Rage Quit

I'm sure we will see our fair share of Rage-quitters once the update hits us, and plenty more before that when the letter from the producer comes out.

It will also be hillarious reading them all.

Some people just really hated it. All of the people I started playing XIV with in beta and release just cancelled their accounts because of how sickened they were by the game.

So you find the issue of decreasing populations hilarious?
Whether the said "rage-quit" posts that may come might be for silly reasons or poorly put together as a whole, XIV is still losing players. That's not something to laugh about unless you really want this game to be scrapped.

1. Ragequiters on the forums mostly don't play the game anyways.

2. If the game fails it fails, getting teary eyed that people don't find the game up to snuff doesn't bother me.

3. Why should I care about the population dropping right now? If the game fails to pick up users on re-launch is the issue at hand. Sure a few "Hardcore" players might convince the 2 friends they actually have to not pick the game up but it's not as dramatic an effect people are making it out to be.
Surely Square should be worried about retaining them, but I sure as hell don't care. The delicious tears will flow one way or another.

4. Most Ragequiters are just trolls who probably log in the next day despite "Deleting there account and never coming back"

In any forum the dissenters are always the vocal majority, even if the game was amazing I can guarantee we would still see a large volume of troll posts either way. Happy people play, angry people cry about it on forums. Do I want the game to be scrapped? Nope. Can I do anything about the dev teams actions? Aside from what I allready currently do as a normally decent forum goer...nope. Can I laugh at some of the terrible reasons people "Quit" I sure as hell can.

People have missed the point of this dev letter. 1.18 isn't just auto attack, read the previous letter for things that will also make it in with this patch. This letter was just to give us on an update on this specific feature.

It is kind of underwhelming, but in the same respect, im sure they don't want to keep repeating the same stuff in each letter.

People who think of quiting save yourselves the words and just quit a game you dont like playing its that simple, nobody wants to hear about it and nobody cares.
People who still plan on playing the game will continue to play it even if the patch isnt good enough.

Oh but the "flounce about and drama quit in a flurry of feathers" is so much more entertaining to read.

Like people who give up drugs, they always have a good old rant at the drug of choice before storming away. They tend to still have a stash though, you know, just in case :)

Bro I rage quit every day then I log back in the next day for another 10000 straight hours and then rinse and repeat.

I would probably eat 5 years worth of sh*t for this game before I give up on it, which is sad. I dont play xiv already everyday though, I take breaks from time to time when I have a semester to partake in. When I'm 26 I better be doing some epic content on the few weekends I'll be able to play lol.

This kind of 'quitting' mentality totally escapes me. You have nothing stopping you from going away and coming back, no fees, nothing.

Just stop playing, check back in 3 months, start playing.

It really is just that simple.

Pretty much this.
Square has rarely disappointed me (I am looking at you FFX-2) and I will continue to give FFXIV the benefit of the doubt for as long as it takes. I am not a fair weather fan.

Sweet! Someone else that didn't like FFX-2! This game was more of a let down than X-2 for me, except at least XIV has a possibility of being patched to goodness however small that may be. I'll stick around simply because of how much time I have invested in the game. No promises of having anything positive to say until they actually get this game out of beta phase and hit the same level of quality that every other MMO that comes out nowadays offers.

The way I see it, if you overhype somthing, then get mad when it does not meet your standards of hype, that is your own fault, and you can rage quit all you want. As I stand there and point and laugh.

i think that whatever the new patch might include ppl will complain.
and i mean even if SE manages to merge ALL of the requests posted here from jump to fluffy bunnies there will still be posts like this.

For a patch to fail, there must be at least a noticeable population expecting something from it.

Nothing can fail or drop anymore in the current situation.

Well SE can still go bankrupt I guess.

I will continue to play regardless if the patch 'fails'. Although... to me, patches don't fail since it's just putting the pieces together anyway.

I mean, come on... it's free to play. Yes it lacks content... but... free to play >.> Go outside for a little bit if you're bored.

It's more the rage part that I want to see. It brightens my day when I'm bored at work. People take video games way too damn seriously. :P

Basically where I stand. I'm keeping an eye on the game, but not really active at the moment. I care about it and want it to be successful, at least by the time FFXI finally wears out for me (But that won't be until at least after I achieve level 99 on my jobs)

I play a little everyday. Starting to get back into it, just kinda waiting for something big to keep playing more.

not saying mmo=life. And I'm not raging just sharing my point of view, maybe with a hint of annoyance at this community. MMOs are about game play over time like a fine wine. They get better with age.

And I played over 30 of them because I like mmo. And try them out see if I enjoy it and want to stick to it. I played ffxi and ffxiv because they are mmo. Not because of the final fantasy title and compare the mmo story to their single player games. I enjoy mmo because you can't beat them in a week. There is nearly an infinate amount of "gameplay time". Most games they are release only have about 16-20 hours worth of game play unless you play fallout or elder scrolls which are longer hitting 60+ hours.
MMO should be enjoyed over time. Why even pay a fee for a game your going to "beat" in a mnth.

an announced rage quit is not a true rage quit. rage quit has to be an spontaneous burst of anger followed by 2 curse words and the a swift press of the computer power button

posting you might rage quit on a forums is not a real rage quit ^.^

@ xeno again because I ran our of space.

People are acting like when this game gets patched up (everything fixed) they will not do it anymore. At least that is what it reads to me. FFX?IV is an mmo and will get updated have exspansion packs add-ons (the 6 that ffxi game out not WoW ui stuff), major update patches.


People act like the game will never get better. Even though by nature mmo get better over time. It just If you enjoy it or not. If you don't then just stop playing, no need to make a big stink about it.

Also to add again, I never knew I was banned. I took a break from the forums till I went to look something up. Nor did I really care. Nor do I care still. If people do not want to get to know the "real" me not the me they made up and push my buttons to prove them right. Thats their fault not mine :) I know who I am and thats what really imortant.

Actually the game has LOTS of potential. I don't know why you need jump and mounts or an AH. Is it not allowed to be unique at all? Content I agree is really lacking atm, however that can be fixed in one Update. FFXI didn't have jump and any mounts other than chocobos and was still such a fun rewarding game. The only thing wrong with the ward system I think is when you set the price of something you don't do it blind. The amount of undercutting atm is really bad, but I have faith that it will even out. You have 1103 Posts for a game you say has no potential. I find that really ironic.
