To each their own, but to me, it's kind of pointless gearing up if you're not interested in high level content.

remember, even if you maxed Myth tomes every week since the game released, you wouldn't be able to afford all myth gear in every slot, even on 1 job (not to mention other jobs).
I've been trying to motivate myself to keep running the same 4 dungeons every week to cap Myth but, after doing them 90+ times, ugh...it's so... so.. boring....
New content is new content. It's one thing to try the content and hate it, but to simply watch a video and decide it's crap.. =/
I wasn't excited for CT, at all. I did it when patch came out, and I liked it a lot.
TL;DR Try it, don't judge it off someone's youtube vid.
Tried the coil once and it just seemed lackluster and boring.
My experience so far: I'm a player since Beta Phase 3. I work so I've not so many time, so I leveled up to 50 at the start of October, a week to taka almost some DL piece, then i started farming myth capping every week. When my little FC merged in a larger one we get the remaining 2-3 people to our usual farming party to get a static to Coil. Upon entering Coil i was ILV75, myth head/body/gloves and relic+1. I did only 2 tries of T1: one of our static was experienced so he teached us, and after the first kill ok Caduceus we went straight till T4. We actually are stuck in T4 wave 6, almost ready to clear it. In the meantime I had a lot of luck in Coil, get 5 different pieces in 4 weeks and farmed more mith, standing now at ILV86. Coil loot was for me a BIG boost to my gear.
It could be very possible I could be full Myth without a relic weapon, forget about Coil. I don't farm anything and rarely cap each week. I just happen to buy something when I cannot earn any more tomes or close to it. I still get great enjoyment out of the game without ruining other people's enjoyment. Later content will be there today or months from now. I am not in a rush. Make me a bad player? No. Am I worse at things I have not done yet versus those that have that content on farm mode? Absolutely.
This is exactly what to do if you can't find a group. Make your own party in PF and put "First timers and any help appreciated" I really don't mind wiping for an hour once a week if I can help 7 other people get a taste or experience of it. Once they do they will realize it's not as hard as they have been thinking, don't flame me here because I'm not saying titan hm is really that hard, but if you can beat titan (by surviving, not dead 3/4 of fight) you prolly have enough gear to start attempting coil. It's much more like a normal dungeon boss encounter than a primal. Lots of people probably attempted titan fight 300+ times times to get their kill, I'd probably put it way closer to the 20ish range if that even for snake. I beat it on my 3rd attempt in there as healer in only full darklight w/ my relic +1. Play however you want but if you start it in full i90 your probably gonna be disappointed because its going to be like running stone vigil as a lvl 50 without lvl sync. I would understand more if you went in once and felt way undergeared and had a horrible experience, but I think most ppl after running it once will see its not a big deal or very complicated. (especially t1)
I think most people want the entire mythology set for the completion.
Mythology is a recolor of AF. It's special. It lets your character use AF and not be ridiculed.
Because a system that complements their bad loot RNG will make people want to do their 4 boss endgame when they can just watch netflix and acquire that same Ilvl as someone who does complete said content. This game is becoming such a joke it isn't funny. I feel like I'm playing FFXIV:Welfare reborn. Why not just make the ex primal weapons i95 and just delete coils since you just want to hand the stuff out for no effort.
while I actually have some gear from coil and have been running it regularly in pugs, I have no experience with Turn 4. Guess what that means? I never get any experience doing Turn 4. I think I've seen one group welcoming newbies into T4 in the last couple of weeeks and I was busy at the time. I think a lot of the problem is nobody wants to spend any time on anything any more, if it's not quick and easy they don't want to do it.
Now I'm just enjoying leveling my other classes in dungeons. Perhaps I shouldn't be bothering with my myth gear given that I have no practical application for it, but that's my choice.
The best way to find a training group for a Turn is to wait until Sunday. There are many people out there who'll complete Turn 1 and Turn 2 and want to give Turn 4 a try, but don't have any experience. Create a group saying "Training for Turn 4, newbies welcome." and figure the Turn out together. They reset the next day, so there's no worry.
Same for anyone who wants to try Turn 1, or any Turn for that matter (I see plenty of training runs for Turn 5 on Saturdays and Sundays).
I love when people complain about players asking for experience, which shuts them out because they don't have any. Reminds me of people who complain about employers only wanting people with job experience who aren't willing to go do volunteer work for experience...
It's easy to get experience in anything. Stop bitching for no reason.
i have no tank gear from coil, been playing since beta
they say it drops a lot in t1/t2 but 2-3 months of nothing so far so i have a lot of myth gear on my main WAR
it seems to drop only drg....
t1/t2 rq cause they are quick, it takes so long to find a pug that can beat t4 since i dont have a static tho
but i will do coil > ct > myth now
in that order to see what i need to get from where
I am iLv86 and have Geared out my BARD in AF+1 gear and have only run T1-2 of Coil so far (Got Allagan Gloves on my first run...Yay!). My issue is that our FC did not have enough players along until just now so we will be starting hopefully very soon. My issue was finding groups to play with and hearing about all the drama that goes on in there with PUG groups and such. We as an FC are waiting until we have our own group all set so we can play together and have fun and not have to worry about the bull crap of other people...we can distribut LOOT as we want etc...
The only thing I noticed were my myth tomestones piling up to 2000 and I had to decide if I should spend them to buff my main or get stuff for my other jobs.
Since running Coil with my main I decided to get some items for it, because the only thing that dropped for it was a choker.
I still want the Allagan gear, but it won't be a big improvement now.
