?
