Diabolos appeared as a flight of bat merging, and when he was defeated, he went back to his bat form. He didn't disappear like others voidsent => He's most likely still out there, licking his wound and planning his revenge ;3

<flicks on lightswitch, chokes on dust> WHEW does this OP need an update or what? Post-E3 goal! In the meantime...
Since Fan Fest, I've kept a big list of unknowns...
- Things I find that I can't answer
- Things I'm asked that I can't answer
- Things I'm asked to ask someone who knows better
- Fruitless debates that turn into black holes of wasted energy every time they come up
You know, things people seem interested in. At E3 this year, loremaster and metatron of world lore head Banri Oda-san - Koji Fox (aka Fernehalwes) - agreed to do an interview with us, so we shipped off a list of thoughtful, fleshed-out questions with everything else stuffed into a rapid-fire list at the bottom. What did the world creation duo decide they would deign to answer? ... Pretty much all of it. There's a certain bit about a certain ambiguous Legatus that may come a little later, and a certain something about two certain somethings that's not mine to share, but the rest is all here in one package. Come check it out, and don't forget to thank Koji Fox and Banri Oda for not only finding time, but making time to once again take every opportunity to support the lore community.
So much awesome! Thanks for this! And thanks Fern!
It's here! That friendly reminder that that knowledgeable little Lalafell of Lore actually talks with real people, in-person, about this stuff. I want your job!
Methinks he misunderstood what you meant by "the bubble." XD Not something he was obligated to give a straight answer to, either way. Aside from that, I know the questions I want answered cannot be answered except by in-game revelations, so with that lovely bit of reading out of the way, back to pining as I watch this download progressbar.
Thanks for the read, Moose!
Moose, you always do the best interviews. Thanks for always keeping up on the forums and asking the things everyone's wondering about, then bringing it back to us! I'm only more impatient for tomorrow now...
And, of course, a huge thanks to Ferne and Oda-san for all their hard work in creating this world for all of us to be so interested in!
Thanks Moose! Dig the lore you managed to get! Keep up the fantastic work!
Awww, I WAS hoping for a big ass library I could just park my toon in and read all about the lore and the astral and umbral eras and stuff...
Also, WOW! A picture of the moose!
Nice pic Moose

Thanks Moose, also another thanks for bringing back the Niellefresne question~ Looking forward to seeing Colbernoux again and seeing how he's making it without his crush F'lhaminn.
Thanks so much for the kind words (really makes it worth it that I stayed up all night last night to type it out, lol) and I'm stoked to get back to discussion and debate once I get home (flight leaves soon). If there are still unknowns we didn't solve, we'll get them on the new list of things that blow our minds in the 3.0+ cycle, lol.
With the time bubble question, the answer is that, yes, we're technically stopped on 5 Seventh Umbral / 1 Seventh Astral for the foreseeable future of the game. Time's passing, but it's not moving. Even if Bart Simpson goes to 2,000 days of 4th grade, he's not getting any older or graduating any higher. They discussed ways to make the Nanamo thing work (who says she's notcant be changed to be an imposter Lolorito hired to keep the con going, eh? EH!?), but opted to focus on creating new content, instead. For now, it seems best to just accept it like we accept the game clock not being representative of lore. Time passes, time doesn't move, patch number equals canon order. It won't satisfy everyone, but we do have confirmation that the bubble is in play.
As for Colbernoux, back in 1.0 Lolorito was always after a certain favor from him. He might not be able to reject it these days... Really, really looking forward to leveling through that quest line.
They warned me that my picture would definitely end up on the Yoshida interview, so we joked a bit with the lore photo. Keeping Anwyll of Gamer Escape separate from Anonymoose of FFXIV wasn't ever really a realistic goal, lol.
Lolorito's internal monologue in that scene, actually. It leaves very little room for doubt. The left hand had no clue what the right hand was up to when that scene was written, but we accept it and move on, because that is the only option we are ever given.
Again, good work on the writeup, and I look forward to butting heads with you (and those marvelous antlers) over events still yet to come!
Awesome interview. I'm always really impressed about how much we are given in the lore interviews from these guys.
Aaand flight is delayed.
Jeez, that'll teach me to throw sarcastic lines in on my way out the door... :p
<grabs eraser / rephases, "who says she's not" to "who says she can't be changed to be">
This was just something given as an example of a way that the quest might have been altered by a flag that checks if you've completed Patch 2.55's finale. Instead of dedicating time to finding, flagging, and branching old content, however, they focused on new stuff and hoped we could accept that it was Patch 2.00 content. It's at Sector 2.00 of The Bubble (I can only imagine how much that phrase is going to grate on the continuity purists.) I didn't think something like this would come up, but it is what it is. Look at the bright side, at least death isn't cheap... >.>
Ditto! Judging by the trailer, the mythology is about to hit some turbulence; here's to future debates.
Turbulence is putting it mildly; I suspect by this time next week, a number of the assumptions we've been making about certain elements of the world are going to have to be ejected out the window.
This will be a fun week.
I really appreciate you asking about the Au Ra and their whole design/motif ordeal, word from Ferne himself is always appreciated even though it's nothing particularly new. I really hope Heavensward delves some into exactly what the heck they come from and what they are however. It just seems like some really weird reasoning that they go "Huh, well we don't want players to feel alienated by having a draconic race and them fighting dragons, so we'll say they're demonic/have a demonic motif instead".
Either way! Excited for the whole new batch of lore we all will be finding out! I'm definitely looking forward to one or two things I've spoiled myself with.
Hold on, we get a lore forum salute? Or is that just something for the loremasters?
Personally, I still heavily suspect that the Au Ra are going to tie in heavily to the Heavensward story, particularly by the end.
While legend can certainly vary greatly from truth, I refuse to believe that all the hints, large and small, dropped over the course of 2.x were just red herrings.