Too bad they didn't change Coil to the same loot system as CT. I like Coil and currently our static is gearing up and working on T4.
I honestly don't see a problem with this other than someone who consistently runs coil 1-4 being upset a dungeon grinder has the same item level. It doesn't matter. At least this way if your group has to replace a coil member you can find one that's geared enough to run it and be effective.
Been doing coil for ages now, still only had 2 pieces drop for my monk...
I've been in Coil T1. Twice. And we wiped continuously. I know it's part of the game, but spending over several hours, and people coming in and out to kill the last boss in T1 is just not a very pleasant experience.
It's come down to the point where farming myth is just easier. Half the effort, twice the work, but getting the same results in the end.
I've never done any of the EX modes either. Some things are just too damn hard and punishing sometimes and it just completely ruins my chance at attempting to better myself.
This is coming from someone who tanked/healed in WoW since July '05, and played FFXI since 1.2, for fun, and still managed to make a stupidly high amount of progress character growth wise before Abyssea ruined the game as a whole. As for WoW, I tanked almost all of vanilla all the way up to Naxx40 (but we stopped with BC almost around the corner and no one was logging in). We only cleared Plague and Spider wing. I'd talk more about WoW, but the more I talk about it, the more I want to resub it again.
I genuinely was hoping SE would nerf T1-T2 damage somewhat, maybe about 10% or something, when 2.1 rolled around, but I'm struggling to just find myself motivated to even bother attempting Coil/EX difficulty/etc.
Honestly, all I do is log in, do my dailies, the daily duty finder, and log off. Sometimes I'll do some Botany farming but that's about it.
lol you gotta be kidding me, I played WoW during BC/WotLK/Cata (supposedly the stupid easy era of WoW) and I can pug turn 1-4 every week within 1.5 hours (including time it takes to find the group typically). I'm gonna take a leap and say if you find turn 1-4 intimidating then it's definitely a problem on your end, it's NOT a hard thing to do.
1-4 are literally just heal spam fights as well.
Coil has a lock out so I avoided it like the plague because I disagree with lock outs since they are artificial content blockers designed to slow peoples progress down .
What is COMICAL AND HAHAH ROFLMAO is that Im also fully geared in myth without having to worry about the harass of finding a static group all the time and learn hard content . ILvL 90 haven't had to do coil . LOVE IT!
Honestly, all I do is log in, do my dailies, the daily duty finder, and log off
Honestly, you start gaining tomes before you even have a chance to enter the coils. If you are someone who does your dailies then it is more than likely possible for this to happen.
I don't even know how to access the coils yet and I almost have enough tomes for my first myth piece.
I am nearly full Myth and have been in coil for over 3 months. Are you going to get mad at me for having bad luck?
Assuming items would drop, I'd be wearing allagan. Point is, they don't. Two and a half months of Coil and I haven't seen caster robe or pants drop, not even once. And even if I got the robe but not the pants, I wouldn't be able to wear it in Coil because I need the damn accuracy from AF2.
This is a terrible analogy because most people can't simply volunteer instead of work. They need to work in order to not starve to death or be homeless. You don't need to get Allagan gear in order to play FFXIV, and you can do other things instead of Coil (gearing up in CT while you accumulate myth tomes is the obvious thing to do). So no, they aren't similar at all.
Or they could be like me, playing every week and not getting loot. This monday I got head. First drop I have ever gotten from that place.
If they have full Myth and then start doing coil. It's a problem. If they have full myth despite running coil, then they're just unlucky. That's when it's important to make the distinction in Party Finder that you want geared AND experienced players. That being said, quite often I'll bring along 1/8 inexperienced players as long as they're geared and I know the other 7 are solid.
Pre 2.1, have full I90 was an achievement. It was something I was proud of and it showed my weekly progression through coil to obtain all my BiS allagan gear. Post 2.1, everyone and their friends have "I90 average". This number now means little to nothing. It all comes down to how many BIS pieces you have and how good of a player you actually are. Gear level avg can no longer reliably be used as an indicator of progression unless you closely examine them
I've not been because everyone wants experienced players. This game will crash and burn by the hands of players who rushed content and have no patience/compassion to help noobs.
I did coil when I was in full darklight and no myth, did it for a couple of weeks got turn 1 down, but grew very tired and bored of the game. Coil was very boring to me.. VERY boring :(.
So now I'm gearing myself up in myth gear, almost finished and have been going in as an alt with my fc, still haven't personally gotten turn 2 down, but I understand the mechanics with rot so that I don't need anyone explaining to me what to do, just put the number over my head and I know where to go and what to do.
I wouldn't mind if outside of coil you could only obtain 300 myth, than could grab the additional 150 from coil only. Don't get drops? You still get the extra myths. Similar to what I vaguely remember of my WoW: Cataclysm launch days and Justice/Valor. (Phil/Myth equivalents)
Coil takes 1hr to clear? People complaining that there is not enough time in a week to do it is bullshit.
@OP When you see full myth, no +1.. all from WP, then they start to do primals or want to do coil... have NO IDEA how to handle any mechanic, let alone how to play their own class.. then the frustration begins...
Notice the "farm" trend in party finder, that is 90% fail (not to mention most grps put i85+ on garuda and still fail lol)
i geared up in mostly myth because of bad rng, after 12 runs i got the head/gloves/choker, the rest is myth, but now when i go into coil 9/10 times i end up giving the loot to the other healer because theyre in dl/ct gear and i'm not a greedy dick that wants to replace i90 with i90..
RNG is not my friend in CT or Coil. That being said, BiS for SCH is mostly myth (just need to save up for it all...)
